To-trial should have been like any other stormy trial. One of a quiet calm that seemed to always engulf cities even with the crashing of thunder and flashing of lightning. To the contrary though, there were still quite a few people out and about on the town today, enjoying nature. This would be one of their few trials off as it were, storm or not.

Ashan's Trial, a celebration of the season. Even with the almost torrential downpour, Nalin watched from the window as people still participated in the events. He knew that he should be resting, but watching the children play in the rain, even if they were scared of the thunder and lightning, it was cute.

Grabbing both his coat and his jacket, Nalin walked out into the downpour. He was going to get soaked most likely by the time he got anywhere, but that was okay. To be honest, he needed the fresh air. It had been a weird and slightly stressful Ashan so far. Lavender wasn't with him when he walked out though. She wanted to rest, she needed the rest and to be honest, he didn't blame her.

This Cylus and Ashan had been quite harsh ones for them. Nalin was really surprised with how much luck they had. Even with the bads, there were enough goods to even it all out. A lot of it was thanks to that healer from the first time he collapsed. Thinking back on it, he had been pretty stubborn. It was bad now that he thought back on it. He really should have been more careful. He pushed himself way too hard, he knew he had, but he kept pushing anyways. Now that he wasn't going to work, basically on a vacation to get better, it was a bit amazing to him just how much a break felt amazing.

Walking in the clouded over city, getting poured on, Nalin wandered kind of aimlessly, following the few thrown petals on the ground, wondering where they would lead him. Pleasantly unaware of the shadow of a man that was following him in the distance, keeping a watch on him. He was dressed more appropriately for the weather, with a hooded cloak that hid his form for the most part. It wasn't obvious that this man was following him either, even if someone noticed him, they might assume that he was just in the midst of participating in the celebration of Ashan's trial himself.

Some kids ran around Nalin, laughing at him for being dumb and not having a hood, splashing about in the water covered streets and then running off again as thunder boomed in the sky above. Nalin just found himself laughing and continued to walk until he saw a cloak that seemed familiar. He looked around, was there a medical building other than the school nearby. He frowned, there was no way that it could be the same person from that time. He frowned for a moment but he quickened his pace and reached out to tap on the person's shoulder. Hoping they wouldn't turn around and freak out, but turn around enough to let him see their features under their hood.

"Hey... you uhm.. Amaris? Healer?"

Volker was happy in the rain. It was nice to see Cylus ending, and Ashan's semi-warm rains coming down at last. Petrichor made him noseblind, and the thunder and lightning affected his hearing, but here he wasn't hunting. He was just enjoying the day. People were playing in the rain, listening to music or celebrating in the season. People were laughing and attempting to eat food huddled under covered areas. It wasn't a miserable day, just a peaceful one. Volker didn't have enough of those, and he didn't mind getting soaked at all. Even Oor was quiet; the Harvester liked the rain. It wasn't the oppressive silence of snow, it was welcome background noise.

Volker shook his head to get rain out of his eyes. Cylus had been difficult for him. Weathering the freezing cold huddled in a cart with only one blanket had been his definition of hell. Even his little apartment in Almund had been too difficult to heat up, and he'd only gone there in the worst of weather to take advantage of the thin bed. That was gone now. The days of sun and lazy naps in it were approaching and he couldn't wait. Given enough meat the man could sleep half a day if he wanted to.

He roamed the festival area, people-watching. He caught sight of a flash of white hair, and his attention immdiately drew to it. One good thing of the past few weeks was meeting Nalin. He hadn't been taken in by a pretty face in a very long time, but Nalin had treated him kindly and returned his tentative affections. Volker raised his nose slightly and tried to see if he could catch a familiar scent, but the rain masked everything. Even so, he trailed the man a little bit. It was the right height, the right build, and that hair was unmistakable. He made a small noise under his breath, similar to a constellion's chuff. A happy noise.

What stopped him from going up and greeting Nalin was the sight of another familiar figure. This one he didn't have to follow. Oor was happy to see her, and her towering height identified her immediately. Volker was a little retiscent to walk right up to the pair of them; earlier in Ashan he'd offered Amaris his friendship. It had not generally not gone well. She was disgusted by him, and afraid of him. It was fast becoming one of Volker's nightmares that Nalin would react the same, or that she'd share why she was so frightened. He hung back, but watched Nalin touch her on the shoulder. He hadn't really realized how tall and willowy Nalin was until he saw him next to the leggy giant.

'We've both got a thing for long legs.' Oor muttered. The heavy rain was enough to disguise a shadow, and Oor was happy enough to walk around as a vague 'did I see that' afterthought in the mind of most Scalvorians. Either way, the Harvester wasn't going to miss a chance to say hello to Amaris. Or at least try and catch a glimpse of her in wet clothing.

Rain Melts Down From The Stars

It was raining again. But that wasn’t surprising, considering that it was Ashan after all. She was not a fan of the rain. Not one bit. And to make matters worse, she’d left her cloak at home. Now at she had was a pair of two large palm fronds tied together to form the best improvised handmade shelter she could possibly have at this moment. Cold rainy trials had the tendency to make her miserable, and now out in the cold with the rain pouring about everywhere just raised her misery levels.

An exasperated sigh left her lips as she continued to run as she searched for any signs of shelter from this unforgiving rainpour. Despite her makeshift shelter, Nairi was still soaked in multiple areas from the rain. Her hair was soaked and the strands matted to her face. She both feared and hunted the sound of thunder and lightning from a very young age, and had never exactly grown out of that fear, and she doubt she ever will. As she ran into cover from streets to streets, she saw children playing away in the rain, while the less fortunate hid in what covered areas they could, sheltered themselves from the freezing cold as some of them ate what little morsel of food they had in an attempt to keep the hunger and cold away.

Nairi continued to run in the streets, trying to find any decent reason of a shelter than being in the streets, her head down to avoid her face from being any more drenched than she already was in her terribly improvised handmade shelter. Perhaps the palm fronds had not been such a good idea after all, but she didn’t exactly have plenty of options at her disposal. Her free-running was abruptly stopped as she collided head on with something tall, and soft. A person, most likely. A tall person.

With the meagre amount of shelter now on the drenched ground, the rain poured unobstructed soaking her to the skin. Looking up at the person she had collided with, Nairi saw a man. A pale man with long white hair. She simply stared at him. He looked ethereal. Her eyes turned orange in surprise. She'd never quite saw anyone like him. That silver hair coupled with that pale skin and feminine features. Wow.

Amaris, like all others, had come out to enjoy the rain. Perhaps the rest of the season would be rainy and dreary but this trail in particular was filled with a jubilance they had been determined to take part in. Hair left to drape over their shoulders, they let the rain seep into their cloak and clothes. They’d likely pay for that later on, most likely, wringing out said clothes and hanging them to dry over the fire.

Pushing back strands of hair, they looked about them at the revelry they stood in the midst of. The times they had celebrated this trial had been with family and ended with a firm scrubbing after a mud fight had ensued. A smile touched their lips as they navigated the crowd, taking in the sight of soaked people. It was better than the freezing cold and desolate streets of Cylus, but this would only give way to tremendous heat and almost perpetual lethargy. They wondered if this cycle would be met with something else, and for a moment their mood dipped. However, it did not last long as they pushed the thought of investigations and explosions from their minds. No one else was concerned of such things to-trial, and they would be the same.

It was when someone tapped their shoulder that they turned, pausing to look at who it might be. The pale face that stared up at them and the broken Common that followed was met with a timid recollection. “Oh, Nalin! You’ve made it to town.” Perhaps not the brightest observation, but considering the state they’d last seen the man in, it was quite something. Immediately, their brows furrowed. “How did you get here? Are you well? Have you met with Faith?”

There was more to ask, but they fell short in favor in a warning as someone bumped into Nalin, Amaris reaching out to steady him. The person that had collided with him didn’t move from their spot on the ground, choosing instead to gape at him. The furrow of their brows deepened as they crouched down. “Are you alright?”

Nalin stayed pleasantly unaware of Volker's presence or the other man that seemed to be keeping his distance but was watching him. Nalin just smiled at Amaris. Glad that he had gotten his guess correct. He moved to move his hair from back over his shoulder only to stop himself and clear his throat before looking down to the ground to make more fall forward before standing straight again. He opened his mouth and was about to answer her slew of questions but just then, a young looking girl ran right into him.

One look at her and the smile on his face grew. He knew that look. He looked to Amaris who seemed worried for the girl but he just shook his head with a small chuckle, bending a bit at the waist. Slowly taking her hand and helping her up with a strong pull and then holding her in close by her waist to make sure she didn't fall over before slowly letting go.

"Princess, ground isn't where you belong. Stand tall. Sorry for being in way. Bit of a rush?"

Softly, in a strangely brotherly way, he moved some of Nairi's matted and wet hair out of her face with a great big smile on his own. Another small laugh before he stepped back a bit and looked between the two before settling his eyes back on Nairi's.

"Nalin's the name. What is yours miss?"

Once she answered that he looked back to Amaris. He took a moment to try and remember the questions that she'd asked him. With a slow breath he smiled again with a bit of a laugh.

"Was long, rough journey, end of Cylus. With caravan. Helped them out, ignored my pain and needs, paid for it with another bout of passing out. Kind man helped get Lavender and I set up in hotel for a while. Found Faith on 10th."

Smiling softly he looked to the other girl who'd been starstruck. Pausing a moment before frowning. Putting a hand on her shoulder. What he'd thought he'd seen had been confirmed. The girl was shaking, maybe even flinching at the sounds of nature around them. Looking to the sky he sighed before smiling down at the girl.

"You okay? Need find somewhere indoors? Afraid? No need be. Understand, have sister, also scared of storms. Here, take jacket."

Smiling softly he shrugged his black leather jacket off and placed it not on her shoulders but her head. as if to try and block out everything of the storm. It was something that Lavender had seemed to like to do during a storm. Hide under something. Not that it really helped to hide the sounds, but at least it helped muffle it and block out most of the sight from it.
