Bio: Sylvia is a woman with a well developed ambition and desire for discovery. In her youth her ambition lead her to join a group that aspired to be a "Traveling City" and she quickly gained the attention of the mage traveling with them, Azzam. The Hone mage agreed to pass his gift to Sylvia in return for her unquestioning service and she agreed because she knew it was the only way he'd share his spark. Azzam initiated Sylvia and spent several arcs teaching her how to use her magic before a new mage joined the group, a transmuter named Perseus. Perseus and Azzam did not get along at all. Each man wanted to control the traveling city and Perseus was the first one to really threaten Azzam's ability to lead. By the time Perseus came around Sylvia's ambition had begun to make her unhappy with her role. She didn't want to be treated like a servant any longer and Perseus stoked the flames of that discord. Perseus offered to initiate Sylvia in his magic, transmutation, if she turned on her mentor and helped get him banished. Sylvia, hungry for power, agreed and she has never slept comfortably since. Azzam was thrown out and Perseus initiated her. He became her mentor and she served him until Mathias Blackwood arrived to their traveling family.
Relationship: Mathias offered her the ability to get out under the thumb of her mentor. Through Mathias, she could advance her own magic without regard to what her mentor thought she was ready for. Mathias was already a Hone mage and if she could make him a transmuter then he would understand what she felt perfectly. That was what she told herself to justify initiating him and risking his life. Not long after that her mistake came full circle. Her mentor tried to advance behind her back and was turned into a Felwright by Mathias. It forced the two of them on the run and eventually the run forced them apart. They still seek to meet up every now and then when they can.
