Strength (Lynessa)

What does the future hold?

Aren't you curious?...

52nd of Ymiden, 717

“Tell me,” Vadoma began, slipping into the chair on the opposite side of the stall and facing the young woman, “What is your name?” It was a simple enough starter question, and she smiled warmly as she listened, fiddling with the deck in her hand. If Lynessa were to be paying attention, she might notice that the deck was once blue with white lines, but after bending them inward, they jumped from one hand to the next, their backings now lavender with labyrinthine designs.

This change did not seem to faze the gypsy and if she noticed, she gave no hints to it. Instead, she shuffled them, balancing the sides on her palm, lifting and dropping them upon one another, “Is there anything you wish to know? Anything you seek?” she watched carefully, her eyes a light brown, with specks of green, “I do believe the cards are eager.”

Vadoma could feel them, warm under her touch. She stopped her shuffling and placed them face down on the table between them. She was curious – could this Lynessa also feel their heat? “Cut the deck, and I will tell you what I see."

... Just a little?

Strength (Lynessa)

Sitting down on the cushioned stool, the young woman smiled at the gypsy. “You can call me Lynessa.” It was a quaint little stall and the older woman immediately started shuffling her cards. Rather fascinated by the deft gesture, Lyn tracked its movements. When the deck suddenly changed colors, her eyes widened, “Nice trick.”

Leth cleared his throat behind her, still clearly not at all happy that she decided to play around. He said nothing though, merely looking at her steadily as he stood behind her. With his straight posture, it was so clearly that he was a knight. Lyn was itching to tell him to slouch a little, but decided against it lest it might piss him off more. No doubt she would get a pleasant amount of lecturing once they returned to the Cathedral.

“I am not quite sure. Nothing particular in mind,” Lyn mused lightly as she separated the cards into two piles and offered it back to the woman. Truth be told, the priestess was no big believer in this sort of thing. She knew that magic ran deep in their world, but having cards telling you the future was a rather doubtful idea. Then again, nothing was impossible. “Anything most people want in this sort of readings, I guess. Love, future, career. Perhaps anything to tell me that I won’t be stuck with this man too long.” At Leth’s rolling eyes, she shrugged innocently.

“If you don’t mind me asking, have you seen many customers today?” the young woman asked lightly. “Anything interesting?”
