The Vault

In the icy winter of Cylus 718, an avalanche in Scalvoris Mountains revealed mysterious cavern tucked in above a massive ravine. It is almost a full day's hike through the mountains to reach it. A Darbyton Ranger can always be found watching over the entrance from a safe distance. The Rangers are rather superstitious and do not trust it in the least. The earliest explorers ventured inside to find a heavily constructed door, with three hand prints in the face of it. The door is covered in inscriptions and runes of an unrecognizable language. All through the cave leading to the door are these inscriptions, images of beings and monsters etched into the wall, elaborate carvings and paintings, a treasure trove for archaeologists, though none have managed to get there yet. But it is only a matter of time.

The larger issue at hand is that none of the earliest adventurers have managed to get the door to open. They've used every tool, contraption, and method they could imagine and still, it has not budged. Those that found it and reported back to town have begun spreading rumors that only the chosen ones can be allowed to enter, though none of these are substantiated. But one thing that most seem to be certain of is that this place predates mankind.

OOC Rules and Info

1. All threads about going beyond the Door are modded only, ideally by a Scalvoris Mod.
2. Threads outside the door do not require moderation, but moderator input may be needed for information on the inscriptions and the like.
3. One modded thread at a time in this location.
4. 3 PCs Maximum per attempt
5. Subsequent attempts must be made by a different party structure than previous attempt.
6. Party structure must include 1) at least 2 races 2) at least 2 genders
7. There is a very real possibility of serious injury and death. You've been warned.
8. Mod threads will be of a 1 post per week minimum pacing, faster if all replies are done.
9. Each PC may only be signed up once at a time. Sharing is caring. Upon completion (success or failure) of the mod thread, the PC may sign up again.
10. If you do not have a pre-formed party, I will create one via the first queued people that allow for an applicable party.
11. This is a Mod Experiment I (Aegis) am trying, so everything is subject to change/balancing.
