[Eastern Gauthrel] Hal-tongue-a

The Gauthrel Plains reach from the coasts of western Idalos to the very edge of Ne'haer before meeting the forests surrounding Hiladrith. The Fields of Gauthrel can be a dangerous place, one that is home to the most deadliest of creatures. It holds many secrets in the history of the land and may offer rewards to those who choose to journey out into the wild plains. It is best not to wander out alone in these fields. Even caravans have been known to go missing.

[Eastern Gauthrel] Hal-tongue-a

23rd of Ymiden, Arc 717

It had been a long time flying, from the northern reaches of Lysoria to the realms of Gauthrel. Kaiserion carried upon his back both the mage and his beloved mate, and due to the combined weight of the two, needed to stop frequently. During their time traveling, they'd shared many stories - Kaiserion spoke of Nordhoff and the things he had once seen. Slaves being subjected to all manner of cruelty at the whims of their masters, who saw themselves as the superior beings of Idalos. He revealed to Alistair and Fridgar that Nordhoff's legacy of slavery began in the Lotharen Horde conquests of the late 500s, where they were tasked with bringing slaves home and putting them to use in production.

In that way, the other clans had created their own nightmare, though they would forever be too proud to admit it.

Alistair shared his own stories, of the nobility, of the things he learned of them - the things they did. He was one of them by blood, right and upbringing, but he'd never been one with them in many other ways. He found little pleasure in the brutalizing of the peasantry, which his own family scorned along with him, though they still favored decadence and needless luxury. He said this from the position of a wealthy man who wore, in this journey, travel clothes and his masterwork leather armor, with his chain fauld. Alistair had always been practical - perhaps that was part of why he loved Fridgar so much, equally practical if not more.

When finally they arrived in Eastern Gauthrel, near to the city of Faeron, their guide suggested a pause. Kaiserion had determined that before entering the city, they should know of its words, its accent, its voice. The city was one of the few in the world where common was a small lingual minority, with the Lotharen incredibly stern about the preservation of their words, culture, identity and demography. They were a staunchly conservative people in that way, though from what Kaiserion described of the capital, they were incredibly accepting of all things merit. The city sounded like paradise, to Alistair. He had never been one for cultural melting pots himself -- Oxentide's crime rate, to him, served as a reminder of the tribalism that came as a result.

With the three men settled in a camp along a road outpost, manned by Alfweyr Kriger, Kaiserion beckoned for the two lovers to gather around the fire in the dark of night. There, he began to explain to them the intricacies of the Lotharen tongue.

"Haltunga," he said, beckoning for the name to be re-spoken. "Hahl-Tounn-Gha," he pronounced it clearly, Alistair following. At first his words sounded awkward and deformed, though with a few re-attempts, he managed to pronounce the name of the language fairly decently. "Haltunga is called the language of war by many West Idalosians," he explained. "Not only is it a language that often declares war, and has across history, it is also a language of strength, fierce words, assertiveness and harsh truths. That's not to say it's a language of cruelty," he shook his head, dismissing the idea before it was even propped up. "There are many loving words in Haltunga that you will never, ever be able to compare to those of another language. Ann gadiyan," he sounded, his tongue rolling to the top of his mouth as he spoke. Alistair was almost entranced by the way it was said -- softly, but passionately.

"It means I love you -- but there are many, many more ways to say the same thing. Rei mothal, kindal; rei athras, havendal... a bounty of words, for each level of passion - ann gadiyan to be said passively before a kiss, rei mothal or athras in a moment of deep understanding... sanai'i when professing love during an act of passionate sex. There are even ways to say it during rough sex, or tender sex - Haltunga is a language of passion." Now, he realized he was probably focusing too much on the sexual aspect of the language, but decided he would just go along with it. It had been too long; he was starting to think about it even when trying to play linguist.

...Moving on. "That applies to battles, wars, fucking, drinking, playful insults or genuine ones - everything in Uthaldria is done at high volume, literally and metaphorically. One thing you'll notice if you stay in the city is that you'll often hear havendals showing their... fondness for their kindals, even from many houses over," he cleared his throat, "just as often as you'll hear a tavern brawl spilling out onto the streets, men screaming at one another in a vicious fury. It's a densely populated city, and a loud city. It's a city that never rests, everyone impassioned from the moment they awake. That's what Haltunga is -- it's what its speakers are."

He looked to Fridgar, and invited him to try and speak. He remembered him having a very good accent.

"Fridgar, I want you to get fired up. I want you to tell Alistair that you want to beat up some assholes at a bar, and I want you to do so in a way that both scares and motivates him at the same time. This is how Haltunga is spoken - it's almost an event language, motivating people with hyperbole and strong speech. Remember your octave; speak clearly, resoundingly. The tongue will do the rest for you -- Alistair will need to learn the specifics of the tone."

The mage, listening to all of this intently and scribbling it down onto a piece of parchment, sighed. This would be a difficult and momentous task - he was a naturally collected and reserved person. Such an aggressive, forward language would not have been his first choice. However, in this region, Haltunga was an incredibly important tongue to master alongside Rakahi. He would need to make the steps to take the leap.

[Eastern Gauthrel] Hal-tongue-a

For dear life, Fridgar clung to his lover. Never had he rode anything that flew, or even flew in honesty. Sure, he'd glided about the place when he had his eagle totem, but that was about it for his experience. Now, he was dashing about in the dead of night with his beloved on the back of kaiserion, who was in the form of some giant bird lizard. This was Gauthrel that they flew over, his homeland. It had been six arcs since he was last anywhere near this place, though they were still miles from his actual home.

For some time, the two told stories of their family's histories, Kaiser sharing the history of Nordhoff and Alistair, his stories of nobility. Fridgar didn't have much to say on the matter and kept quiet through the conversation.

Eventually, they landed and set up in an outpost along some road somewhere. Fridgar had never been here, this place was alien to him. Kaiserion transformed back into his Kaiser form before joining them around a burning camp fire. Fridgar recognised the length of time and level of pain that his fellow Lothar suffered and confirmed his prior guess, this man was an expert in becoming, a mastery below Fridgar. Despite the obvious agony of the transformations, Fridgar still found the process to be sort-of cute. A becomer on the road to mastery was adorable.

"Haltunga?" Fridgar asked with uncertainty. Kaiserion repeated himself, but slower. The larger Lothar nodded in understanding, he was trying to give Alistair a feel for the accent. Fridgar was basic enough in his understanding of the language, but he wasn't that basic. The language of war? He didn't know that. Though, the words were sort of aggressive sounding, especially when shouted. It made sense. The language was strong, fierce and assertive, but Fridgar didn't know what the other Lothar meant by 'harsh truths', Fridgar had always been brutally honest, perhaps that was a trait of the native tongue, even though he didn't speak it well?

Kaiser then went on to speak something he hadn't heard before, though that wasn't saying much considering his limited vocabulary in the language. When it was revealed that the words meant 'I love you', Fridgar's heart sank. All his Haltunga, he'd learned from his father on the rare occasion that they spoke without their fists, but he'd never heard those words. He hid it, but it had upset him to come to that realisation. "Ann gadyian, Alistair," Fridgar spoke to his beloved with a turn of his head, then kissed his fiancé on the cheek softly. He would look to kaiserion for approval, avoiding eye contact as usual. When the other man nodded, Fridgar grinned proudly.

Not only that, but there were loads of ways to say 'I love you' in haltunga. Fridgar hadn't considered that, but there were plenty of ways to say the same thing in common, synonyms they were called. A mischievous grin spread his lips before he spoke to Alistair "Sanai'i, Cariad..." His grin held "Oh, you’re only supposed to say that while having sex, right? Maybe we should fix that, my rose," Fridgar flashed a cheeky wink to Alistair. Though he knew there was no way that the noble would let him into his pants in public, he still liked embarrassing him from time to time.

Kaiserion went on to explain the more aggressive side of the language. Passion did include adrenaline rushes during wars or battles, though not during insults? Though those were often passionate too. His expression became fierce and excited at the mention of bar fights spilling into the streets. He leaned forward with clenched fists pressed into his knees at the very explanation. Fuck yes. People had bar fights like that in Uthaldria? Fridgar was going to love it here, for sure.

When it was his turn to speak though, that expression faded. "Are you sure?" The Lothar asked with uncertainty, "I don't know that many words though, so don't laugh," Fridgar stood and turned to his lover before clearing his throat "Jeg vil ha slag MASSE AV ANSIKT!!" he roared down at his lover with his paws clenched. Silence followed for a few trills, some of the Kriger guarding the outpost even turned to look at him with very concerned eyes. Kaiser couldn't help but laugh before speaking "Do you now?" he gave a look that spoke how terrible Fridgar sounded. The smaller Lothar wiped tears from his eyes while the larger tucked his tail between his legs, humiliated.

Kaiser soon helped the lothar with some of the missing words, corrected ones he used wrong, then had him say it again. Once more, Fridgar cleared his throat and turned to his lover "Jeg ønsker å skape mange folk i ansiktet?" Kaiserion nodded, Fridgar smiled and settled his eyes on Alistair's "Jeg ønsker å skape mange folk i ansiktet!!" He shouted again, though not nearly with as much ferocity as he'd tried before.

When that part of the lesson had ended, Fridgar looked to Kaiser with questioning look. "Kaiser, what's a kindal? You say it a lot, I think you even introduced yourself as one?"

The man's Haltunga was surprisingly good, at least to Alistair. He didn't sound very different from the Lotharro he'd heard rambling and babbling together on the road, nor the ones he'd encountered speaking in Haltunga off worlds away. His accent was clear, and a certain strength came from his diaphragm. It was the sort that was necessary to speak such a hearty, boisterous tongue. In all ways, Fridgar was a Lotharro. He didn't really know it himself, but from what Alistair had realized, the man was a collection of various features swept across his race and amplified to the highest degree. In the way he spoke the language, this constant remained so.

"What does that mean? That uh... jeg anskar... a... scape manga folk iy an...skitet?" He repeated in his head, furrowing his brow. "No, that's totally wrong. Ahem," he repeated. "Jeg onsker a skape mange folk i ansiktet?" Kaiserion shook his head.

"Don't forget - it's ønsker å. The small pronunciation differences mean a great deal," he said. Alistair nodded.

"Ønsker å," he corrected himself.

"Good, Kaiserion replied. That means - I want to punch those people in the face," he stated to Alistair's nod. "Apparently, Fridgar is quite conversational when it comes to violent rhetoric," the slave said nonchalantly, beginning to whistle. He was only teasing -- he was the one who'd asked him to say something violent, after all.

Upon being asked of what a 'kindal' was, the slave curved his lip in thought and attempted to answer appropriately. "Well... it's like husband or sometimes wife, but it implies submission. It's the spouse occupying the - by foreign standards - traditionally feminine role. We don't see it as 'feminine' though, as females were only introduced to Uthaldria around a hundred years ago. Instead, it's seen as subservient in a way, but not in a manner that is to be used and abused. Instead, cherished, protected, beloved. The term literally means that - beloved, whereas havendal means guardian. There are other words for these things, these are just the ones used in reference to a marriage." He explained to what he thought was the best of his ability, though he attempted to explain in more detail, stroking his chin in thought.

"The havendal guards the household, usually holds property rights, and is typically tasked to provide for the household - themselves, their kindal and their children. The kindal upholds hygiene, ensures everyone eats well, and raises the children. In many ways, it is that of a typical Idalosian family dynamic, showing that even in Gauthrel we are not entirely so different." He nodded, and Alistair scribbled down this information onto the same parchment he'd scrawled the linguistics notes.

Kaiserion sat straight. "However, these dynamics are not too incredibly common to this extent, as often times children are raised jointly by the Path, and both kindal and havendal will need to work hard for their Clan. It's a complicated thing, Uthaldrian familial politics. If we were not constantly besieged by monsters, it would be different. But alas, we cannot all have the love and care of our fathers -- sometimes they are tasked to fight tooth and claw whilst we lay raised alongside twenty brothers and a sister or two, tied only by future destiny," he said, frowning. It was clear to Alistair that this was likely his own personal experience; he had not been raised by his family, but instead by his Path.

"And," Alistair began, "there's something else, right?" he questioned. "Most Lotharro, right now, are Reborn. I have heard of the difference. Reborn Lotharro don't have parents at all, so aren't all of them raised by their Path?" the Baron asked.

"Nearly all, yes," Kaiserion said. "There are rare exceptions. Fenns will usually be raised by the family of some Jarl, taught to rule, tasked to remember their old wisdom. Riordan Aelothar was raised by Thetros himself, if you'll believe it. My brother in arms was raised by the kindal of his past life - beloved became father. All families are different," he stated, nodding his head. The mage was thoroughly intrigued. One could likely write an entire encyclopedia on just the differences in familial structure within Uthaldria, and how this translated to one's upbringing and spatial connections. This land looked to be one that compelled the academic mind.

"Fridgar," Alistair called for his mate, "If we settle down here, I don't want for our children to be raised by some Path enclave. I want for us to raise them - kindal and havendal. You and me."

The overwhelming feeling of embarrassment soon faded after Alistair made his attempt at pronouncing the same thing that he had. Though, as relieving as it was to once again come to terms with the fact that he wasn't the worst Haltunga speaker in the world, he couldn't help but feel bad for his rose. The language was difficult to speak for those who primarily spoke common, it utilised plenty of tongue twisting combinations of letters like no word in common. That was no fault of Alistair’s, Fridgar was willing to be that the noble had learned a good few languages in his life. Meanwhile, Fridgar couldn't even speak his first language properly.

"We'll get there eventually, Alistair. We just have to be patient." Fridgar would remind the smaller man, wrapping an arm around his shoulder. Fridgar would plant a loving kiss on the side of his head, a token of encouragement. They both needed to reach fluency with Haltunga, though he knew Alistair would get there first. The human was just so smart, way smarter than Fridgar could ever hope to be. But Fridgar recognised his own strengths in instinct and brawn, despite being 'educationally delayed'. Did a man really need to be able to recite the alphabet when he could cave in another man's skull with a single punch to the face?

Regardless of whether education was necessary or not, he was in the middle of being educated, and the smarter Lothar had an answer for him. "Oh," Fridgar spoke with a nod, "So it's like Lotharen marriage?" To summarise what Kaiserion rambled on about, that's precisely what it was. But more... more. Kindal was the submissive while Havendal was dominant. Beloved and guardian. Somehow, Fridgar couldn't imagine a submissive Lothar, but one stood before him in the form of Kaiserion.

Along the edges of the plains, the beast wandered. Scared, alone, angry and hurt. It sought the nearest light source so that it may tend to its injuries. It had wandered so far, and ran even further. It wouldn't give up now.

Fridgar looked to Alistair with a gentle smile and raised eyebrows. "I'd love to be your havendal, my rose. I really would. But I don't think I'm strong enough just yet to even consider being your guardian," the Lothar smiled softly. One trial, he would be able to protect his beloved instead of having his beloved protect him all the time. But until then, he couldn't just hang around as a Kindal, surely? Something about a Lothar being a Kindal to a non-Lothar, or anyone at all sounded weak, though he couldn't put his claw on it.

At last, the beast laid eyes on a light in the distance, orange light. Fire. Warmth, but also danger. Around it were large wooden walls, a den of the Lotharen. The creature would need to be somewhat careful, though taking care wasn't in its nature.

When Alistair spoke that he wanted to raise their children as a couple, Fridgar nodded. "I know, I do too," Fridgar spoke with certainty "I wouldn't want some group of people we've never met to raise our child." What would even be the point of adopting if your plans were to hand them over to a path, anyway? In truth, Fridgar still didn't think himself worthy of raising children. While he'd grown to be well-behaved, he still saw no wrongs in his actions. Would his children see through that? Fridgar would pull the smaller human closer and wrap his arm around the smaller human's shoulder, hugging him tightly.

From the blue, Fridgar spoke once more. "Kaiserion," he looked to the other Lothar. "How do Lothar greet each other? I remember that You called me 'brother' before and I got mad. How do Lothar normally greet and interact with one another? I'd rather not mess this up." he smiled. While he still hadn't apologised to Kaiser for his behaviour that trial, he'd meant well since and offered his own advice for becoming and pain relief.

No, there was no way he could be stealthy about this. Three of the Lothar were gathered around the fire, he couldn't simply slip by undetected. With a puff of hot air, the Trachadon lined itself up with the front entrance to the outpost. The kriger at the front wouldn't see his approach until it was too late with the cover of darkness, h would need to wipe them all out without damaging the fire. No more running, totrial he stood. Finally, the beast scraped it's massive stumpy feet through the dirt before propelling itself forward with it's head lowered, a mad dash for the fire it craved.

We'll get there, eventually, his mate said. To that, the mage nodded, smiling lightly and laying his head onto the man's legs as he sat before the fire. "Yeah," he said, absently. The mage started to relax, shutting his eyes and repeating words of Haltunga in his head. Sanai'i, he said to himself. I love you, passion. Ann gadiyan - I love you, normality. Cariad, darling. Havendal, husband; strong, kindal, husband; weak. He trailed over all of these words, ones which he'd begun to understand the meaning of. He wanted to speak - to say something. The mage offered Kaiserion a look - one the slave new. Handing him the parchment, the man scribbled words onto the paper, and handed it back to Alistair. He did this as Fridgar spoke, so as to not alert him.

I'd love to be your havendal, my rose. But--"

The mage listened to what he had to say, and then - laying on his lap - looked into his eyes. "My Thorn," he called him, "you are already stronger than nearly anyone I've ever met. You've been ready to be my havendal for a long time, because you've protected me from something far greater than the blades of a foe or spells loosed from an enemy's fingertips. You've protected me from..." he started, eyes watering slightly, "loneliness, a feeling I lived alongside - with no reprieve - for all my life before your arrival. Perhaps you feel that I'm always the one rescuing you, but -- you rescued me once, and rescued me from a foe so great it would have claimed my life and all those around me."

Himself. He was a changed man, now. Fridgar had done that to him.

When he'd received the sheet back, he had a line to speak, and his face lit into a smile as the words met his eyes on the sheet, translations scrawled beneath them.

Every lifetime is only an opportunity to fill your arms in a different form. It was an Uthaldrian proverb.

"Fridgar -- Enn has mei thal... thal lond maii sohr nahs, kovah aedirn," he spoke, in an accent far better off than the one he'd demonstrated so few words before. The words were inspirational, and he felt he'd gotten something of a grasp on the tongue. Haltunga was a language of passion. When he spoke from the body, rather than the calculations of the mind, all came more naturally.

After he'd spoken, Kaiserion nodded his head and smiled brightly. They were both learning, and quickly. "You were born for the tongue, My Lord," he whispered. Alistair's eyes shut, his lips curving into a faint grin as he relaxed against his mate.

The question of greeting came up, and Kaiserion began to answer, his lips parting to speak. As he did so however, a great beast bashed through the encampment, causing for the mage's eyes to open in anxiety whilst the slave quickly stood. The beast ran towards the fire, but was stopped in his place by one of the defenders. Prepared for something like this, the Kriger guarding the outpost immediately armed and gathered weapons to dispose of the creature. Two of them walked side-by-side with an incredibly heavy, bladed chain, whilst one battled face-to-face with the beast with a massive war-hammer.

The Trachadon sent him stumbling back before ramming a horn into him, ripping through his armor and creating a gash through his chest. As the beast did so, however, the chains wrapped around its neck and began to rip through its stony flesh. The Lothar pulled back as hard as they could, attempting to decapitate it. It flailed around and dashed forward at Fridgar, Alistair and Kaiserion, attempting to use the momentum to loosen the grasp of its attackers.

Alistair blinked, avoiding the beast's charge entirely, and drawing Bear Whisperer for if he needed it. The mage grew unmoving, and from his body came three men, his Revenants. He was fully prepared to slaughter whatever this creature was.

When Alistair came to rest on his legs, Fridgar smiled. His beloved Alistair, to see him with so much faith in Fridgar's strength, his ability to protect the man he loved. He almost purred while running his hand through his lover's blonde locks, soft between his fingers. "Alistair..." Fridgar started in response, "That's at least one peril that I can always protect you from, no matter what." Fridgar's paw would drift down the noble's neck to caress his shoulder lovingly, easing his lover of any stress that clung to him from the journey.

One thing that stood out from Alistair's words was the ending; a foe so great it would have claimed my life and all those around me. He leaned over to plant a kiss on the noble's head, keeping contact with his lips for a few trills. If Alistair were implying that he'd thought of taking his life or the lives of his family members, he would just need to show his affection more to make up for his sad upbringing.

When Alistair spoke in haltunga, Fridgar looked to the noble in his lap with surprise, he'd spoken very well. "Whoa," Fridgar pulled the smaller man into a firmer, loving hug, sitting him on his lap. "That was awesome Alistair, I told you we'd get better!" he snuggled the smaller man, enveloping him in his body heat, an intended reminder of the Lothar's unflinching loyalty and boundless love for the Noble he cradled. Loving, attentive kisses found themselves planted along the side of Alistair's neck and face.

Then, as Kaiserion began his explanation of greetings and such in Uthaldria, a massive rampaging beast burst through the entrance to the outpost and rushed for them. The guards at the front utilised this strange chain-like weapon that had been embedded with blades to wrap around the creature’s neck, it cut away at the beast's flesh, half decapitating it before the beast's long, slender, spiked tail knocked them to the floor with surprising force and damaged armour as it rushed. Fridgar gripped the human tight and got up to run before realising that he'd already blinked out of the way.

The beast was fast-approaching and the Lothar was unarmed... Almost. He first unleashed into the Redbear as base form, and fell onto all fours in a rapid transformation, a massive hulking beast, far bigger than any other Redbear in Ne'haer. He would then use adapt and take the humanoid shape of the Fridgar, only to discover that it failed? Whatever, no time to stop. Then, he adapted the legendary strength of Fridgar and expert endurance. Finally, he used adapt for a final transformation and assumed the armoured scaled of a king crocodile. He rose onto his hind legs, standing nearly twenty feet tall with an outrageously thick frame. He looked to be all rippling muscle, wrapped in plate armoured scales. His yellow eyes settled on the tiny beady ones of the Trachadon, before his arms unfurled with an ear-splitting roar.

The beast did not stop, but hesitate briefly before lowering its head, ready to gore the gestalt that Fridgar had become. The mark of Palenon had grown with his form, still present as a mark on the soul. Utilising the bonus reaction speed, he slammed his clawed paws into the beast's tusk... horns and lifted the points safely away from him as the full momentum of the beast filled his form. Fridgar held.

With all his weight and strength, he pressed into the Trachadon. His feet dragged through the dirt floor of the outpost as the beast refused to relent, leaving two long, extended trails where Fridbeast's feet skidded. As determined as the Trachadon was, so was Fridgar. With a massive amount of strain in his back and core, he refused to let up and soon slowed the beast to a halt.

Despite his overwhelming strength and endurance, the creature had reduced him to a panting, heaving pile of armoured muscle-beast. That didn't stop him, of course, from slamming a fist into the side of the Trachadon's head with a bestial roar, only half recovered.

Fridgar stilled the beast to a halt. With the man-bear immobilizing the Trachadon, the Krigers got to work, and quickly. Their hands still clutched tightly onto the handle of the submission chain, one man on each grip. "Katuhr!" they yelled, one of them looking at Alistair, a fire in his eyes. "Katuhr!" he yelled again. "Katuhr, hoo-man!"

He shouted and shouted, and the mage could not claim to really understand. However, he could guess. Katuhr - pull. As Fridgar wrestled with the beast and threw fists against it's skull, the mage delegated his minions. Icarus and Andreas grabbed onto one side of the chain, and he and Deovan pulled on the other. The Trachadon began to roar ferociously, but from everything Alistair had seen, he'd begun to recognize this as the wailing of a dying creature. The blades along the chain dug deeper into its neck, and it only took a single powerful tug by the group to cleave through its natural armor. In a moment, the blades went from a puncture to a slide, decapitating the creature nearly instantly. The Trachadon's head flew high, before dropping hard onto its back and rolling onto the floor.

"Seven help us," Alistair whispered beneath his breath. The Seven. He needed to get that silly notion out of his head -- they were here now, and in this land, there was only one God.

And he'd instilled these men with the strength to pull off feats like... this. Decapitating that colossal beast, of skin harder than stone, and bred to endure. It screeched and wailed until its dying breath, wrestling against Fridbear all the same. But now, it was dead.

Kaiserion, standing up straight, stepped to the nearest Kriger and bowed his head. "Ken dag, morosh. Eik fyr neg tau, Kaiserion, menn kal - Alistair von Venora tei, Fridgar von Thorburn tei, morosh. Synn greis val han Uthaldriadir?" he asked, a native Haltunga consuming his voice. Alistair blinked. The other man responded in turn, and the two began to communicate in a light and friendly manner. Before the nobleman knew it, they were sitting by the campfire talking up a storm, the volume growing louder and louder with each word.

Alistair, knowing exactly what Fridgar would ask, began making a totem. Two totems - one for him, and one for Kaiserion. He held Bear Whisperer in his hand, a masterwork blade to be complimented by his exceptional physical strength. The mage used wither to degrade the creature's flesh to a weaker state along his foot, and with a hearty chop, he did in fact manage to cut off two of the creature's toes, nodding at his success. He looked to Fridbear and smiled slightly, inviting the hulking creature near. Strangely, the Kriger didn't seem offended or scared by his transformation. Instead, they seemed interested, and quite impressed.

Alistair had become quite fast at creating these totems, and did so dexterously. He crafted one for Fridgar rather quickly, and held it firmly in his palm. The totem for Kaiserion came next, and with a shout, he threw it over to the Lotharro by the campfire. The Shae caught it eagerly, astounded by the skill Alistair had demonstrated in shaping these little totem figurines. The hard skin of the Trachadon covered each totem, making it appear almost life-like, with a smooth and durable texture.

Standing up, the Lotharro came to his master's side, and began to whisper in common.

"I was asking him for directions," he said. "I've never come this way. I left Nordhoff by boat; had to. Slavery is not tolerated in the city of Uthaldria," the Becomer explained. "My Lord, if we are to dwell in this region, I unfortunately cannot live in your service as a slave. I'll be a free man - a friend, a loyal ally. But they would throw you into a cell and fry your brain before allowing an outsider to enslave one of their own. That is--"

"Kaiserion," the mage interrupted him. "You're free. I never wanted you to be my slave. I just figured it was some... strange dynamic with Famula that you had going on," he said, shrugging. "To be completely honest, I don't want to own a slave. I find the act of slavery to be reprehensible, because -- we should be what we are meant to be. To enslave someone is to suffocate all they could have become, all they are. It slaughters their dreams, their talents, their purpose. You know I'm far from humanitarian, but I believe in the freedom to do well for yourself. I would never withhold that from you."

The man's eyes began to tear up. He leaned in and wrapped his arms around Alistair, hugging him. The mage held his hand out at Fridgar, palm facing him, urging his calm. It was a friendly moment; an important moment to be shared.

"Thank you, My Lord," he called him again. Alistair wouldn't ask him to cease calling him that -- it felt quite nice, after all.

"Any time. Now, take my other gift as well," he said, demanding that both of them receive their totems. There was only one thing better than a colossal war dinosaur beast: two of them.

"Fridbear, my love," he called to his mate, "let's rest for the night? We can practice Haltunga -- like sanai'i, you know. The good stuff," he said, smiling all silly-like and clinging to his lover. This land was... beautiful, and vast, and so wild. On the flight here, he'd seen so many different creatures, and biomes he'd never seen so vastly. He'd come to love this place from the small glimpses he'd seen of it, and it reflected well on him; he was notably more jovial and loving, always cuddling up to Fridgar and always seeking his affection in return. He'd become something of a family man of late, and by every count imaginable, Fridgar was his family.

And this was where the man, the bear, belonged - the only wilderness that could truly claim him, where his limits were not so limited at all. Where he was surrounded by brashness and insanity, yet also the soft skin of his lover.

He hoped the man was happy. It had been a difficult road, getting here, and life would not become easy with a different locale. Still, he was home. For now, that would be enough.

While the sixteen foot Fridtitan might have thought that his brawn alone had stopped the creature, he was very wrong. The gathered Kriger pulled down and back at the chains, slowing the beast to a halt along with Fridgar's strength and weight. The fist he slammed into the beast's head had given the gathered Lothar just the right leverage to take the creature's head clean off. It spun a few times as it flew free of the creature's shoulders before hitting the floor in a grand thud. The one still standing, Fridcolossus, had heard the dying screech of animals so often that the final roar of the beast had almost melded with the background noises.

Fridgar knelt, resting his knuckles on the ground for support. By Ilaren, that beast had a charge like none he'd ever seen or felt. He panted like a dog possessed while gathering his breath. One problem came with this form, and that was communication. How did he go about talking to his beloved with a bear's vocal cords and a bear’s tongue? Regardless, his yellow eyes peered over to the noble, who clung exhausted to one of the chains. His minions, if they were alive, they would have been exhausted for sure.

Curious, Fridgar stood once he'd gathered the strength. He had an idea in mind for communication, but it was only an idea. Reaching within his spark, he utilised Echo and copied the Lothar's ability of speech before speaking. "Alistair?" Fridgar's voice came with the subtle growl of the Redbear as background noise. Shock and excitement claimed his features as his curiosity paid off. One thing Alistair might notice was that Fridgar's mouth did not move. Instead, the voice emanated from him as though echoing from the air that surrounded his muzzle, magically projected of course. "Wow, I can't believe it worked! Are you okay? you're not harmed are you?" The growling continued.

The beast walked over to Alistair, shaking the ground and sending tremors through the chests of all near-by with the very impact of his enormous hind paws. Fridgar looked the human over, lowering his body to be laying down on his front as he inspected the tiny human. His head was roughly the size of half of Alistair's whole being, even more perhaps. "My beloved, you are not hurt!" The booming voice continued while his head watched Alistair's work, removing the toes of the giant.... whatever had just been decapitated. "You know me too well, my rose. Thank you so much." Fridgar's voice came, grateful.

Careful not to smash anyone, Fridgar rolled onto his back before sitting up into a cross-legged position. His motions crushed the ground beneath him audibly, but the ex-Lothar didn't seem to notice. he tried not to intrude on the conversation between slave Ex-slave and Alistair, but the two shared in a rather heart-felt and touching moment that Fridgar couldn't help but feel glad for. Kaiserion was free, he was a good guy, deserved freedom. He couldn't help but feel glad for the man. Admittedly, a tinge of jealousy cropped when the two hugged, but he got over it quick enough with the look Alistair shot him.

When all was said and done, Alistair handed him the extremely tiny figurine of a rampaging charge-beast. Fridgar couldn't help but think it adorable, until he realised that he was just colossal and that the totem was natural sized. "Thank you, my love. I can't wait to go running in this form." because running was all he had planned for the Trachadon... Running through Andaris Palace, that was. Finally, Alistair requested that the two lay with one another for the evening. Fridgar would look down at himself then slightly up at Alistair before speaking with a cheeky bear-grin "I don't think it'll fit, Cariad." then laughing heartily.

"Nah," he picked up the human very gently and laid back against the ground before releasing the human onto his chest. "I'd love to cuddle for a bit, but when it's safe, I'm gonna turn back to Fridgar," he explained, "'Don't wanna risk overstepping again and being confined to one poxy ability a trial." Fridgar finished, half serious. "Thanks for the lesson, Kaiserion." Fridgar spoke out loud for the other Lothar to hear before licking his miniature Alistair in the face. "Goodnight, my love. You're safe with me, I promise." On second though, maybe he ought to get used to sleeping in this form?

Comment:
A lovely thread indeed (except for the rampaging trachadon part, that's not so lovely), I rather enjoy reading the love stories of Fridgali, although I know what's coming so I can't not feel bad. Keep writing, my friends!

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or concerns. Have a wonderful day! :)
