Six foot tall, athletic build - not bulky, not scrawny. Behind layers of patchwork clothing, he appears average in constitution and health. Silver in his hair dominates what was once a wheat brown, ends poorly cut in knife-edge trims. Thick gray stubble covers his lower face, jaw, and neck. His eyes reveal a warm caramel color. Dirt and charcoal are smudged over his face and hands, dark soot painted around his eyes. He has several scars, but most of them are so old and paled, they might as well not be mentioned due to the difficulty to see them among all the grime on him.

Ichabod Hyde is a man of few words. He trusts few. He believes in few things. One could call Hyde a right minimalist in this trial and age. He doesn't like to have a lot of possessions, and he doesn't stay in one place for very long. He's willing to share a drink, but won't share a story. Leave him alone, and he'll leave you alone. Bother him and he'll ...you'll have to find out, won't you?

Born in Darington, at the south end of the Etzori territories and the north end of the Rhakrosian jungles, Ichabod had a rough and tumble upbringing that had less to do with his parents - both proficient leather workers, mother from Foster's Landing and father from Relay - and more to do with the other kids he hung out with. He easily followed along with schemes, pranks and worse, often tempting danger. It was sheer luck of the draw that Ichabod survived this. Most of the kids he grew up with, didn't. And he was long gone before any plagues hit Darington. Ichabod traveled through the Etzori lands, deciding to go on a pilgrimage to the capital city and see if it was all that the visitors said it was.

Needles to say... he wasn't impressed. Ichabod didn't particularly like the city nor the folk within it. He didn't linger too long and kept traveling north. Ichabod bounced around towns, settlements and cities, until he ran into a woman who he particularly favored. It was a tale as old as time, when she tracked him down on the road one trial and demanded that he give her coin because he'd gotten her knocked up! This led to a drawn-out argument that lasted easily thirty-trials while the two traveled southward.

Finally, Ichabod agreed that he'd escort her home to her parents so that they could care for her and the child that was nearing term.

...Only problem: her home was Rhakros.

Ichabod swallowed his Etzori-bred Darington roots, and he kept to his word. He took her back home to Rhakros... and ended up staying there for a good few arcs. He didn't like it any more than how he'd liked Etzos, but by the time that they'd arrived, his child near popped out as soon as they crossed the city's threshold. One look at the babe and Ichabod couldn't drag himself away when he had nothing to do and nowhere to go, other than his old folks up in Darington.

So he got a good and honest job, supplemented with some less-honest work on the side, and lived with the woman in a cottage house he'd bought them in Rhakros. It wasn't until the kid was six with cherry red hair and a fire in his veins, that the truth came out from the woman. The kid wasn't his, at all! It was some half-breed Aukari mutt from a guy in Sirothelle. A guy that Ichabod had even worked with at one point, when they'd all been working a bounty together.

He packed up his bags and left the next trial, leaving all the coin he had on the table for them. Ichabod went to Ne'haer for a time, but it wasn't enough so he sailed elsewhere and bounced around cities.

He was in Nashaki when he heard the news about Lisirra's siege on Etzos in Ymiden 719. As soon as he heard that, he packed up again (he'd gotten rather good at it by then!) and headed back to his homeland.

Ichabod Hyde is back in the Etzori territory now... and he isn't too happy about it.
