Re: On the farm...

The gate was moving (slowly) across the icy cold ground. His only goal for the time being was to get it off the path, so that poor old Patsy could get through without any hassle. The gate was troublesome enough hanging wrong, but laying wrong was not an improvement.

Patsy was now running a little late and surely would be back soon and she’d not find the path blocked when she got here, not if Winston could help it.

He looked at the gate thoughtfully.

Then he looked at the fence.

He took the loose end of the rope, climbed over the fence to one side of the path and using his weight plus whatever strength he could put into it, he pulled down with all his might. “Uuuuuuuhhhhhggg!”

The gate moved across the path about a foot and then stopped.

He was about to adjust his grip to take up the slack and move it again when he noticed Tiggy appear at the gaping hole where the gate once hung and he smiled. “Ya wuddna be here ta help me out agen wud ya?” He let the rope go slack for a moment as he spoke. “Eff yu cud help me wid dis geat, I’d be very grateful.” he added, hopefully.

Winston would persevere regardless, of course, but the sooner he got this gate off the path, the sooner he could get to making something nice to eat for dinner, for himself and his new acquaintance, in an attempt to win them over. Gift giving was about the best thing ever and cooking was his first most favorite thing to do.

Appearance

When standing at his full height, Winston towers a full 1 foot and one blueberry tall. A fact he will happily demonstrate before flicking said blue orb into the air with his nose and then eating it with a snappy grin.

His eyes are dark and sharp, ringed by dark brown fur upon the bright white fur that sets off across the rest of his face.

Equipement

Re: On the farm...

Tiggy could not help but think this small ferret was fighting a losing battle. It was such a large heavy gate, even for Tiggy, and Winston was less than half the size. I mean, progress was being made, it's true, but the progress was minimal and it seemed to be taking an awful lot of effort to seemingly not achieve very much. But, Tiggy supposed, being so small, Winston was used to such adversity, he must encounter such size related challenges every day. This world certainly seemed to be made for much larger creatures than them.

Unpacking their worldly possessions from Rando and the cart could wait until later, this gate needed moving before granny got back, and Tiggy was going to help make it so.

"Tell me what I can do to help, let's get this gate out the way."

Tiggy lifted one end and pushed, while Winston used the rope contraption and pulled. Slowly but surely, and with a nerve wrenching grind, the gate eventually began moving off the path, scraping and sliding on the ice. Winston and Tiggy worked together, heaving and hoing and somehow managed to get the obstruction out the way. Phew.

Tiggy was famished and exhausted after the long journey to Scalvoris, not to mention the events since, and decided it was time to make a retreat back to the cottage to eat, unpack and rest for the evening. Everything needed to be sorted before granny was finally home as there was much to catch up on and sort out.

Notes: This has to be one of the most adorable threads I've read. I love Tiggy and Winston already.

Now, there's one wrinkle that needs ironing out, and that's the fact that Cadouri have only been on Idalos for a couple years. So while it's possible that Granny's Cottage in Sweetwine looks exactly like her cottage would in Saoire's Dream (Where Cadouri came from) it's not the same place. I just wanted to make sure that's clear.

Otherwise, this was a very nice meet and greet, with some excitement in there as Tiggy saved Winston from getting crushed by the gate.

Tiggy's thoughts about Winston, and how his size must cause all sorts of challenges was a fun part to read. However, don't trust the ferret too easily! Those creatures are wiley.

Winston is a beam of sunlight. I loved it when he struck his 'hero pose'. And he seems to know his way around tools and smithing/engineering as well! He's a very problem-solving oriented ferret, it seems to me.

Great writing, anyway. Enjoy the rewards which I've posted to your UCP!
