Night nodded a smile slipping across her lips. "Alright then. Lets," she purred spreading her wings. With the strength of the wind it was a lot easier to get a take off, Night could feel the way the wind curled around her body and pushed under her wings. It was a comforting sensation and the closest thing she'd ever felt to home since, well, forever. Night kept easy pace with Valyeria angling her wings to fly up next to her.
She could feel her heart drop when the wind stopped. Night was a lot better practiced so tossing a quick look over her shoulder was no problem. She paused in the air a couple moments while she looked before taking off after Valyeria. There had been a lot more grace in the way Night checked. "Fly as fast as you can," she hissed taking the lead. She didn't fly at full speed. It was completely possible she would lose Valyeria if she did such a thing. But she most certainly wasn't going at a very slow pace either. Every once in a while she would fall back slightly to check on Valeria before going ahead again.
There was a certain pattern to her movements. Fall back to Valyeria's pace, speed up two beats to go her own, slow down to beats to Valyeria, speed up two beats to her own. Night wished she could pull Valyeria along but if she tried to speed up Valyeria's pace faster than what the woman was used to then it would just cause problems for both of them and they would most certainly crash. The noise was deafening when it hit and Night's senses took a hit. Night flung out her wings to their full size using to gust of wind to push herself forward even farther than Valyeria at an alarming speed. Of course she made sure she was always in sight of Valyeria and Valyeria was ease for Night to get to in case anything went wrong.
It had been years since the last time Night flew during a storm. She had the chance to get lots of practice ever since and there was an obvious difference between the two bodies that arced through the skies. When the rain hit Night just kept going. She tilted her wings upward slightly to balance out the strength of the heavy rain. Her balancing act kept her from losing the same amount of altitude as Valyeria. She however still swooped close in order to always be a couple wing beats away. If worse can to worse she wouldn't be able to keep them both in the sky, but she could at least keep them both from crashing dangerous.
While Valyeria struggled trying to fight against the winds Night worked with them. Each trill she made an adjustment. Sometimes they were small things like the twitch of her wings and feathers or even a body part, sometimes they were large like readjusting the angle of her wings and body in order to best take advantage of the winds. The wind in exchange worked with her. Her body dipped about but each small change seemed planned for in a way, never did she lose control and never were her movements violent. The air currents bowed to her will as much as her body moved at the will of the winds. Never was she far away from Valyeria.
Finally they reached safety. "Well, that was certainly interesting. I think you got a taste of the easiest and some of the hardest things to do in the air. I'm just gonna go ahead and stay here until the storm stops," Night said sliding to the ground with the same kind of plop a soaked bird might make if you dropped it on the ground. "Good job," she said with a weak smile and laugh, "I can show you some tricks next time we go out."
