Timestamp: 45th of Zi'da, 717 - 19th Break
Location: The Bronze Boar

Wanted: Dead or Alive.

The poster had been nailed to the wooden bounty board that sat outside the Earth Quarter Guard Station for the past arc. Despite the reward increasing incrementally every season, no one had managed to capture - or even spot - Bahati Ekua. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t still in Rharne. People continued to disappear and, after five Rharnians vanished while travelling through the Stormlands during Ymiden, tales told about the slaver grew wilder than ever.

She could put a person in slave manacles and take them to Athart without them realizing.

She could walk past a platoon of Lightning Knights without being recognized.

She could disappear in a poof of shadows and reappear halfway across the world.

She ate children for breakfast and their parents for dessert.

Admittedly, the last rumour seemed less likely than the rest, but it spoke to the fear that had wormed its way into the heart of Rharne’s populace. Children were warned not to be out in the Stormlands past dark, and even grown men had grown warier as they travelled alone between the city and their farms.

Sabine had yet to meet anyone affected by the slaver’s actions, but she knew enough about slavery to spark deep feelings of disgust every time she passed by the bounty. She would think of her father, enslaved to the Andaris family, and she would spend the next break trying to keep herself calm. But she hadn’t felt compelled or capable enough to actually hunt Bahati down; not, at least, until today.

The forty-fifth of Zi’da.

The exact trial when her father was arrested, three arcs earlier.

Maybe she couldn’t help her father today, but she could at least help the people that Bahati had enslaved. She could hunt them down, rescue them from their chains, and bring their kidnapper to justice. Easy as pie.

She just needed a bit of help.

Earlier that trial, Sabine had left twenty-five notes scattered around Rharne. They’d been left on tables in bars and slipped beneath doors and pinned to park trees. While the paper itself varied in texture, the notes all held a common message. They contained a call to action, a request for camaraderie, an appeal to the greater good, and, most importantly, a promise of gold.

“Hate slavery? Have a set of useful skills? Interested in (legally) earning a coin purse of gold? Come to the Bronze Boar tonight when the sun goes down and ask for the woman with the long braid.”

It was admittedly a quick-penned and cryptic message. Perhaps too cryptic, Sabine considered. Her hands tightened around her whiskey glass. A cursory glance around the tavern showed many patrons, but none who seemed to be heading towards the booth she’d commandeered in the back corner of the first floor. She crossed and uncrossed her leather-clad legs and self-consciously smoothed her white blouse as her doubts rose.

Would this be something she’d end up having to do on her own...?

Justice League

He could taste it.

Gods this coffee tasted like sludge, but Guillermos silver line'd it with thinking the sweet taste of victory over his competitors would be all the sweeter then! He felt like he had made a good first impression, arriving on time and in a relatively decent attire. Granted, the bar of Dust Quarter's standards of 'good impressions' was quite a bit lower than that of the Earth Quarter! It was still better than that guy William, with his two different colored socks and macking on the receptionist. What a winner.

He could see it.

The sight of his employer to-be smiling and slouching carelessly back in his velvet throne, holding his own cup'a'joe with both hands as he took in its bitter scent to keep'm awake, was almost adorable. Almost. If we weren't talking about a balding 50 year old man with a smile as crooked as a barstool with two legs. Guillermos proceeded to approach the man and took a seat before him on the other side of the desk. Surely he was getting this job, having done the tests -probably- right and acing the interview with his professional slash comical attitude, boom, set, match and mini wave of midgets-with-funny-hats thrown in the sea in celebration of Guuuuiilllleeerrrrmooossss ~

He could hear it.

"We are going to take a different route..."

Son of a BITCH! It took Guillermos a moment to realize he didn't think that just now, he said that, loud! A few wordstumbles and coughs later, he nodded along with the man's explanation as to why exactly they were going to take the two-differently-socked route, it came down to "Gitout, you're from the Dust!" After hearing the man out, Guillermos stood up with gritting teeth, ready to leave before he blew a vein. But that was unaccounted for the typical kick when someone like him is down. "Can you take my mug to the kitchen too? Thanks lad, you're the best!" Guillermos leaned forward to take the asshole's mug and vowed to cut off its ear and send it to him in a wrapper when he 'accidentally' let it slip past his fingers and -ohhhh nooooooo- let the sludge do its work -allllllll- over the documents and papers on the man's desk.

"Woops! Be a doll and clean this up will ya? Thanks lad, you're the best!"

Mildly satisfied with this turn of events, Guillermos made his way through the Earth Quarter, surprisingly chipper for someone who just got rejected and who was on the verge of starvation. Then reality struck in the form of a painful and embarassingly loud stomach rumble. Quickly thinking what to do now, he couldn't live on his reserves for much longer and he really needed a job. That's when the gods teased him ever so slightly by waving a mysterious piece of paper pinned to a tree in the park he was crossing. Usually he wouldn't think twice of ignoring it and walking past it, but the circumstances were dire and he needed every nudge by lady fortune, so he snatched the paper from the tree and scanned its contents hungrily with his eyes. Coins were promised, along with other less pressing matters, coins were promised was all that really stuck by him!

Evening time, and Guillermos found himself in the Bronze Boar. His tattered clothing, hastily tied together tail and scruffy facial hair were all lill' telltale signs of poverty. And whilst some of the Bronze Boar's patrons recognized them, he didn't let it get to him. As long as they kept their paws to themselves, these fatcats could stare as indignant as they wanted! Having walked up to the bartender, he ordered a cheap ale and asked for if the 'braided lady' was around somewhere. The bartender took a moment to respond, first looking at the sparce coins in his hand, then at Guillermos' cruddy appearance, finally sighing and pointing towards a corner in the back. 'How amusingly stereotypical for shady deals.' Guillermos couldn't help but grin at the thought as he made way towards the booth. Knocking on the table upon arrival, he wished for all that was holy he was wearing a hooded cloak, entering all grim-like from the darkness. Instead he knocked -oddly amuse - on the inside of the booth and introduced himself as Guillermos-Here-Because-Of-The-Message. Taking a quick seat, he carefully placed the still filled mug on the table and prayed to Ilaren that it wouldn't be end up another cup'a'sludge-fiasco, he could feel his stomach trying to eat itself by now. "So, what's the deal?"
