Ilinis bolted up in bed, sweat clinging to his sheets. It had to all be a dream. There was no way it had all happened. He suddenly felt a burning sensation on his ankle, the same as when the fire had licked against his skin as he had foolen the little wooden girl. He clawing at his clothes revealing his flesh. Suddenly, the burning stopped. Around his ankle a soft green light glowed, weaving under his flesh. When it stopped, all that remained was a large circle of soft green vines. He cursed and jumped out of the bed as he screamed. "Edasha! I know you can hear me, you deceiving whore! How could you do that to us?!"
As he ran about his house searching for water he continued to curse her. The bitch had tricked them all. She had forced them to kill innocent people in her name all for some halo. He stopped. The halo. He didn't even get that from the ordeal? He had sacrificed so much in her name and to gain power to avenge his power only to get a replica. He found the pack of items at the foot of his bed, and he tosses them about the room searching for the faux-halo. "It has to be here somewhere! That at least had to be real too!"
He finally found it in the bag, and he cradled it to his chest. He laughed bitterly to himself. This worthless trash was all that remained. He pulled his canteen of water from the items, poured the water on his ankle, and began to violently scrub the flesh, willing the vines to leave him. The harder he scrubbed, the redder his skin became. Eventually, the flesh tore, but still the vines remain.
He wasn't certain how long he remained on the floor of his home, ankle bleeding, and clutching the fake halo. He rocked back and forth. Edasha was the cruelest immortal he had ever met -- the only immortal he had ever met. He rocked back and forth. So many people had died in the maze, and it was all her fault. He rocked back and forth. He heard Niv's voice. "I brought the frogs and bugs here and I just wished for water for your bite.” She offered a smile to the Ilinis and moved a little bit closer to where he lay rocking on his floor. “Anything to help a friend.”
He rocked harder and closed his eyes. She wasn't there. She wasn't there. After a moment he calmed himself. She wasn't there. He knew that. It was okay. He opened his eyes, and she was directly before his face. "What's wrong, friend? Can I see your flower?"
He screamed and struck out at the image before him. He saw the shock on her face, the same as it had been in the maze. She hit the ground and her body burst into flames. She screamed. He rocked back and forth. "It hurts! Make it stop! Ilinis make it stop!"
He began to cry as he rocked back and forth harder. He mumbled over and over with her as she screamed. "Make it stop. Make it stop."
