The one she was dealing with, pulled a knife and flicked his hand forward towards her but he was too slow. Having sliced his bow in half, there was nothing in between Vega and him and so she took a final step forward and pushed her sword into a lunge against his throat. He was slower than her, still shocked at having had his bow sliced so effectively, and her sword pierced and he dropped. He was dead before he hit the ground and, as Arlo turned to check on her, she did the same to him, spinning to make sure that he was not injured. When she saw that he wasn't, Vega's expression turned to a grin of relief. "You injured anywhere?" Looking him up and down she didn't think he was and she felt relief flood through her that they hadn't been hurt either one of them.
"You know, don't you, that this was your fault?" She didn't mean it, of course, but she said it anyway. "You didn't believe stinky-cheese about the tribes an' so, there they are. Cannibal half naked men who are ruled by their women. Other than the cannibal bit it sounds alright, actually." She let out a long, slow breath and knelt to clean her sword. "They're in loincloths, Arlo. I'm not searchin' them. But mine 'ad a knife too. I'll get his arrows, but I broke 'is bow." She motioned to Arlo's opponent and waved her hand vaguely around her back. "The knife was round the back end. If you wanna look." Vega was sure. She was NOT doing so. Not this trial or any other.
Still, she cleaned her sword, collected up the arrows and waited until he'd done what ever it was he was going to do with his attacker and then she spoke, standing up as she did. "Alright, so two things. Maybe three, I dunno. I'll keep one in my pocket for if I want to use it. But first, you saved my life. Thanks." Her grin was a little awkward, but her words were sincere. "I mean. I know. But, thanks." She knew, she'd do the same for him and he'd always do that for her. She stowed the knife from her attacker in her belt and glanced at the man laying dead on the ground.
"That was well cool with the spear, by the way. I'm impressed. You do a good 'obbling injured person too. Multi talented, that's what you are." Looking at the bodies, though, Vega sighed slightly. "A'right, so 'ere's the thing. The second thing. What're we gonna do about these bodies? They're gonna attract animals an' stuff. I mean, I dun't know what they do for burial rites round thisaway. Maybe we should dance and shout wooga wooga or somethin," That probably wasn't what they should do, she did understand that. "or maybe we should just leave 'em here an' move. It's like. Well, it's the jungle, an' things die, don't they. But I'd rather not be here when the things wot are gonna eat them, do." Looking down at them, she frowned. "Especially if it turns out they're related. Bloody ell, I though my family were gross."
It was relief, she knew, which was making her talk. It always did at this point and he was undoubtedly used to it. As she calmed down, though, her tone turned more to its usual, less frantic and calmer. "So, I vote we keep goin'. Whatcha think?" It would be worth their while, she thought, going in the opposite direction to the way the cannibal men had come from and as far as they could before nightfall. She pointed to the spear though and added, with a grin, "best take yer wooga wooga spear with you. My hero."
