Re: Turning over a new leaf (Praetorum)

“Well, it’s one hell of a goal though. But still, something to aim for.” Nathan chuckled.

“I’d be looking forward to that. So the Rosemerta’s up the river later? Their Starlight wine is a must, plus the hot bath. We never got enough of it.” Nathan grinned as he continues striking at Prae.

“Bloody f-“ Nathan hasn’t finished his sentence when Prae closes the distance in an instant and using his staff to swipe him off his feet. Nathan fell flat on the ground.

Nathan lay on the ground for a few trills. He uses the downtime to sneak in some quick resting time to catch his breath. Damn it, it’s a one-sided battle aye. We almost got him the first time, but well I guess he isn’t fighting at his full strength yet. He could fight all of us and we’d still be the ones to tire out first. Vincent and Dimitri are still energetic, Anton and Leon could be nearing their limit. Need to conserve it. No use in making it a battle of attrition too, he could end it before it comes to that. But no harm in trying right. Nathan thought to himself.

Could swipe at his legs right? That’d count as a solid hit. The thought crossed Nathan’s mind. But Nathan quickly dismissed it. He lay on the ground calculating his options. He looked at Dimitri or Vincent hoping to get their attention. As soon as he locks eyes with Dimitri, Nathan signaled with his hands to push Prae closer to him. He turned at Anton and Leon, they are still striking at Prae from his left and right. As soon as he caught their eyes he would give the same signal too. He reached for his spear but still flat on his back. He planned for Dimitri and Vincent to push Prae toward him while Anton and Leon tried their best to keep him in a straight line. Nathan slowly moved his spear until he was holding the dull end of the spear. He waited for the opportunity to swipe at Prae’s feet.

“Yeah, guess that meal would have to wait. “Yeah, guess that meal would have to wait. So it’s a battle of attrition then if against someone bigger and stronger? Anyway, earlier you said about magic right? Gotta show us after this is over. Haven't met anyone who could do those sort of stuff.” Nathan said trying to distract Prae again as he gripped the spear and prepare to swipe at Prae’s feet the moment he got close.

This is quite pitiful resorting to these acts. But well, the battle of attrition it is. If we manage to land a blow, we would regain morale. Perhaps we could do the first tactic again. I’m sure that he won’t fall for it twice, but that’s what I’m counting on. Darn it, should have taken the shields too instead of spears and swords only. Nathan thought to himself as he slightly lifts his head to see Prae’s current location.

Re: Turning over a new leaf (Praetorum)

“The Rosemerta’s it is, then,” Prae smiled back. He quite liked Nathan—the man was affable, good humored about his failures, and worked well enough with his men. He could do with some training, but which of Prae’s mercs couldn’t? At the very least, Prae felt confident in letting him continue to lead his squad.

With his back turned to Nathan, Prae didn’t see the signal he gave. But he did notice the four combatants start trying to push him backwards. Intrigued, Prae chose not to break out instead standing his ground where he could, and retreating a little where he couldn’t’. He was more interested in watching their teamwork than wining, and chose to meet this attack head on rather than do something unexpected.

The four of them worked well enough together. It was clear this was a group that had fought together before, and they didn’t get in each others’ way, but neither was their collective attack particularly synergistic. They attacked individually and independently, only sometimes taking advantage of openings the others made. It was understandable, that sort of synergy was difficult to achieve, especially with a larger group, but still. It was good to know what they could and couldn’t do.

Distracted with his analysis of the group, Prae didn’t notice how close he was getting to Nathan. He did note that he hadn’t detected any movement from behind him, though. “Everything alright back there?” He called, somewhat teasingly. “You’re welcome to pop back into the fight at any moment.”

Injuries/Overstepping: none
Wealth Points: Praetorum: Feel free to submit this thread for a transaction thread to the Wealth Claims thread. It is a business thread, afterall, involving Prae's Mercenary company.

Skill Review: All Skills used appropriately to PC's level
Notes: Well well, Prae sparring with folk. Who'da thunk it? But I suppose that's how you stay ahead of the curve with your fitness to battle. Still, it was a good action piece, and though Praetorum had the group of their toes for much of the thread, I felt like Nathan and company made some good strides in the middle and toward the end of the fight. It was all fairly well described and I had little trouble when it came to visualizing what was going on.

You both make good use of your npcs, and bring a lot of personality to each one, to the point where it's easy to distinguish which is speaking at any point. Anyway, good writing!

P.S. Nathan if you should return, please submit this to the queue for your own rewards. Thank you!

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding this review, feel free to PM. Enjoy your rewards!
