The pressure of Faith's hand in his brought a smile to Padraig's face, and he squeezed back in response. Of course he supported her. But at the same time, he believed just as strongly in what he had to say. And he knew, but his expression was an encouraging one. What she needed to say, she ought to. The things that had happened in the past, had happened. And though it wasn't something he gave thought to on any given trial, they bothered him as much now as ever. Speaking about it openly, didn't make the difference between more and less.
He was proud of her too for what she'd done with Cally's. And what Cally's in turn was doing for the community and those most in need. That, he thought, was activism of the best kind. And if he was proud of that, he was even prouder of how determined she was. Tenacious. She didn't shrink away from a challenge, not even those that promised a great deal of trouble and resistance. And if activism or political position was what she wanted, then he was behind her from start to middle to finish.
As for him, an education in politics? Padraig grinned and raised his hand in mock protest. Or rather, the sentiment at least was genuine. "I appreciate the offer, but not for me I'm afraid. I'm all in for debates over an evening meal. But I've discovered that just among the staff and students at the university, there are more than enough politics for me to get my fill of it." And then some, he thought dryly.
