Stronghold of education and learning, this fortress is in one of the coldest areas of Idalos and home to many knowledge seekers in a variety of disciplines. However, unknown to most, below the city are those who suffer for the sake of science. While all are welcome, not everyone will be treated as they expect.

Ymiden, 39th, Arc 717
Saeri's personal room, Viden

hat a rush! In this warm embrace he shared with Saeri, Sin could feel his entire being brimming with energy. Unlike anything he had felt before in his life. Twenty eight arcs spent on Idalos and not a single trial of his life had he felt such a surge of energy. Every little extremity of his body was full of warmth and energy. From the, literal, crown of crystals on his head down to the crystals that made up his toes, Sin could feel the light of his asterism pulse throughout his being. He felt a shiver of excitement run up his... some part of his body.

He tried to open his eyes and found himself quite stuck. It mattered not. In his excitement, nothing could mess with Sin. He moved his arms to hold Saeri closer to him, to try and share this warmth, this energy with her through their physical contact. He could feel her right next to him, all around him. With his eyes closed and the energy brimming within, Sin felt like he could sense where Saeri was the whole time. As he tried to move his arms, Sin found them stuck as well. For a moment he thought he was already squeezing Saeri so tight he couldn't squeeze anymore. Sin quickly tried to stop and let go of her but his arms wouldn't move the other way either.

Throughout all the excitement, the bliss, Sin started feeling panic. What was happening to him? Not a few bits ago he had finally followed his asterism and kissed Saeri. Things had gotten much more intimate from there but he couldn't remember how he could have gotten to this. What was going on? Sin tried to move but found himself stuck, as if the blankets and furs were tying him down tightly. Saeri was still right next to him. He could feel her presence right against him. Had she done something to him? He tried to force his eyes open once more but found them forcefully shut. Panic rose up more and excitement waned as Sin started to fight the bindings that kept him from moving.

He could feel them cracking, slowly. He forced himself out, pushing, fighting, breaking the bonds that held him in place. It required more from him than he could have ever mustered before but his being was so full of energy and power that he managed. The large crystal cocoon wrapped in furs and blankets in the bed next to the open fireplace cracked down the middle. No crystal pieces shattered from it but the cocoon did break, slowly torn apart by an unseen force. Inside, Sin pushed and fought, praying with everything in his being to Aelig to get him out of this mess. He could feel the crystals in his body tense and grind against one another as the bright asterism in his chest pulsed and send more energy to his arms and legs. He could feel his crystals grind against crystals that weren't his own.

When he finally managed to tear himself away from the bindings, the world returned to him fully. From the crystal cocoon, a single crystal person tore himself off. For but a trill, he was made of blue crystal with crystal arms and legs and a crystal crown on his head. A faceless crystal face stared straight at a second crystal person half underneath it. Then the illusion picked back up where it had left and Sintih suddenly fell backwards out of the bed. Whatever had kept him tied up was gone and he had broken free. With his freedom came the greatest loss of his life. As he tore himself away, his asterism disconnected from Saeri's and all that brimming energy and heat dissipated in an instant, gone in a flash, pulled from his grasp by Aelig's chaotic wishes. Cold engulfed his body and his own asterism started fighting again to stave off a slow death. Despite the excited feeling, the energy, the warmth he had felt from their combined asterism, Sin felt the sudden disappearance of Saeri's being around him more clearly than anything else.

The floor was cold and hard as Sin hit it and rolled away from the bed, one foot still half tangled in the blankets and furs, pulling them off the crystal person that had been under him just before. He could feel the pain shoot through his shoulder towards his asterism core. He kicked his leg free, panicked by what had just happened to him and what he'd seen once his eyes opened again. He scraped his knee as he tried to get up on his feet. Where was he? Sin spun around, trying to determine his location, and found himself in Saeri's room. Who was the Yludih that had just tried to... tried to what exactly? Sin had no idea. He turned his head to look at the Yludih and saw only Saeri.

His mind blanked out, overloaded to be exact. The combination of the panic and the realization that Saeri was a Yludih broke him temporarily. Before he could even think about his actions and their consequences, before he could consider the possibility of illusions or secret listeners, Sin chimed in Ulehi at her. "What... What was that?! What are you?" His illusionary chest was rising and falling with his panicked, heaving breath. His eyes were wide as he stared at Saeri.

It felt like nothing Yana had ever experienced before. Her whole body was pulsing with pleasure, overflowing with it, and yet it still ached for more. The mass of crystals that composed her body seemed to be charged with electricity; so sensitive that every touch, every movement caused jolts to leap from one part to the next. It was hard to think. Her mind felt as if a blanket of fog had settled upon it. There was nothing but pleasure to be felt. It drowned out everything else, it consumed her thoughts. Controlled her. She did not care. This was the best feeling in the world, one she would gladly allow to overwhelm her. Despite the insane amounts of pleasure swirling inside, Yana could feel that this was not nearly the maximum amount. This was not the climax just yet. It was still building, ever increasing…

And then, a stirring emerged from their conjoined forms, untangling their intertwined bodies, tearing away the crystals that were not her own. Yana could feel it. She fought it, but ultimately she had no control over those crystals. They might have merged with hers for a while, but they did not belong to her, and nor could she command them. Thus it was that the tidal wave of pleasure came to a halt, suddenly quickly evaporating so close to the point their bodies had been working towards. So close, but now so far away. A true anticlimax. All that anticipation, and nothing to show for it. Yana felt more than a little disappointed. Gone was that sense of unity, of being whole. Gone were that pleasant heat and overwhelming torrent of pleasure.

Yana gave Rathaan a slight frown as he looked around in wild confusion, staring at her with wide eyes.
“What is the matter?” she asked, not too sure what was wrong. Had he not started this? Why had he stopped?

What are you?

For a moment Yana felt a flash of fear. It was the complete and utter shock in his words and on his face that did it. For just a moment she felt as if she had just revealed herself to a non-Yludih Rathaan. But he spoke in Ulehi, and she had seen his crystal form –though only for a moment—thus that fear was merely an illusion. Seeing him like this did give her a sense of deja-vu though. A rather severe one too. As if she recalled something, but not quite. A hint of something that should be there, but wasn’t. Yana ignored it for now. “Same as you,” she replied in Common, deciding using Ulehi was a risk. For a moment she considered telling him to get back in bed, but really, she was fairly sure he was not in the mood for it anymore. That, and the moment was broken, the atmosphere of intimacy quickly vanishing. Yana have a deep sigh and swung her legs over the edge of the bed, sitting up.

“You are a real idiot for a guy so intelligent, you know that?” There was no scorn or anger in her words, only slight amusement and resignation. This was the guy her asterism made summersaults for. Really. “Your befuddlement is cute and all, but come now. You have eyes to see, you have had to sit through the same sex ed, you have gone through experience as me just now, and you have proven time and time again you have a good head on your shoulders. I cannot fathom how you can still be confused.” Perhaps Yana simply was the more observant and rational of the two of them. She got up and sauntered over to him, standing on her toes so she could whisper in his ear. “Or do you need more convincing?” True, the mood was gone now, but Yana figured she could just create a new one. Besides, she was not yet satisfied. How could she be when it had come to such an abrupt and half-baked end?

o casually, so off hand was her reaction to their separation that it took Sin off guard. What's the matter?! You're a liar, a cheat, a deceiver. That's the matter! How could she have been lying to him all this time? Shouldn't he have noticed something in the time they had spent together? As a Yludih himself wouldn't he have sensed something? Had she known about him this whole time and kept it a secret, joking about it with her Yludih friends? But hadn't he done most of those things to her as well? He'd never told her about himself, despite what he thought about her, despite what he felt for her. She was the same as him, every paranoid, deceiving shard of crystal.

He vaguely registered her insulting and praising him in a single sentence as she sat on the edge of the bed. She was very naked, right in front of him. -He- was very naked. The thought suddenly popped in his head. Very naked and, according to his illusion, very much interested in what he saw in front of him. She was relaxed about it as she spoke to him. He didn't fully grasp what she was talking about as he still tried to get over the fact that out of all the Eídisi on Idalos he had picked one that was a Yludih on the inside. How could she be so normal about it? Hadn't he been lying to her for the past few seasons?

She crossed the distance between him and the bed, confidently by the way she walked, and he took a step back before he could stop himself. She didn't stop until she was almost pressed right up against him and for the first time since he had met her, Sin thought she sounded interested in something. She had always sounded bored by life, due to the tone of her voice, but now she sounded like she was enjoying herself, a little teasing, very much interested in him. He quickly put his hands on her shoulders and turned her with him as he sidestepped so he would have more room behind him to flee if necessary. He kept her at arms length before letting go. "You're a Yludih? But... I... Why didn't you ever tell me?" For the same reason you never told her, you idiot.

Born and bred to deceive in order to survive, no sane Yludih would ever reveal their true nature to anyone in Idalos. Perhaps in Uleuda one might feel safe enough to reveal ones identity to another but in Idalos there was always the possibility that someone might overhear your confession. No place was truly private if someone wanted to listen in. "Did you know I was one? Have we met in... back home?" There was a moment of hesitation in naming Uleuda out loud and even in his state, Sin figured it better not to mention anything. "What about your family?" Actually, in asking the question, Sin realized that he knew absolutely nothing about her family, not even the one she might have made up as her cover for Saeri.

In his confused and excited state, Sin felt like pacing or writing or doing something other than stand in front of Saeri. But despite the warm fire and the beautiful woman in front of him, Sin was starting to feel the chill again. Perhaps because of how he had felt being melded with Saeri like they had been or simply because his illness had gotten worse but Sin felt colder than usual, more exhausted. So instead of pacing or throwing himself at some research, Sin stepped back to the bed, past Saeri, and sat himself down on the edge of it, pulling one of the furs to cover himself up. He seemed to suddenly remember Saeri was there as well and patted the space next to him before pulling another of the furs up for her. He'd always known she was military material but seeing it was always better than imagining it. Saeri was indeed a beautiful and strong woman.

Apparently, no, Rathaan did not want more convincing. He had backed away a little instead, and had rotated the two of them in such a way that his back was no longer facing the wall. There was no closeness between them anymore; Rathaan held her at an arm’s length. Did he feel trapped? Threatened? Uncomfortable? It seemed to be the case. Yana’s enthusiasm could not last, the mood from before could not be restored. She sighed and took a step back herself, placing some more distance between the two of them. Did Rathaan even know what he wanted? First he took the initiative, and when it was underway, he cut it off abruptly, and distanced himself as if he’d just realized he’d made a huge mistake. Is that what this was then, what she was to him? A mistake?

She crossed her arms, feeling frustration bubbling up. The one time her interest in this sort of thing had been piqued, the one time she felt like this was exactly what she wanted, it just had to end half-way through in a most unsatisfying way. Great, just great. Just her luck too.

“I do not recall hearing you tell me you are one either,” she countered, falling back to her usual flat tone of voice. What kind of stupid question was that? Why would any Yludih tell anyone they were a Yludih? There were no benefits from doing so. Instead, it could get them… well, whatever happened to Yludih that were outed. The only time Yana would admit to being a Yludih, was when she was already outed, and when denying was no longer an option. “No, I did not know. And I have no idea what your name is, or what you look like. So, possibly, but I cannot be sure.” The glimpse she’d caught of his true body hadn’t been enough to trigger any memories, or allow her to recognize him.

She noticed that her anger was once again subsiding. He was just confused. This had nothing to do with her. Though, the sense of betrayal that hid under his words, the accusations within them, did give rise to another wave of déjà vu. To that, and sadness. Yana had just been glad that Rathaan had turned out to be Yludih too, but apparently, that sentiment was only one-sided. Would he have liked it better if she hadn’t been Yludih? Why did he seem to feel so betrayed by this discovery? Because he realized he knew even less of her than he had thought? But that was also true the other way around. This was an opportunity to get to know each other better, to form a relationship that would have been impossible if both of them had remained ignorant of each other’s race.

“What about my family?” she echoed, unsure of what he meant with his question. What did her family have to do with this? What was the correlation between this situation and her family? Did he want to know if she had one? What they were like? What they would think of this? Yana did not think she had even said anything about her family to Rathaan. So why did he bring them up?

He went to sit back down on the bed, covering up with some of the furs. With a gesture he offered for her to join him, but Yana shook her head instead. She sat herself down near the fire; that was warm too. Besides, as long as Rathaan was going to be wishy-washy about this, she would not get close again. Either he wanted this, or he didn’t. There was no in between for her. And if it was the latter, he could just take his clothes and sod off. Then she could at least sulk by her lonesome and question her life choices. It would be clear that this was indeed a mistake. That opening up had been a huge mistake on her part. If this was what came of it, well, then she did not need it at all. Then she’d just remain “yanah” for the rest of her life… or at least until she was foolish enough to make the same mistake again.

The Yludih took a deep breath, not quite sure how to express herself in a way that she was not misunderstood. It was a difficult thing, but she wanted to make it clear how she felt about this. And she wanted him to be clear about how he felt about this. “Listen, Rathaan. I will be blunt. I like you. I want this--” she gestured towards him, then to herself, and repeated it a couple times. “but what do you want? Do you want this?” She paused for a couple trills, thinking. “I have no idea how this usually works, but I want to try. What I want to hear from you is either a yes or a no. You do not have to decide right away. Take your time. Consider it. Then give me an answer that you feel confident about. No maybe, no ‘Eh, well, I guess I could try, you know’. A yes, or a no. Do I make myself clear?”

"didn't... I... You... I mean..." Sin stammered, trying to find a way to explain that he couldn't tell her because he didn't know she was a Yludih which was why she couldn't tell him the same thing and that's why he couldn't tell her either. He had no reason to blame her for keeping this information from him because he used the exact same reasoning to keep the information from her. Nothing he could say or do would change that fact. Accusing her of whatever would hold no meaning for her either.

So the fact that he was surprised at all of this and she didn't seem too bothered by it was simply their upbringing and personality? Did Saeri care so little for him being a Yludih that she couldn't be bothered by this sudden revelation? Was her view of the world so different from his, despite their racial similarities? Sin shook his head. They both turned to silence as he tried to figure it out, tried to put it all in a line that he could followed while she simply stood and watched him mess up. This all felt very familiar. If this had been a bar in Andaris then it would have been a rerun of their first date. "No, nothing about your family. I just... Just wondered if they were like me... like us."

While her voice made it difficult to grasp her feelings the way she looked at him and the way her arms were crossed over her chest made it very clear just how well liked he was in this moment. Sin sat on the bed as Saeri refused to join him, instead seating herself in front of the fire. He thought about sitting next to her but opted against it. Her behavior was quite clear: he had messed up again. Father... Why do I keep messing this up? Every time I manage to get anywhere with us I manage to ruin it. First at the bar then at the bar with Fridgar and now this. Isn't it enough? Don't you think for once you might just let everything fall as it is? Just let me have what I want... what I deserve?

Before his prayer turned to a full on tirade against his favorite immortal, Saeri's voice pulled Sin from his thoughts. She called his attention to her, like the steward she was, and proclaimed she was about to get blunt with him. He shrank back in defense to the shouting he was about to receive. He never got it. She delivered as promised. As blunt as she could she told him that she liked him. Not with fancy words or anything, just plain old common. Boom, there, dropped the bomb on you, your turn. "I..." He hesitated and before he could answer her question she continued on. Despite her neutral tone of voice and her stern look in his direction Sin could tell that she was on the verge of something. The speed of her words, the intent of her eyes, the way she leaned in his direction as she spoke. The little things he'd come to associate with emotion from her end.

He dropped his head in his hands as he listened to her. When she finished speaking, Sin waited a few trills in case there was another follow up but she remained quiet. He let out a heavy sigh between his fingers. "I am such an idiot..." Again, silence, but he stared intently at Saeri, trying to think properly while she sat fully naked with the warm fire blazing behind her. He spread his fingers out over his cheeks, holding his head. Slowly, his staring turned to a smiling gaze. "I thought he was messing around again... Father... Aelig." He corrected himself twice, realizing that not everyone thought of the immortal in such a way. "Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. All I know is that in this case, I welcome the chaos."

Sin pushed himself up from the bed, the fur sliding from his legs as he stepped from the bed up to Saeri. At the same time she was his commander, a higher ranked knight standing far above him and a beautiful, intoxicating woman at his feet. Sin extended a hand to her, hoping she would take it. "I like you, Saeri LaChasse. I like you and I want this,
us, and I have for quite some time now. So yes."
If she took his hand, he'd help her up to her feet. Not that he would provide much in the way of physical help. Once she was on her feet, Sin would wrap his arms around her, pressing himself against her as he hugged her.

Unexpectedly, Rathaan did not need any time to think it over. As he had been listening with his head cupped by his hands, Yana had expected a negative reply, as he did look as if he was making the worst mistakes of his life. The deep sigh he let escape when she was done talking seemed to imply that he was about to turn her down, but that he did not think it easy. Though not preferred, that was fine. At least he would then not waste both of their time by being indecisive. At least then Yana could reflect on what he had made her go through the past seasons. She had felt feelings grow, she had denied them, feared them, come to accept them, and now she had spoken them. Perhaps she did not show it enough, but she was not really made out of stone; she did feel emotions. However, if met with a negative response, Yana was fully prepared to cast away her feelings and block them off even more secure than before. Opening up meant being vulnerable, and being vulnerable gave people the chance to hurt you, be it intentional or not.

However, as he chastised himself for being an idiot, his expression turned from intense and attentive to the dumb Rathaan grin she had come to associate with this false Eídisi. In that moment she also learned the first of many things he had kept hidden from the world. Rathaan was rather religious. It appeared he believed that Aelig messed with his life on a regular basis, and he even called him “Father”. A devout? It wasn’t really a quality that Yana was too excited about, but each to their own. Besides, at least it was Aelig. It could have been far worse, like Xiur, or Moseke… the so-called –self-proclaimed?—“good” immortals, the “benign” ones.

He welcomed the Chaos, he said, which was a strange way of expressing himself, but it did put a smile on Yana’s face. The way he’d said it… it was a yes for sure. Indeed, he followed it up with his official answer, towering over her as he came to stand in front of her near the fire, giving her a good look at everything he had to offer. She gladly took the hand he extended, and let him pull her onto her feet and then into a hug. In a way, this was even more intimate than their melding to Yana, as now they were on the same page about each other’s race and feelings. Yana felt even more vulnerable than she had before, but this time, it was not a bad sensation, oddly enough. She felt relieved, and safe, and at peace, and satisfied as she rested her head against his chest, arms wrapped around him.

“We still have a lot to discuss,” she spoke softly, believing that for all her anxiety at making her feelings for him clear, the scariest part of all was yet to come. Revealing the truth about themselves. Telling the other the one and only naked truth. Stripping away all those layers of protection fashioned from lies and deceit. Yana wasn’t quite sure if she was ready for this. Perhaps they had already met in Uleuda, and –so the thought occurred to her—maybe he had witnessed one of her episodes. She hoped that wasn’t the case, but it was entirely possible. If anything, she’d rather erase that from everyone’s minds, including her own. “But maybe not right now? A later trial maybe? Or… there if you feel that would be safer?”

t seemed that Aelig approved of his course of action. Either that or the immortal was busy planning something worse down the line, something he couldn't even fathom now. Sin decided to ignore whatever Aelig might be planning in the future and focused on the here and now. The here and now where Saeri hugged him back, shared the warmth of her pulsing asterism with him through their embrace. Through the illusion that allowed them to be like the other races in Idalos, Sin could feel her "heart" beat against him as he pulled her close to him.

She was strong and brave but the hug was soft and caring, lovingly even. For several trills he simply held her not wanting to be the first to let go. It seemed Saeri didn't either as she simply started talking with her head against his chest. "I can think of a lot of things I'd prefer doing than discuss things right now." He leaned back from the hug, keeping his arms around Saeri but trying to make eye contact with her. His smile had a little twinkle of naughtiness to it. He moved back in the hug properly and planted a kiss on the top of Saeri's head. "Although..." A thought popped into Sin's head as the topic of discussion remained in his mind. There were things he did want to know now that he knew who Saeri was, really was.

Sin let go of the embrace, allowing his hands to wander along her back and up to her shoulders as he stepped back. He softly caressed her arms as he let his hands slide down to her hands, holding them and pulling them a little towards him. "Would it be ok if you could show me..." He hesitated, not sure what to call it. Your other form? Sounded quite crude, much like those becomers and their copied magic. The other one? Like she had two people living in her body. He couldn't find a good way to ask what he wanted to ask so instead he opted to show, rather than tell.

He had to dig deep within himself to find it. It wasn't a physical thing so it couldn't gather dust but it definitely was in the equivalent of a forgotten storeroom in his mind under more than ten arcs of gathered mental dust. He'd only ever used it because he needed to practice and learn but once he'd gotten the hang of it Sin had never had to fall back on it. He'd always been the Eídisi squire of the Iron Hand, nothing more, nothing less. No secret identities to swap between and spread chaos in the world. One face for one person. The least Yludih of decisions he'd ever made.

The Eídisi illusion shimmered and flickered as he molded it, picturing the other guy. Several times his true form was visible in between the illusions and then he shifted. The change from one form to the other was a grotesque sight as the illusion stretched and shrank to fit the second form. He seemed to shrink while broadening a bit, quickly looking much healthier. While he was shorter than his Eídisi form, he was still taller than Saeri's form. His dark black hair remained much the same but his skin grew darker as the pale periwinkle made way for a less pale human colored skin. The exotic empty eyes filled with two blue orbs. Both forms were very similar in build and his lean form remained much the same. He still looked a little stretched out but less so due to being shorter. Once the illusion was shaped properly, the natural ability took over and Eídisi Sin had been replaced with Human Sin.

Sin allowed Saeri the time she needed to appreciate his second form and, if she so decided, to show him her form as well. He'd never thought of his second form as a secret, just a skill he had that he never needed. He knew fully well that there were many Yludih out there who regarded their appearances as important secrets not to be shared with anyone. Whether Saeri was one of them or not mattered very little to Sin. He wanted her to know who he was and what he might look like at any given moment of the trial. He did worry a little. What if she liked this form more than his real form? He was an Eídisi in heart and mind, he couldn't live like a human forever.

Whether she had changed her form or not, Sin pulled Saeri to one side, letting go of one hand so he could twirl her around and get a quick look at all of her. The room wasn't very big and with the twirling, Sin had Saeri cross the distance between the fire and the bed quickly. Before she crashed into anything, he stopped her and hugged her again. He quickly shifted back to his more natural illusion. The Eídisi shift took only a fraction of the time the human had taken within several trills Saeri was shorter once more as Sin towered over her again in all his pale, periwinkle colored, sickly glory. He smiled at her and leaned in to kiss her again. He slowly pushed her back onto the bed, placing one knee on the bed as he did so.

With the cheekiest of smiles, he broke the kiss for just a trill. "I think I'm ready to be convinced some more now."

Calling it the best moment of her young life might be a bit of an overstatement, Yana found, as well as it being way too cheesy, sappy, and corny. However, she could not deny that she could hardly recall a time she had been more at peace, at ease, and wishing for a moment to last for an eternity. It was not something she had considered herself longing for, but oddly enough she felt as if she had missed this feeling all this time. As if this one moment was enough to satisfy her. That if she died right then and there, she would not have any complaints. It made her feel as if everything up until that moment had been worthwhile after all.

She enjoyed this feeling, this intimate closeness. It was a simple thing, just a hug, but the rewarding sensation she got out of it was filling her with more warmth than ever before. She could hear the pulsing of Rathaan’s asterism, she could feel his body temperature. She could feel her own warmth being shared with him. She could feel his excitement, pushing against her abdomen. He was enjoying this just as much as she was, it seemed. He leaned out of the embrace then, kissing her on the head, then breaking the hug altogether. From the way his hands caressed her body as he separated, she understood that he did not really want to end this now, fingers remaining in touch with her skin, as if he was afraid she’d dissolve into thin air if he let go. It wasn’t a bad feeling at all, this desperate need for her presence. She felt as if she mattered. Though it was desire and lust too, she reckoned, Rathaan at least cared for her as a person. Not as a conquest, or an addition to some list. It was not for her body –at least she believed—but for her as a whole. Or rather, for Saeri LaChasse as a whole. No matter if he knew only her Eídisi form, all of her persona’s held part of her true self within them. She could not change her personality. She was who she was. Rathaan had fallen for that, she though, just as she had for his. And now was the time to reveal their appearance, as if this were some convoluted blind date.

He shifted then, changing into his other identity. It was a human man, also with a long mane of hair, though it was a bit shorter than his Eídisi form’s. He was not as tall either, though Yana was still just a tad bit shorter. Due to the loss of length, this Rathaan was not as scrawny, but that wasn’t really a good thing. His face was pleasant to look at, and his eyes were blue, which did fit him. However, Yana found he’d lost a whole lot of the features Yana discovered she’d come to like about him. It was a positively odd experience, really. “I like the other you better,” she said, not really elaborating. If she had to give this form a numerical value, it would be eighty-five percent Rathaan. With Eídisi Rathaan being the standard one-hundred percent Rathaan, naturally.

Now the moment of truth had come for Yana though. Rathaan had asked for her to show him her other form, and while shifting in front of someone felt weird and taboo and … wrong… that wasn’t really the problem. Rayna had that horrible scar over her right eye. The one she usually covered up with an eye-patch, the one she did not want to show anyone. However, Yana’s crystal body also had that scar there, although it wasn’t as ugly. In Uleuda, it appeared as a crack, nothing more, nothing less. On the illusionary flesh and blood of Rayna though… Then again, if they met up in Uleuda, which would happen eventually, he would see the scar anyway. And he’d probably only get curious if she did not show her other form. Very well then.

She focused momentarily, picturing Rayna in her mind’s eye with practiced ease. Though the form had seen little use past seasons, the Yludih had been switching from human to Eídisi and vice versa regularly before, and she’d even spent a couple years nearly exclusive as a human. The transition of forms was smooth and fast, the crystals of her body rearranging themselves quickly to fit the human body. It felt as if her body temperature skyrocketed as the crystals slid in and out of place, the illusion of Eídisi form being replaced by that of a human body in a ripple-like fashion.

In just about every way, Rayna was different from Saeri. Though not exactly short, Rayna did not compare to Saeri when it came to height. However, all the crystals that had been used to make her tall were now put to other use, giving the woman some more curves. Despite this though, Saeri did look a whole lot more feminine, Yana found, as Rayna was muscular and rather tough-looking. Her hands were calloused, her torso and arms were decorated by several silvery scars, and some more distinct pink ones. As Rayna, the Yludih sported auburn hair, fuller lips, and green eyes. Or rather, one green eye. The other was foggy and un-seeing, framed by ugly scarring.

She did not stay human for long though. As Rathaan spun her around, Yana shifted back to Saeri, not really enjoying the way her facial scar was naked and visible. Her Eídisi form had no such scars at all, unless the markings counted, but even then, the markings were at least no blemishes. Again he drew her into a tight embrace, shifting back to Eídisi as well. He kissed her then, on the lips this time, and Yana returned the favor, closing her eyes as he gently pushed her down onto the bed. He broke the kiss then, his words earning him an uncharacteristic saucy grin. In a swift couple motions she clamped her legs around his torso, then pulling him onto the bed next to her. In a split-trill she was on top, pushing him down with her hand against his chest. Their faces were barely a hair’s width apart.

“I’m sure you are,” she breathed.

Comments: This was a fun thread to read. Not being real familiar myself with the Yludih, I found the description of the crystal processes and physiology to be interesting, and the reaction to the surprise break in the 'proceedings', a humorous addition. Any comments or if I missed anything feel free to drop me a pm. :)
