She could tell his simle was forced, though whether that was from her taking it too far, or just him trying to hide his obivous anger, Valyeria couldn't tell.
She watched, silent, as Andras' elbow crashed into the side of the man's head. It wasn't something she'd ever be able to do- the strength required to knock a man out cold was far beyond what she'd have without extensive training- but nevertheless she noted his technique. Maybe one trial it would come in handy.
The man, meanwhile, had crumpled to the ground in a heap, his head barely stopping before it smacked against the stone.
"Nice catch," she murmured, her voice back to normal. When he turned around, he seemed more relaxed.
"This is part of it at least. Convinced you never would've been able to charge me yet?" Quickly, she shifted to Nightshade's form, growing to stand several inches taller. She shifted again, turning into the old woman. "Oh, I don't know what you're talking about! I woke up this morning in here!" Finally, she shifted back to Alex.
"But does it really matter what I am? The point is that it's helpful. Just leave it at that."
There was no need for her to tell him more. Then she'd be giving away secrets that might be best kept for the shadows- to a guard, no less. Now granted, he wasn't the most scrupulous of men, but she disliked the idea of helping to harm her race.
She turned to him in the dim alley and stared up at him. "So, are we even now?" She paused and looked pointedly down at the body between them. "And what are we going to do about this?"
