"I..." Rorom was beginning to panic, as he heard the young dentist, surgeon, professor... whatever he was, try and sell his witchery as the greatest thing ever.
He felt a atavistic panic rise up within him, as it became clear what the other man intended to do. Then, a shining moment of opportunity presented itself. He gave him a reprieve, and wouldn't initiate him straight away. Rorom would be left to make some foul piece of grisly jewelry, with the remains of his tooth, hair, and some blood? At any rate, he wasn't having it.
"I didn't ask for this! I don't want this foul witchery!" Rorom said, nearly tipping over his chair as he rose from where he was. He bowled over all manner of expensive furniture on the way out the door.
A moment more, and he'd be free of this strange young lad, trying to foist some terrible sorcery on him. "I will find someone who can take this curse from me, or die trying!" He hollered in Rakahi, as he fled from the professor's room. Eventually he did find his way to the door, and swung it open then shut behind him, so the young witch wouldn't be able to follow him.
From there, Rorom ran from the scene, making his way out of that damned university and back toward his ship. He'd sail the seas and find a place or person where he could be rid of this terrible blight upon his soul. He would not end up like that young professor, obsessed and excited by the very idea of damning his own soul! He wouldn't!

Notes: This thread had me interested from the start because I'd never thought someone would be initiated into Defiance without knowing it! I was immediately intrigued to see if Rorom would figure out what happened and when the ever delightful Devin appeared I was actually worried for Rorom! Devin's not the best role model. Devin's "scientific" interest in Rorom's affliction was amusing. I also thought it was funny that they both doubted each other (Devin being surprised by a mage not knowing they were a mage and Rorom being surprised by an immortal marked not knowing they'd been marked). The Lady of Limbs sounds intriguing and Rorom's story made me want to hunt down and read his initiation. It was really interesting to read Devin trying to give a Defiance mage a lesson on Defiance and his fascination with the Lady of the Limbs amused me. I thought it was fascinating how willing Devin was to initiate the stranger but that has always been Devin and it was one of my favorite parts of this thread. Enjoy your rewards!
