As thrilled as he was to be on the opposite end of the blade, Patrick really felt the borrowed time he had nearly ran its course. This guy, whoever he was, clearly acted on belief that he was honorable and just, a ramification which already drove Pat insane given the fact he hated people like this man. Yet even when his demands remained simple, he flashed a very particular item of note. A key. Somehow surprised quickly molded into amusement, and Patrick’s baffled expression grew into a widened grin.

“I sent me.” He responded as he heard a faint whistle beyond the camp, the signal which Crowley was supposed to give Pat if things went wrong… A fast retreat then. “I’m the only one who’s after the chalice!” He fed into the man’s questioning while his eyes started to change hues, they went from their regular hazel to a vivid violet hue that almost glowed in a sense.

“Lies! Fool! Only slaves to the Immortals use such underhanded techniques and flee open conflict!” His face spoke as one full of loathing at Patrick now. Was it his eyes?

“Immortals? Please…” Right then Patrick tapped into the depths of his being, the traces of Ether that flowed throughout his body. In one sudden moment the air around him hummed and his skin flashed an eerily opaque blue. Just as this occurred Patrick’s physical appearance dissipated into space, while he Blinked right behind Gangui into a jump that would hopefully slam him down. If he could Patrick would attempt to pin the man to the ground, and swipe the key as well.

Blue skin and purple eyes made the warrior clench his sword in anticipation of some magical energy slamming into him. Biting down hard, he remained motionless as the dissolved energy moved through him. He was confused as to why the ether was leaving an imprint all around him.

Not even giving him a chance to take a breath, Patrick instantly fell on him, violently dragging him to the floor with a tremendous amount of energy.

The broad, steely shoulders of the mustachio thrashed about in attempt to break free, but before he knew it he was rolling in the dirt. The large brim on his helmet stopped his face from getting damaged; his armor only cushioning a bit of the blow. Still clutching his sword, he violently jerked his body in what should have been a bear crawl, but it was too awkward to be deemed any real technique. Totally surprised from the Blink, all he knew was that he needed to break free from the grasp of his opponent.

“Get off of me!”

Gangui heaved away with all his energy and broke free out of Patrick’s grip. Snapping up to his feet, the warrior immediately flipped and back pedaled to generate distance between his opponent. Still pointed the sword at Patrick, he felt his own heavy breathes and sweat forming into runnels under his armor.

Holding the hilt of his blade against his right hip, Gangui broadcasted a heavy power stab before charging Patrick again. This time he had a trick up his sleeve. On the third step of his bounding assault, Gangui spinned three-hundred and sixty degrees. While doing this he changed up the trajectory of his blade into upward cut, hoping his opponent would be fooled into a early grave.

Patrick’s attempt to surprise him had pulled off far more accordingly than he anticipated, as he came down in a tumble to pin Gangui beneath him. However the expected struggle to occur proved more problematic to Patrick, and thus when he proved too focused on grabbing the key; his opponent managed to break free and crawl into an escape.

Patrick himself fell over and quickly rebounded on to his feet, determined to create a short distance between them. “Crap…” He muttered in a defensive stance as the man primed his sword, already inbound with another attack that’d likely end with Patrick seriously injured… if he messed up on dodging this. His eyes narrowed as he watched the man step forward, his third step turned into a spiraling rotation with the blade.

”Here he comes!” Pat warned himself as he took a step back for a moment, he had to react fast if he wanted to avoid being skewered before the man. With another flash of coloration in his eyes he bent his knees and made a kick to jump away, however he had a foolish idea he intended to try out. As he propelled away from the swing of the blade, his body once more became embossed with the same temporary sheen.

His physical body dissipated into thin air while the imprint of his Flash Step moved above Gangui, and faded out as it trailed at the spot on the ground Patrick Blinked towards. He’d only managed to dodge the incoming attack, and created a bit of a gap between the two of them in the process. “Last chance!” He warned. “The key… please.” Patrick held a hand out hoping this man would give in.

But of course he didn’t. The armored brute simply growled himself into a crouch and readied his sword for another attack. At this rate Patrick sighed and determined it best to leave, but not before attempting one last stunt for the key. It was risky… too risky. He should’ve left by now but he wanted that key! Another glow within his eyes signaled the traces of Ether being touched, and Patrick focused on his target: the face of his opponent itself.

Patrick’s body dissipated once more and Blinked once more to the space above Gangui, the impression of his Flash Step just enough to give him a one Trill warning. Yet when Patrick’s Blink warped him, one thing he didn’t consider was the rush of the Blink entirely…

In short Patrick appeared above Gangui but flew over him with a “Whaaaa,” until he hit the ground hard. He wheezed and groaned after the impact, already turned over on his belly to push himself up from the fall he took.

The warrior’s eyes widened as he soaked in the information from his opponent into the codex that was his battle instincts. The Blink move was obviously Rupture due to the noise, but this guy had no control over it. A fact he concluded after seeing the man sail into the air, arms and feet waving about.

The man bounced down, tumbling like a children’s play toy.

Coude grae!

Bounding forward, the warrior would not let up on the pace of the battle. During times of peace and rest, he would often lose himself into a multitude of things, but never on the field. Right now his focus was single minded. It made him feel light and indeed wondrous. It was the spirit of man, the lightning renaissance of a hard worker.

The steely blade glittered in the moonlight as it moved with the flow of his chinking armor. The smell of the lily on his helm grazing the senses.

But a petty thief was a petty thief and would not allow him the pleasure of continuing the battle.

“Whoa whoa whoa!” He called out with hands raised, as though he yet again intended surrender. “Come on pal! Pretty sure it doesn’t have to end this way!” He too looked to be drenched in a sweat, already his eyes in another glow as he kept his hands in a gesture of surrender.

The warrior recognized the universal sign of surrender in the man’s hand gestures and the steel in his nerves began to seize control of his actions. Turning off the motor of his momentum, Gangui trampled to a stop, stomping on the insteps to slow down his huge mass from moving right through the rupture mage.

The glowing violet eyes of his opponent suddenly locked in with Gangui’s icy blues. Their was a brief tense pause. “... Who are you?”

Stiffened with his eyes still on the blade, the man glanced up to Gangui and then forced a weak smile. “Just some asshole.” With that response his entire physique glowed and disappeared, the ethereal imprint left behind fading after his disappearance.

Screaming the aukari blood in his heart pushed away all the discipline of steel he had mustering. Raising the sword into the air, he slammed down on the pile of leaves that the asshole had been standing on.

As the leaves fell back down into their place, Gangui mentally cursed the man who had assaulted him and damaged their property.

Returning to the scene Gangui was already yelling at the men who were still dealing with the flames.

“We were attacked by an Enemy of the Free Market!”

“I want more men on watch!”

“I want this asshole mage found!”

“No half measures!”

As he ordered these things a few of his men brought in the last of the unconscious, a nose bloodied individual only Gangui would recognize. Tresah. It appeared as though he were bashed in the face with a blunt object, while he mumbled words about getting the chalice back to Raimeus.

“You tell Raimeus that he come her for parley immediately! We need a plan!”

The warrior touched the key that was slung around his neck. As the chaos simmered, he sheathed his sword and looked at the distant forest. Raimus was fucking with him business wise. He had screwed up with the negotiations. When magic was involved the price doubled.

Tresah had yet to move. The warrior flipped around and said calmly, “Tresah, I wanna talk to him now.”

The bloodied man nodded and held his nose as he walked away.

Short breathed and exhausted Patrick watched from above the encampment, his eyes turned from it to the place where Crowley had been. A figure walked through the undergrowth with cigar in hand, and a lockbox on his other shoulder as he approached Patrick. “Took you long enough kid!”

“Yeah I know, had a last Bit improvement on the plan.”

“Yeah I can tell.” Crowley remarked as he pointed the cigar to his shirt. “Close call huh?”

“Too close. Least we got the chalice though.” Patrick reasoned with a slight smirk on his face. “Tresah give you trouble?”

“Nah, Tresah’s a wimp. Wasn’t easy to spot him though, almost didn’t make it in time.” Crowley admitted with a few soft chuckles. “Thanks for the crossbow by the way, really did the job back there.”

“Well it’s thanks to you for being a good shot, I’d imagine torching a tent or two isn’t easy with that thing.” He remarked with a glance back down to the camp below. “We should leave though… They’ll be scouring the place for us soon.”

“Good call. You lead the way kid.” Crowley implied as he held the lockbox for Patrick to take, the drunkard would gladly place as much distance between him and this place as possible. In the end the plan proved to be a dismal success for the two, just as Patrick had planned with their little skirmish...

Tresah had managed to make a run for it with the chalice, once enough tents were set ablaze and the guard searched for them. Patrick had to give credit for the fact Crowley had been an outstanding contribution, as pitching the tent fires proved harder than Patrick imagined. After that and the chaos ensued however, it was all left up to Crowley to pinpoint Tresah and set up an ambush for him. Once the scholar made a run for it with the chalice, then the two were lucky once Crowley managed to swipe it from him. Which was why he whistled evidently, signaling Patrick that the plan either went well or completely in ruin.

Patrick of course had been caught up in the unexpected dilemma of the key, which Gangui still seemed in possession of at this very moment. But that hardly mattered, lockboxes could easily be opened in other ways or so he figured. What was important was that they got out with chalice in hand, and that meant Patrick had outsmarted Raimeus on this particular day.
