[Treth] Don't Be Gone

He couldn't lie but her behaviour has awaken the protective side in him as it so often would. Even in the Southern temple, in the Tunawa refuge where he might have heard of a few new members or caught a glimpse of one, he always felt like sheltering them all from harm, erasing the pain and the bad to replace it with the good. Now, stood here in front of Tei'serin, the same instinct spread through his body. He took no action, though. Seeing in her body language, the look in her eyes, he had to stay still alas he might frighten her unintentionally. There was still a decision to be had. Considering she took a few bits, it might have been her first time deciding freely to do something. Daunting as they were, Finn felt the warmth of relief rising when she delivered the conclusion.
"Thank you Tei'serin. I promise I won't be any trouble." The priest said with a slight nod of the head, at last moving away from her just a small fraction.
"I'll make my bed on the floor. It's absolutely fine. I would not want to cause any more troubles than I already have." Having settled the assumptions that the Sev'ryn girl might have known something about Telar but chose to toy with, Finn felt a little more at ease himself. He had more capacity to think of other things. Like, who was this man that subjected Tei to that kind of abuse? How long has it been going on? Why was he doing it? Could she be helped? Saved? Absent in mind, Finn gave Tei a surprisingly present, somewhat charming smile of gratitude.
"So have you been living on your for a long time?" A strong and fast assumption based on the fact that Finn saw no sign of another resident around. Mainly it was due to the fact that when Tei invited him in initially there was no consideration for anyone else. Moreover, if she truly were to fulfil all his wishes, and Finn could well imagine what her usual guest's wishes might be, logically there probably was not another person living in the same house.

[Treth] Don't Be Gone

Tei'serin was in completely unknown territory here. She honestly had no idea what to expect of this man. Although she had decided to trust Finn, she wasn't entirely certain what that meant, or how to proceed from there. She had told him that he could stay...but where? She only had the one bedroom. The polite thing would be to give it to him for as long as he stayed her, of course. She could stay in the stable. Or maybe the kitchen. But before she could suggest that, he said he'd make his bed on the floor.

It was a nice offer for him to make. She really didn't like the idea of him in her bed...with or without her in there with him. But could she really trust the offer? Did she dare? What if he got mad if she accepted his offer instead of insisting that he take the bed? Still...she had decided to trust him. So she would trust his offer, too. Tei'serin smiled weakly, and nodded.

"Thank you. You're not any trouble. It's not...it's not your fault what I thought. It's just that...we don't get a lot of strangers out here. When we do, and they come out this way...they're usually looking for me. For...for what I thought you were here for." she said softly.

When Finn asked her if she'd been living alone for a long time, she simply nodded.

"I was five when my family sailed here. The ship sank, and my father and I were the only survivors. Thorin helped us. He seemed nice back then, and he saved my father's life when the ship sank. But...he never really recovered. The sea was everything to him, and when he lost his family, and his family ship...it did something to him. When he died a season after the ship sank, he asked Thorin to look after me. Thorin promised he would. But after my father died...he changed. He brought me out here. Until I was nine, he lived here with me all the time, but he has a business to run. After I turned nine, he told me I was old enough to live here without him. He came back a lot when I was younger. But there were times when he'd be gone for an entire season, too. And the older I got, the more he would go away for longer periods of time. Now he comes to visit whenever he wants to, and stays as long as he wants...but I never know when he will come, or how long he will stay if he does."

Tei'serin shuddered. She preferred that Thorin stay away. If he never came back, she would be happy, but she knew that that would never happen. He would never give up his control over her.

"He has a son that lived in Treth. Sorin. He's one of my students. Thorin sent him to live with a family in the village to spy on me when I'm there. He gives me messages from his father too, sometimes. But he's a good kid. Sorin helps me with the planting, and the harvesting each arc. I think he has to do what his father tells him, just like I do. And if I ever did run away...which I could never do, because Thorin would find me if I did...Sorin would probably be punished for not stopping me."

Tei'serin wondered how her situation must look to someone like Finn. She lived alone out here most of the time. There was nothing at all stopping her from just leaving. Except...she had already tried that. Once. The punishment she had suffered for daring to think she could escape her guardian taught her to never try again. No matter where she tried to run, Thorin would find her, and make her wish she had never run away. There was Sorin to consider, too. He was just a kid, but Tei'serin knew that that wouldn't stop Thorin for punishing him too if he thought his son hadn't tried hard enough to prevent her from escaping. So she was well and truly trapped whether Thorin was here, or not.

"May I ask why you came here?" she asked nervously, wondering if he would be angry at her for asking such a question.

"You seem to be looking for something. That's why I thought Thorin had sent you. Most men who come out here looking for something were sent by him." she said with a shudder.

"But maybe...maybe if I knew what you were looking for, I could help...?" she offered hesitantly.

[Treth] Don't Be Gone

There was no answer to Tei'serin's hesitant questions, and she was reluctant to ask again. It wasn't really any of her business, anyway. For that matter, she didn't know how much help she could have been even if Finn had wanted her help to find whatever it was he was looking for. If it was a lost animal, or item, and he had lost it in Willow Woods, it was unlikely he would find it again. At least not without the aid of an experienced tracker...which she most certainly was not. And if it were a person that he was looking for...well. She would be of even less help there. Had whoever Finn might be looking for reached Treth, everyone would know of it by now. Strangers coming to the village was a rare enough occasion that people were going to talk about it. Especially in Zi'da. Tei'serin would have heard about it from her students, or their parents by now. And if Finn was looking for a person who was lost out in the Willow Woods...well, he would need an experienced tracker to help him. Not her.

Tei'serin prepared a light meal for both herself, and her guest. Then she cleaned up the dishes, and put them away, trying to give herself some space so she could at least begin to get used to the idea of a man staying in her cottage who did not want to rape her; it was a strange concept to her, and one it would take time for her to truly believe. Once that was done, she showed him to where there was room for him to sleep on the floor. After she was sure he was settled, she retreated into her own room to think, and try to settle her nerves.

Such a shame it ended so abruptly - it was turning into a really nice story! I very much enjoyed what there was and Tei, you did a good job of wrapping it up. No issues, an interesting read and a nice window into the lives of the two pcs. Please do pm me if you've got any questions.
