Drunken Tales [Valkan]

Image
When Valkan replied to Freya in her tongue, she quirked a brow and then laughed outright, his broken speech and senseless accent added to the humor of his words as he spoke. She curled a hand around her mouth in hopes of maintaining decorum, but it was useless.
“Sea otters?” She laughed. “Why, I thought to compare to a clown fish than a sea otter. What an honor.”
Freya noticed the way his eye caught as she'd leaned upon her elbows, the smile situated on her lips turning from one of amusement, to one of intrigue and flirtation. His attention was fixed to her, the alcohol liberating both people from their restrictive mannerisms and mental guards.
“For a foreigner, you're speech is quite well.” She complimented softly, her voice edged with a seductive lull. “My Common is horrid in comparison, heheh.”
Then he'd humored her with a story, a very humorous and well thought out story that had Freya blushing, laughing, and grinning all throughout the tale. His gestures and the way his voice carried gave way to vivid imagination as she saw what he had apparently seen in her mind. Freya nearly spat her ale out when he mentioned 'Hammock Swinging' and simply crumbled into a fit of laughter as he took another drink from his cup, proclaiming its truth.
“So truth, yes.” She giggled out once the laughter subsided. Without pause, she lifted the tankard to her lips once more and downed the rest of the ale just before dropping the cup back onto the table with a rather loud 'thud'. Some time had passed since Freya drank as much as she did tonight. The ale numbed her body and mind and she was starting to become careless with her words. Valkan's story was humorous, if it was even true, and it brought up many things Freya thought about over the course of the arc. Namely Kian and where he'd wandered off to. As if to erase the thoughts of him from her mind, Freya shook her head slowly and drifted a thin finger around the rim of her mug.
“Are you a man of many stories?” She asked, looking up at him with a light smile. "You seem like one. I'm sure your woman appreciates the tales you must spin for her. What a lucky lady." Of course, this was an act to fish for the more private details of Valkan's life, but the way she told it, Freya's compliment seemed genuine.
Just then, an individual entered the Crest Break that held an air of familiarity. Freya glanced, not expecting her contact to stare back at her from across the bar. She did a double take to make sure she was seeing him correctly. Yes, that was him and not the alcohol. He was late, thus their business would run well into the night and of course, the woman was beyond tipsy. A scowl reached her lips as she turned back to Valkan.
“I'm sorry...” She told quickly. “I have to go. Um—“ The woman paused, wondering what excuse she could give but had none. Watching his features, Freya smiled and rose, moving to press a kiss to his cheek. “Talk again? Come back soon.”
And before he could have a chance to respond, Freya moved through the bar, towards her contact, and other the door the two went...

Drunken Tales [Valkan]

Image
It pleased Valkan that Freya enjoyed his silly story, the Biqaj taken in a fit of laughter at the conclusion of the tale. The Hiladrithian, his blood and brain thoroughly soaked with ale and liquor, grinned broadly and sputtered into laughter of his own, inspired by the amused barmaid.

They had been bereft of much of their inhibitions, and as a more playful tone swept across the beautiful woman's features, Valkan's gaze remained fixed upon them. The night with Freya was the most enjoyable he had had in many trials. The Biqj woman was fun and as easy to talk to as she was on the eyes. He could not avoid the thoughts that prodded at his sodden brain, as eyes settled upon her full lips as she spoke, the curve of soft shoulders, the swells beneath her garment...

His woman, lucky lady? Valkan's errant attention focused again on the content of the words spilling from Freya's delicious-looking mouth. It was an obvious ploy, a kind of unspoken code to test the availability of another for 'the next step.' Valkan was about to proclaim his utter lack of attachment to any woman, but the brilliant eyes that gleamed with such interest shifted hue as the pupils settled on something over his shoulder. Her visage fell, smile waned, brows furrowed. The face that turned back to him was void of the warm invitation, as flat as a banker's. Freya suddenly excused herself.

"Wha..." was all the soldier could get out before Freya was on her feet and at his side, pressing a chaste kiss to his cheek. With a quick quip to 'come again' she fled across the room. Valkan's eyes followed, his face quizzical. Freya stopped before a man near the door, then turned and left with him.

"What the fekking dog slag was that?" He muttered to himself. A boyfriend? a brother? a pimp? Things were going so well, and like that, she up and left. Valkan sighed. Well, he did get a peck on the cheek and a rain check. Better than nothing. He drained his mug of ale, then finished the last of Freya's. "Well, thanks for the drinks." He scoffed. Standing from the table, the soldier navigated the tavern room after a moment to orient his cloudy head, then stalked out into the street and back to the inn at which he was staying.

Comment: Wow! I had to reread a couple times just to get a feel of what was going on in the thread, but I'm glad I did because this turned out to be wonderful and enlightening read between the two! To be honest I wasn't entirely sure what to consider lore in this thread, so if you feel I missed anything then please nudge me via pm!

Freya: Great work and awesome structure. As always the butchering of Common is fun to read and interpret, and wonderful collaboration between you and Valkan! Loved it!

Valkan: Reading your posts I literally fell in love with your structure and your choice in words, I literally have taken a mental page of your writing style and hope that I might apply it to my own in the future. Great work to you sir! Loved every bit of it.

Great work you two! Again I was vividly pleased with reading this meeting between them. If you have any questions or concerns then please do nudge me with a pm!
