Rakvald’s relationship with Ildred amused me, as always. She probably meant to send him to the pigsty in order to punish him, but it doesn’t sound as if he minded it too much!
I found this thread quite entertaining, especially since Hankley was so fascinated by Flappy. Rakvald and Hankley seemed to get along rather well. I loved how excited Rakvald got when Hankley revealed that she was a Becomer and immediately offered her a piece of Flappy. Graft is definitely a useful magic when it comes to creating totems!
I was a bit sad that Hankey refused the Graft initiation though. I hope that Rakvald eventually finds an initiate. At least she agreed to his second offer. It’s a shame that this seems to have ended prematurely. I would have liked to know how Hankley’s “apprenticeship” went!

Comments: I really enjoyed the description of Hankley’s relationship with her totem of Brach and her spark. You made it obvious that Brach meant a lot to her. I like how you wrote that he is still alive within her. And what more, it sounds as if Desnind is quite an adjustment for her.
