She was raised with her clan, they taught her all she knows about the sea, her heritage, and all other things that make her biqaj. Her clan name is Raj’Toraj or Light of Truth and she has been taught that kindness is always, first and foremost. After leaving her family in her late 20’s and buying her own sloop she wandered near and far around Idalos selling her fish and frequenting bars in order to gamble.
They say reality hits you right in the face. The story of her Ilaren blessing is quite the tale and one she is locally known for in Volta. She was in the most popular tavern in Volta. After having quite a few drinks, dancing with everyone in the tavern who was able to stand, kissing the bard on the lips, and doing a shot with the bartender, Singwi rocked up to the gambling table. She sat her heavily inebriated butt on the chair directly beside a red headed woman and paid her money to gamble. Little did she know those at the table that night were out to scam, card sharks of the lowliest kind, and by the end of the night would rob both she and the red headed woman blind. During the moment that both women realised that they were dealing with scammers both leaped to their feet ready to take to fisticuffs-- but instead Singwi placed a hand on the red head’s shoulder and steadied her. “I got this”, Singwi said in slurred Rakahi, then started yelling about scammers and thugs-- In a dramatic twist she leaped on top of the table to beat one in the face with a mug of ale but instead broke the table in half with her weight. As it would turn out a few of the regulars at the bar had been scammed by these people before though not able to prove it, and what would ensue was a massive all out brawl in the tavern with Singwi jumping from table to table yelling about “give me back my money!”.
In the beer foam and bloody chaos the red headed woman revealed herself as Ilaren while the two were crouched under a table. She asked Singwi if she would like a lightning blessing, her exact words were
“Do you promise to drink all you can, use your voice and fists for those who are small, and do you PROMISE to always hold within your heart the virtue and honor that is my name?”
Singwi was astounded, unable to decide at first if what was happening was real she solemnly shook her head yes-- a massive grin spreading on her face. A mug of ale came soaring towards them and in a moment of what we could call “divine intervention” Singwi reached out to grab it by the handle but unfortunately they were soaked in a massive amount of rum. Ilaren took the mug and refilled it, telling Singwi to drink deeply from its contents. She drank and drank and drank from the mug as Ilaren placed her rum slippery hand over Singwi’s heart to add the silver colored lightning strike that marks someone with Palenon.
With that, a bright blue flash and crackling noise was made in the bar, and everyone blanched. Ilaren was gone when Singwi’s eyes adjusted. Head spinning she looked around and saw in front of her the regulars with a few men and women grabbed up in their arms. “Who did it!?” they cried, “tell us Singwi!” And she named the thieves who had plagued their gambling pits for seasons around Volta and Rharne. In the end the woman was a local hero and Volta has been one of her favorite haunts since.
After becoming blessed her life didn’t change much other than the amount of brawls seemed to go up by a few more a season. She sailed around, fished, drank and gambled in pubs, and basked in the sun like a biqaj will always do.
