Vincent found himself sitting alone in a small warehouse full of several crates. Some marked with what he had come to recognize as the seals of some of the merchant families in the city, others unmarked. A single lantern hung from the center support beam in the center of the building, a few feet about and to the right of where Vincent currently sat. He had heard of the need for a guard while paying his rent a few trials earlier, and had inquired about the job. It hadn't taken much to talk his way into getting the job, and the pay wasn't the worst. Guard duty he had hoped would be a decent way to make some nel and keep in out of trouble, for Sabine's sake, but he had never imagined it would be this... boring.
Equipped with nothing more than a handful of his throwing knives, and wearing his leather armor Vincent had decided to pass the time practicing with the knives. Thunk, thunk, thunk, following by the soft sound of something hitting the wood floor. Again, and again the sounds of the knives either finding their mark in the wooden beam across the room, or falling harmlessly against the dirt floor sounded out. Afterwards Vincent would stroll over, retrieve the blades, and return to his original position to start the process anew.
Before every throw Vincent would note the weight of the knife and the distance to his target before loosing the blade, and though he missed more than he hit, he felt like he was beginning to get a grip of the skill. After a few throws from one spot he would change the distance or the angle of where he stood, and continue throwing.
Though soon even the training lost its appeal, and Vincent sheathed his knives after cleaning any dirt from them. Taking a quick bit to walk the perimeter of the building Vincent found himself sitting in the single wooded chair in the building. The polished ebony coin held between his thumb and forefinger as he studied it.
