A Night Under the Stars

Location: The Outskirts of Rharne

There was laughter and fun between him and Lexi as he chased her still, beyond the farmland and somewhat into the hills. It had grown dark out as the sun just set not too long ago, and the two were more than likely pushing their luck with Felissa's curfew. The frail elderly woman liked to keep a check on them well enough, although the arcs were certainly proving less kind to her health these days. Watching over the boys probably wasn't helping either, since they spent a lot of time working closer towards their goal. She'd often insinuated many times that the farm life was better suited for them, rather than being caught up in the middle of the city and all it's nonstop festivities.

That didn't stop either of them though. Both boys were determined to reach great heights within Rharne, and later this season they'd be making that first step into the city. Sometimes they were so busy with the work that they hardly had chance to come home.... home. Was there such a place there with Felissa and Lexi? Often Pat considered it but he never fully committed the idea, even though neither Felissa nor her granddaughter seemed to mind. Patrick mimicked the roar of a creature of the wild as he chased after her, his grin widened as Lexi laughed and softly screamed in her escape. She sought to evade and elude him playfully but he drew closer to her, his arms held out as the playful predator drew even closer.

How many times did they just run around and play together like this? Not enough these Trials, not since he seemed far too caught up with work. Laboring within Dust Town had never been something Lexi liked, but she never once questioned the intent with the two brothers. After all they had been through, they deserved to earn themselves a place to call home naturally; if that's what the two wanted of course. Even Felissa was never afraid to make it clear to them, that her house was their home as well when they needed it to be. The brothers could never repay that kindness in return, not after the loss they suffered when their mother died.

"What's the deal?! You're supposed to catch me!" Lexi squealed as she shuffled her feet to cover further ground away, until she found herself skipping along as he slowed to a stride.

"Maybe but where's the fun afterwards? If I catch you then the game's over." Patrick reasoned as he panted with a wide grin, actually enjoying himself now that he wasn't caught up in the whole world of work.

"Really? Is that what you think?" She teased him as she twisted around to walk backwards, her hands held behind her as she shot him a playful smirk. Patrick liked that. Ever since they'd grown closer together and spent what little spare time he had with her, he'd done nothing but found himself fonder of her over time. Sometimes he felt that fondness a little maddening or frustrating since he was usually working, but every time they were together all of it just seemed to melt away like... magic.

"Have it your way." He mused with another burst of zeal in his step, the move created another squeal with more laughter; as Patrick already yet again drew in closer. With his arms reached out yet again he growled playfully, and they were about to resume another round of chasing. Yet when Lexi twisted she appeared to trip and fall, a look of surprise on his face as Pat too tried pulling away into a fall. He tucked into a tumble that led him to roll downhill, along with Lexi, the world swirled into a blur and his mind felt it rush all around his head and body. Patrick could've swore he bounced a couples before they reached the bottom, a groan made as he laughed alongside Lexi once he came to a stop.

A Night Under the Stars

For a moment Patrick laid there contemplating matter as to whether it'd hurt too much to move, since his side felt a bit winded from the tumble. Of course he and Lexi both laughed together, before he finally said 'fek it' and turn more so to face her. He threw an arm over her with his face drawn in close, a triumphant grin cast to her as the tips of their noses brushed. "Caught you. Now what's my prize?"

"Oh fek you, you only caught me after we both rolled downhill!" She objected with a playful slap on his shoulder, her lips widened into a grin so she could crane her head slightly. It was then she leaned into him as he did her, their lips met together softly as Pat couldn't help but close his eyes. Not that he wouldn't have mind them being open, just that when he kissed it felt weird watching Lexi with her eyes closed. It was adorable when she did it really, but he only did it just to avoid feeling weird about it in general. Though they didn't kiss as often as he liked, and not just because he was always so busy either. Kissing between them seemed more a combination of private and personal, like they were both only able to do it when they were alone.

Why though? Pat didn't consider it honestly, didn't really make sense to do so. It was just one of those things that happened, never really forced or made to happen; until one of the two decided to initiate it. Lexi pulled back though and shot him a smirk, a gentle pat on his face a couple of times as she yet again teased him further. "There." She added as she turned on her back and settled into him, her eyes up to the stars that started to show. Daylight had just begun to die out it seems, which usually meant they were due back home. But... Patrick honestly didn't want to leave this spot. Doing so meant he'd be leaving another moment with Lexi behind, just to go home and hop into bed, then resume another dumb Trial in Dust Town.

No he wanted to stay here... Hold her close to him as they watched the stars together. "Boy..." He sighed after contemplating them for a moment, the hand of the arm underneath Lexi squeezed affectionately as the two rubbed thumbs together. Patrick honestly bit the inside of his lip some, Lexi the more recurring thought in mind in comparison to the stars. "Yeah fek it." He mused with a quick turn over to face her again, Lexi's face turned to watch him with eyes narrowed for a moment; but the re-connection of their lips created muffled laughter as Patrick laid above her now. While they two were locked in an embrace on the hill side together, Lexi couldn't help but push him off so that she could lean up into a sitting position. When they were apart and Patrick sat in close proximity, he pulled back some and looked away a little awkwardly.

"Okay, Lexi murmured with a tilt of her head and eyes on him suspiciously, what is it? He couldn't really answer. For as long as they'd known one another Patrick had always found it difficult, but then again expressing personal feelings with anybody had never been his thing. "Pat tell me. I won't judge or anything." She faintly promised as she held one of his hands with her own.

"I just... miss you is all. Never have enough free time these Trials, sometimes it's enough to drive me bat shit crazy." He admitted without a look towards her, obviously still uncomfortable with the attempt of coming forth with the thoughts. Lexi on the other hand couldn't help but laugh a little, and that alone warranted him to look at her with a slight frown. "What?!"

"Nothin' you big Fod-sack!" She jeered with a release of his hand, just to bring them up against the light bristles of his face. "Just the reminder of how much I really like you."

A Night Under the Stars

Even though it could've been seen as a insult in some aspect, Patrick found it faulty when she mentioned the word 'like' just then. "Like... how much? Like, like-like or perhaps?..."

"I'm pretty sure you know which like I'm referring to." She assured him with a nod and slight smile, Patrick couldn't help but grin and feign innocence though.

"No, pretty sure I don't." He said to her with a chuckle as he still kind of doubted it. Lexi then moved to kiss him on the cheek, her own rubbed against the light stubble as she moved to whisper inside his ear.

"I love you." She admitted softly. Patrick's eyebrows furrowed briefly as the words hit him hard, his heart suddenly raced as an overwhelmingly good sensation hit him. Lexi.... just said love to him? Why? He felt for her strongly but didn't want to outright believe it love. Maybe it was though? He cared immensely about her for sure, maybe that was an aspect of love in which he felt for her. Being with her always drove him crazy because of these feelings, but like always the time spent apart made being without her even more difficult as well! Lexi had pulled back to see the reaction he made, which evidently concerned her when she could tell he seemed to freeze.

"Say back you fekkin' idiot! Say it back!!" He demanded as he opened his mouth but... he awkwardly uttered nonsense until finally something cohesive came out. "H-how?!" Suddenly in his mind he was beating himself senseless over how ridiculous he was being.

Uh, how?" Lexi tilted her head down with eyebrows raised. "W-what do you mean? How do I love you? Or how much or-"

"No no I- Fek!!" He quickly answered in turn but faltered, a look away as Lexi couldn't help but purse her lips in thought. "I love you too."

Those words changed things. She looked at him from her confused contemplation, eyebrows raised once more as she tested that. "Yeah?" He looked to her with a bit of frown, still obviously upset over the fact he'd just made a big idiot out of himself. Lexi narrowed her eyes then and with one eyebrow raised, she shot him a feisty grin just to annoy the piss out of him. "How?"

"What?"

"How?!" She asked him with a brief laugh.

"Ugh. Nevermind." Patrick sighed as he leaned back to lay down once more, this time more interested in the stars than Lexi. Until he felt fingers on his chest, and her eyes watching him as he tried to avoid looking at her. She always did this to him. It's what drove him fucking wild. No matter how many times he tried to pretend otherwise, she knew exactly how to get under his skin and drive him crazy.

Only now... her hand was under his shirt, tracing a slow circle over where his heartbeat pounded. "Hey..." Her words were a soft warm whisper in his ear, already he wanted to look at her again; but he still feigned anger with her. "Hey..." Finally he gave in and spared a look her way, the silent treatment broken as their noses brushed together. She was above him now, her head craned down to kiss him a little more firmly... with intent. Their kiss lingered but somehow more touching became involved, and slowly while Lexi seemed to rest on top of him; Patrick felt inclinations stir the longer the two tangled with each other.

Needless to say they weren't heading back home, not until after something significant happened between them on this night.
