17th Cylus 717
Four trials. He'd been gone for four trials, and this is the sort of news he was bringing home. Fridgar had wrapped up warm in his black leather jacket, paws in his pockets. His breath formed clouds of white that quickly dissipated in the perpetual night. What changed? He'd loved her before the ball, hadn't he? His first love, Rey'na. The mountain of a Lothar continued his journey through the frozen woodlands, his eyes glued to the snow before him. What had he done? What was he doing? His thoughts drifted while he walked.
They'd first met early Zi'da, the 23rd. She saw him mid-becoming, took him in, fed him and gave him a place to stay, the cabin he'd grown so comfortable in. Just seven trials later, an Aukari had started a fire in their woods, Fridgar challenged him and Rey had been there for his support, even going as far as wanting to kill the poor guy. A few trials after that, he returned home completely destroyed with a few broken bones various body bruises and lots of bleeding. For the next twenty trials, she didn't leave his side, nursing him back to health and keeping him company in his inability to move.
As soon as he'd recovered, he went out for a walk in bear form to get back into the swing of things, he met another Lothar who tried to attack Rey, who'd followed him. Naturally, he had to end the Lothar's life, but was interrupted by some sort of dispute between Alistair and a god. The Lothar got away, but he'd recognise his scent from a good eighteen miles away. Sometime after that, he went out for a drink, she went out looking for him and got attacked, the Biqaj called her a whore and everything, he couldn't have hit the floor faster.
He awoke from his thoughts as Rey’na’s cabin came into view. His heart couldn't have sunk any deeper, why did he have to arrive so soon? By the Immortals, why did he have to fall for someone else? With misery in his eyes, he approached the front door, took hold of the handle and paused. If he did this, there was no going back, ever. He wouldn't mess her about, she deserved better than that. This decision would be final. So be it He pushed the door open and stepped inside, Rey'na was cooking something or other. The last they'd spoke, he'd told her that he loved her and gave her a kiss goodbye. His stomach churned as if ashamed of his own disloyalty.
"Hi, Rey'na." He spoke, his eyes unwavering in their seriousness. Say it, we need to talk. Don't pussy out now. the voice in his head reminded, having noticed his sudden silence. "How are you?" he asked, stepping in and closing the door behind him. He couldn't meet her eyes, only her general direction. With a heavy exhale, he walked over to the table at the edge of the wall and took a seat, opposite his old bloodstained room. "Can we talk?" His voice came soft, as if trying to cushion the blow to come.
