You have to dream before your dreams can come true.
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

Saun 1st, Emea

The iron bars, to some they’d represent a prison though if the bars are all you know, then the represent the security of familiarity. The cage was consistent, but sometimes the things outside of it changed. Not always for the better, sometimes it was calm seas and smooth sailing at night, But sometimes “it” came.

A pair of eyes that sat in the dark. Yellow and gleaming they stared at him never blinking, it never growled or approached, the cage kept it at bay, it couldn’t get into his cage but it always waited on the outside. He was convinced it wanted him to come to it, like it was waiting on him. He didn’t want to leave his cage though it was safe inside, so there it sat waiting on him. It had sad eyes, sometimes even angry eyes but for the most part they always seemed sad or lonely. It made him sad too, but his fear of leaving always overwhelmed the sorrow he shared with the thing outside.

So he sat waiting on the night to end, it always felt like a long time when they eyes visited. Hours turned to days it felt like as the gentle rocking motions of the sea lulled him into boredom. The yes moved about sometimes when he wasn’t looking but they never left the shadows, so he was never able to figure out what it looked like, but it didn’t scare him, in fact if there was anything consistent to the creature, it was that it seemed to want to be with him, it would growl at other things in the dark sometimes.

So the two waited adrift at sea, one caged, the other free.

It felt however as if this night was different, there were unfamiliar footsteps about, the creaking of the ship did not conceal the presence of another in the quiet night. Looking about he searched for whatever it was, but the almost solid darkness concealed everything more than a few steps away from his cage.

Eyes and Tattooes

It was dark, that was the first thing she noticed as she opened her eyes and looked around. Since when had Saun ever been dark? Kali blinked in the darkness, holding her hand in front of her and waving it, just to be treated by more of the same black void of nothingness. The young woman noticed she was sitting on a deck, and by the sounds of it she was on a boat. There was the familiar creaking of wood under the push and flow of ocean waves, not to mention the smell of the sea salt. Frowning, she moved to stand, looking out in the darkness across what she could only hope was the ocean. Slowly, as she stood and waited, her eyes adjusted and she noticed finally there were stars in the sky. No moon though, and the constellations weren't quite right.

"Hello?" She called out with a small pit of concern in her stomach, feeling like her voice was being muffled by the darkness itself. Nothing but the creak of the boat and swoosh of water answered her back. Reaching out, Kali moved blindly forwards across the deck in the pitiful starlight, stumbling over unfamiliar terrain. This was not The Muse, that much she was certain of. Making her way along with outstretched arms, the brunette tripped and fell to her hands and knees with a yelp and noticing the outline of a hatch under her fingers. Feeling for the pull ring, she sat back and ripped it open. Even deeper and consuming darkness greeted the Sev'ryn, and she felt her breathing speed up with a slight twinge of panic.

It was far to familiar, to step into a dark gaping abyss. Far too much like her nightmares.

Scrambling back from the hatch, she sat back on her hands breathing heavily and trying to still her thumping heart. The brunette had absolutely no desire to make her way downstairs, and yet looking around she realised there was nowhere else to go.

"Where am I?" The huntress muttered, turning her gaze back to the hatch. Swallowing her fear, Kali reached to her back, relieved to find her bow slung across her shoulders and her quill on her belt. At least she wasn't without a weapon.
