Kill-Haul the lot of em!

59 Zida 717
He was tired, quite, from how he exerted himself to reach back to Foster's shore with the weight he dragged behind him all the way but he had no time to rest. The ship was already set ablaze, right on the water with nothing else to conceal it from anyone else. It would only be a matter of time before some of the curious people who lived at the Bay to arrive and then, the scavengers looking to get whatever they could from the doomed pirates. F'mos had to act before that could happen. To secure whatever he could for himself and then, leave before anyone else could make a claim of what was his. Pirates or the people of Foster's, one was just as bad as the other; the lot of them looking to enrich themselves no matter who they had to harm.

The moment he landed and turned back, F'mos secured his barrel of ill-gotten gains on the shore before he retrieved his proper equipment from where he hid them. Now he would have a chance against those pirates, if any of them did reach the shore. He could only hope they brought with them some of their treasures and valuables. Those which he could not reach because he would have been too suspicious which carried the risk of being discovered and, would not have been able to drag back in his puny form anyway. Sure he was more than prepared, a fire was lit by him; one he hoped would act as a beacon. To attract the pirates to where they think is safe waters, a safe spot to land and perhaps gain some assistance from any unwitting passerbys.

Instead they will find one more brazen than any pirate who will wait, weapon in hand to relieve them of their goods.

One may think F'mos would be relying on Chrien to send the pirates his way but the aukari was not going to rely on any immortal. Instead it was all a part of his plan. He had deliberately left some of the lifeboats on the ship untouched, the ones closer to Foster's and where he now waits. Together with the fire he lit, he was sure it was no longer even a possibility but a certainty at least one of the surviving groups would head his way. There may be some which would head to other parts of the Bay and possibly meet with some other people, but he had no control over that. He only needed the one and with that, he would be content; especially if it was only the one group.

And with that as he lay in wait in anticipation of his marks, concealed within the darkness of the night as well as the natural foliage present at the Bay so neither pirates nor passerby would get the drop on him, he had his bow out and arrow nocked. Ready to make the first shot, to whittle down the pirates and the resistance he expected he would have to face the moment they reached land.

Kill-Haul the lot of em!

He was ready to investigate the disturbance at the port, his enterprising mind had already established that hed left Sons Of Justice he was now an ordinary free lancer working under his own slogan Lemon Tree Inc. He liked his motif hed been working on but couldnt afford tabards, this looked pretty good.

The man was adorned in plate armor and had his shield strapped to his forarm, his helmet was on as he stood at the ready to see who the people were. It would have been an absolutely awesome personal relations moment to save a bunch of people in the community from a burning ship, put his enterprise out there and look good in the public eye. But some how Vorval didnt think that was the case.

Luwellyn watched on clenching onto her combat spear, she was geared in thick chainmail. She wore no helmet so her blonde hair fluttered nonchalantly in the breeze as she peered over the tide and positioned herself behind Vorval in rehearsed formation so if shit got real she could assist him by fishing for mortally wounding blows safely at a distance while using Vorval and his heater shield as a barrier theyd perfomed a similar tactic at the trove. Shed seen some shit and been in it this season so knowing what to do to prepare herself, was almost becoming second nature to his squire.

Vorval made certain his weapon the gladius would be ready as whatever was rowing from the burning ship to shore was inching its way closer and closer to them. And while he wasnt sure what to make of this, he was starting to wonder about this sinking feeling he was getting that this wasnt a helping hands promotion.

He was ready, and so was his partner.

Kill-Haul the lot of em!

Even if the fire attracted quite a bit of people who have yet to turn in for the night, likely because the whole lot of them were miscreants with mischief best left to the shroud of darkness as he himself had made use of, none came close enough to him to be a threat or an interruption; which meant he could still proceed according to his plans. With no rush or no pressure, he leisurely adjusted his bow to line up with the passengers of the lifeboat he was after and together with that convenience, the windy conditions of the night breeze towards them would mean a much higher chance of success for him.

His first shot was to measure the limits of the distance he could reach which because of the dark, the pirates had probably thought it was something else which dropped into the water. The second had to wait for another bit for the boat to actually reach there. It was not so much as a possibility but an inevitably for the pirates who wanted to land safely on shore, just like one of the aukari's arrows which lodged itself deep into them. With that boat all cramped up with bodies, F'mos did not even need to his target; he only had to hit. The pirates only realized they were under fire after the fourth shot which took down another of their number. F'mos could hear their panicked cries, but he just did not care.

With only their former vessel on fire behind them, far away from land, the pirates had no choice but to pick up the pace. The boat approached shore faster and the pirates which remained which were well aware of the attack, were able to hide behind the bodies of their fallen mates and whatever ill-gotten loot they brought along with them. However as they were unable to determine where it was the sneaky aukari had hidden himself, their landing lined them up nicely for another shot which F'mos took advantage of and another pirate was down as they tried to lift their loot.

Cautious now that the pirates were so close to him, F'mos ceased his attack to observe the greedy bastards still intent on leaving with whatever they brought with them from their ship. When he was sure there was only two of them, he decided there was no better time than to try and end it while they were still otherwise occupied. Their back was turned to him as they were lifting their things from the boat and there was no reason for F'mos to not take his shot. He was not like some of the people he knew in Etzos, too deluded by their own aspirations of heroism to not make use of every advantage they had available to him.

As he did not even want to risk a chance of the survivors being able to fight back, the aukari's shots were shot in rapid succession and only one had to hit, as it did. The sole pirate which remained yelled in anger and while F'mos should be worried of the man's approach with that large chunk of wood in front of him to block off his shots, he was more worried of the attention it might bring. Then again, what were the chances of that? With so many other escaped pirates all over the shores of Foster's, it was more likely any interested party may be otherwise occupied with them to make use of the opportunities which the most exciting event of the night had dropped right into their lap.

Although, anything those people might want to do was not the aukari's concern. His bow dropped, his blade drawn, F'mos made a yell of his own to get his opponent's attention and to save himself the trouble of having to approach on his own initiative.

Kill-Haul the lot of em!

However despite the manner his opponent stumbled and fumbled towards him in a rush to take F'mos down, the few shots the aukari did make were still blocked if the darkness did not throw him off. He made another shot in hopes to finally end it but was momentarily distracted by the commotion made by other newcomers nearby him. They were quite obviously occupied with their own pirate troubles but the absurd talk of lemons and threes did not make any sense. At least as far as F'mos could tell, there were only the two and what did lemons have to do with a pirate attack anyway?

Still, there was no questioning the cultural oddities of the Etzori.

Watching the other group able to push the pirate escapees back towards the water would have been something to increase the aukari's own morale as, even if he was not a party to them, he would have the very likely possibility of backup should he prove unable to subdue this one pirate. It would seem something he would truly need as the few thrills his attention was elsewhere was more than enough for the pirate to close in on the distance. A curse on that man and woman for filling him with those expectations, his own cries of help which went unnoticed among the excitement of the beach to bring another curse to himself; he did too good a job with his choice of spots to spring his ambush from.

Only one slab of wood in between him and the pirate with himself being pushed back meant F'mos was in a dire situation with no way out he could find or at least, that was the case until the pirate tried to intimidate F'mos by promising he would kill the aukari's other allies hiding in wait after he did the downed archer in. Being distracted only moments ago, F'mos decided it was worth a shot and yelled to no one in particular, "I'll hold him up and keep wood down. SHOOT HIM!!" At that same moment the aukari began his struggle to do just that and the pirate, after a few thrills to process the instruction F'mos had given, struggled to prevent the conditions of what could be an effective killshot on him.

F'mos kept up the struggle of getting the slab of wood towards him while his opponent did the opposite, but only a few moments. Once he was sure the pirate was fully committed, with no hint of concern for any other possibilities, he pulled the wood to his side and then released it which had the pirate tumble and crash right beside him. With only a thrill to catch his breath he rolled over and secured the slab which was immediately pressed on the unsuspecting pirate. Unable to secure a proper position to prevent the aukari from mounting him, he pirate was unable to resist effectively and F'mos was able to smother any chance of victory for his opponent and oh, keep the seaman silent so no more unneeded attention would be brought to his position.

And no need to explain himself to anyone, or share the spoils with them...

So engrossed on a victory, not being killed because of his own poor approach to his attack on the survivors and, the prize of the barrel, F'mos barely remembered to stop short of killing the pirate. With no other survivors, he needed this specific pirate, alive. After he had a finger at the throat, the method he was taught by Sirothelle to check of a potential survivor to any incident, he was sure the pirate lived and secured the man; both waited together a little bit a ways from the sea though still, only the light from the burning ship remained. Enough so F'mos could count his ill gotten gains from the other pirates he downed although the contents of the barrel they brought with them which sloshed as he pushed it was something he could only study back in his lab.
