Arlo signed at her not to provoke the men and Vega's hands couldn't move fast enough to explain her outrage. But when the leader spoke to her about him, Vega turned on the man and her eyes flooded with a deep crimson. "Yer not helpin' you know. If he has one of 'is episodes an' someone gets hurt, its yer own fault. Don't push him about, he's more placid that way." She looked at Arlo and shook her head slightly, trying to get an air of despairing to her mien, but she couldn't really pull it off. However, it meant that they left them alone as long as they went down into these winding tombs.
The men in question weren't too bright, Vega thought. What if they found another way out or something? As they made their way, she frowned. But then, they'd come back for their weapons, she figured. Or maybe they wouldn't, she wasn't sure but either way, it didn't make sense to her that they just let them go. There was something odd, something they weren't telling. Of course, when she said to Arlo that they could be side by side, but she didn't want him jumping in front of her, he bit back and Vega rolled her eyes at him. "Yer ego would survive a zombie apocalypse an' claim to have handled it all by itself," she replied straight back and her gaze on him showed her amusement. "Robust don't even begin to cover it. It's like bein' in a relationship with two people. You an' yer ego." She grinned at him as she spoke, "an I love you both, but if either of you got hurt cos of tryin' to protect me, I'd never forgive myself."
With her Nalos mark ability lighting the way, Vega frowned slightly and slipped her hand into Arlo's. "It's a bit spooky, Arlo. I don't like it, gives me the wiggins." She frowned deeply as he moved over and rummaged in an ages-old corpse. "I don't know that you should do that. What if this is where the Immortals bury important people to 'em, or their mortal-born children or somethin'? Lootin' corpses don't seem right to me." But the corpses in question, all four of them in this corridor, had been here a very long time. Each of them had been buried with weapons, jewellery and other such trinkets. Vega didn't touch them, but she also didn't argue with him if he did.
At the end of the corridor there was a t-junction. Lyova and Iris could scout ahead and it soon became obvious that this place was a number of connected rooms. The corridor went left or right - at each corner there was a room and that room had more corpses and another exit - after four rooms, they'd end up back here having walked around in a square. However, as they walked to the first room, Vega stopped dead in her tracks. "Arlo," she said, her voice far, far too calm, "where I stood, where I'm standin' right now? The floor sunk down a bit an' I felt a sort of clickin' sound. I think I'm standin' on a pressure plate of some kind or somethin'."
Looking at him with serious eyes, Vega sighed slightly. "I don't suppose I'm gonna persuade you to leave while I step off, am I?" She knew she wasn't going to and that he was going to check. Of course, she knew that if the roles were reversed, she'd do exactly the same, but still. "There's no point both of us.. gerroff, I'm fine. Stop fussin'." She didn't even manage to sound like she meant it, in fairness and she smiled at him nervously, but equally with that glint in her eyes which told him that the adrenaline was running and, in her own way, she was as addicted to it as he was.
