40th Ymiden, 718
Ela sat and pondered for a trill, remembering what she had done this season. Something about it had been bothering her, though she couldn't tell what. It was as if what she did felt wrong to the girl, which was beyond unlike her. She was Bloodclaw, the Mortalborn of Karem. Predatory instincts filled her, as did a craving for blood. Why would she feel remorse, ever? Of all times, why now? She'd killed many people, torn them apart herself or had her animals do it. What was so different now?
Sensing her frustration, Redfang rubbed himself against the girl, before resting his body lightly over her legs as she sat against the wall. Ela lightly stroked him, while Aila sat at her side and nuzzled lightly. All of her animals had an affinity with her, a bond, one that grew with each hunt. They all respected one another, cared for one another. Every animal had a place in her heart, and these were no exception.
Meanwhile, at the mouth of the cave, two animals waited patiently, resting while also keeping their eyes open for anyone passing by. Alrur and Darkfur had been sat there quietly for almost a break now, with nobody or nothing passing by - until a silhouette came closer. Immediately, Alrur started barking, causing Darkfur to roar incredibly loud at the woman that approached. Instead of leaping for an attack, however, Alrur ran inside to the Mortalborn - Darkfur following.
When they got in, Alrur bit lightly at her clothes and tugged. Ela knew that meant one of two things - Karem or Kura. At least, she assumed so. Alrur had never met any of her other friends, and if it had been an enemy he would have kept barking until they got too close, then pounced. Neither had any business with the girl, as far as she knew. Curious, she whistled the animals off her, all standing to her side, before walking to the mouth of the cave.
"Kura?"
