One such beggar from my hometown had a dog which he used to attract attention. It was later discovered that he was making ~$50k/year in solicited funds. I might add that this was in one of the poorest counties in the state.
Hi Mal,

Firstly thanks for your comment - although I'd kind of like to keep the Q & A thread for Qs and As, really. :) You do raise a point, and I understand it. However, Scalvoris is a fantasy town in a fantasy world and my response was not actually based on reality.

So, Mero, the answer to your question stands ~ if you're wanting to be a beggar who is able to maintain a lifestyle, then you'll need to take up the profession of maybe acting and apply it to street performances, acting in such a way as to provoke sympathy etc.

To be absolutely clear - having a dog will not be enough. Not in Almund, where the pirates live and the slaves cost 250gn to start with, where there are empaths and Immortals-blessed individuals knocking around. If you want to discuss that, look at the sort of alternative ways of doing it I'm suggesting, Mero, I'm happy to discuss either in PM or the OOC.

Looking forward to the next question!

Where would be the best place(s) to go in the areas surrounding scalvoris town to get some experience fighting bad guys (like bandits) and nefarious creatures?

In the future I want Goku to eventually have a reputation of saving people / becoming a mercenary to deal with problems as a stepping stone to getting recruited into something like the elements or starting his own mercenary business.

Um, I mean. Hm. That's a tricky one, actually. There isn't so much one place - and there's certainly not somewhere that has nefarious folks together. I mean - you can join the elements, or a merc company anyhow. Maybe the thing to do is to create a few antagonists in the antagonist NPCs - and have those be a bandit crowd Goku defeats? Also - check the calendar for relevant things you can pick up. I think, honestly, rather than "a" place, it's just a number of stories.

Sorry - I don't know how helpful that is!

ty that did help

I had another question, this time about the calendar. I did not understand the point of claiming events in the calendar. If I wanted to write about the hail storm on the 9th of cylus would I have to claim it? And what if someone else already claimed it, am I not allowed to write about it?

Hi hi

1. Unless it says specifically that only a few people can claim it, no, it's open to as many people as want to post to it.
2. The purpose of claiming it is so that - when next season's calendar comes along and I archive THIS seasons
a) players can refer back
b) I know what's been picked up and what hasn't - some things will have "follow up" stories - and what the follow up is depends on what (if anything) is done.

Make sense?
