(Foster's Landing)

With the escalation of hostilities between Etzos and Rhakros, a series of small walled towns is being established as a network of early warnings and defenses against Rhakros' reprisals. Only the very bravest and most formidable of characters should risk themselves on the Witches' Wilds frontier.

ImageThe quiet atmosphere was broken by the heavy-metal foot falls of two gigantic figures ascending the staircase. They were adorned with heavy armor, furs, and terrifying helms decorated for intimidation. Their weapons gilded sticks of iron, much too large even for the likes of one such as Gangui. An aura of darkness followed them like an oozing disease.

“Caoindelbhan the Defiler of Nations,” The Historian said sitting up, announcing and greeting them at the same time, “Fergashidm the Bridge Builder,”

Gangui stood up as well and nodded his greeting. He was equal in stature to them, though much less formidable and terrifying in appearance.

A rough, deep voice uttered behind broken yellow teeth, “We’ve been gone a long time,” the chinking metal of Caoindelbhan approached the corner where they all sat, “Who are these new people,”

“Gangui the Etzori Patriot,” Domeniko introduced them, “Zippomaria the Purveyor of Justice,”

The guttural and chevalier guffaws that the two giant men annoyed Gangui to the core. Who were they to laugh at him?

Domeniko seemed as ease even among the deadly warriors, “Defiler, what news do you bring to the books?”

Caoindelbhan beady black eyes looked at Zipper with a grin, “Not any news that the Purveyor of Justice would want to hear,”

Fergashidm stepped up as well, now two men towering over the women four times smaller than them, “We would have to take up grievance with her position?”

Gangui stepped in the middle of them with a raised gauntlet, “I am in signed contract with her,”

The two men took a step back and looked at each other, dropping their verbal assault on Zipper. They had accepted the fact they’d have to use their intimidation on Gangui himself and not on his client directly. Such was the etiquette of politics at the Inverted Noose. Gangui would take the brunt of the words.

Domeniko spoke, trying to dissolve the situation slightly, “Men, it is the Purveyor’s first day, let her learn first before any proffered pronouncements are made,”

The Bridge Builder rumbled at Zipper, but through Gangui as contract dictated. He spoke as if talking to a little girl, gesturing condescendingly, “You two are the good team and we are the bad. There I explained it. Can we continue our parley?” He looked at the other warrior, then the historian who couldn’t say anything, “Caoindelbhan, tell Zippomaria what we did,”

The Defiler of Nations stared Gangui in the eyes, the warrior steeled his nerves and stood his ground, but couldn’t help feel the sinking despair of dread enveloping his body. He blinked several times before allowing the man to bare down his presence on him, “We rounded up the hill people…. We sacked Darrington... and split the loot with Rhakros...”

She was starting to miss the goldmine.

It was starting to become a bit of a trend: get guided to a locale, hate the locale, get guided to an even more abominable locale. The Treasure Trove gave way to the absurd decadence of the Goldmine, the Goldmine gave way to this… secret society of criminally violent blockheads, steeped in the juvenility of theatrical code words, as if they were children playing at Godslayers. She understood the game played here - it had to be a game, because the idea that they believed in every word they said was just incomprehensible to her.

She was still leaning towards this being an elaborate prank orchestrated by Gangui and his fellows.

But if this was, by some twisted miracle, real...

If Gangui did know how weird this was going to be for her, he was in need of better communication practices. If Gangui didn’t know, then she was absolutely aghast that this was his idea of normal.

“Congratulations,” she said. Normally, she would have been aghast at any mention of Rhakros. Today? She would say anything to cut this meeting short. “How fares the loot then?”

Everyone was silent at Zipper’s words. After an excruciating Bit, Domeniko spoke up, “You are just going to let this slide…” Gangui looked at her, his eyes wide with fear, all but begging for stronger words to help in the situation. The two dark death dealers simply laughed dismissively as before.

Zipper stared, confused, her anger rising once again, not completely sure what exactly she was doing wrong-

Oh.

Dark gods in Rhakros and Sirothelle, they expected her to play this actualized retardation of a pantomime out like… there wasn’t a comparison quite idiotic enough for it. They wanted her to shout her beliefs to the room, to fight and suffer as ideals clashed, to turn simple courtesies into monuments to self-aggrandization, to play out this child’s game to its colossally fucked up end-

Screw it, and screw everyone in this room.

“I said how fares the loot, my friends.” Zipper said. “But from your reactions? Clearly poorly. If you would consort with Plagueborn and Illusionkin for gold, then maybe you should wear the dress. Both of you.”

Caoindelbhan responded curtly, ignoring Zipper’s words about their stance, “We are the ones who filled our coffers with the blood money of those who you two deem to be standing for,”

“Can we change Zippomaria’s title to the Dishonorable One?”

“Can we change your title to faggot, you faggot?” She snapped.

She felt the room chill over even before she finished the sentence.

Gangui sighed and put a hand over his face. Domeniko smiled and started to jot down words on the parchment, “So shall we settle this dispute on the field or in the arena, ho, ho!”

“Arena,” The Bridge Builder guffawed, “Gangui stands or…”

“Fuck no,” Zipper said. She wondered whether she looked as angry as she sounded, because she swore she saw the big man almost take a step back. “I stand for me, you grim, big quim.” Right now, blowing her cover as a Transmutator was so beyond worth it to see faggot’s face before she impaled him on the forged spikes of his own stupid arena.

“I request a brief pause,” Gangui splurted.

Everyone nodded and he dragged Zipper -legs kicking- away from their ears. He leaned over and whispered, “Are you fucking crazy? They will cut you in half. The arena is a shitty way to die here. They open a rupture portal in the middle of the ground that leads to some forsaken world. If you fall in…”

“Gangui,” She was too angry to entertain the mister. “Consider my words very carefully: are you high? Are they all high? Where’s the audience? Have I entered a den of Sesserkin, sworn to play act a CHILD’S IDEA OF BADASSES FOR ALL ETERNITY?” she shouted the last 7 words loudly enough for the next floor to hear.

She clearly did not take what she assumed to be hazing well.

The warrior put his hands on Zipper’s shoulders and couldn’t help but smile at her unusual antics, “Shh-- You speak as if you could slay them. They are powerful. Look at them, they probably have some sort of magic power,”

“They so do not.” Where Attunement failed her in the jungles, Transmutation continued to illuminate her path; her ever-growing etherist’s sixth sense was honed enough to sense- no, why was she even entertaining this train of thought. They were not mages. They were charlatans with a painfully unconvincing gimmick. Maybe the people of Foster’s were fool enough to buy this charade, but not her. “They’re flesh and blood and they’re dead things in the future I see. I’ll kill them fuckin’ all.”

“How do you plan to kill them? You think I stand a chance?” Gangui asked, still ignorant to his client’s power, still thinking he was her ace in the hole.

“I think an infant with a shovel stands a chance,” Zipper said. She blinked. Right, he was her champion. “But fine. They wanna talk might? They wanna see blood in the arena? They want to see ascension? I will give you a sword so powerful it will burn Robin Stark himself - and you will take that sword and shoooooooove it up his anus, rupture through his every one of his 79 cuntin’ organs, and protrude up his throat like an inverse blow job and and and fuckin’ and-” Her rage just fell. Just like that. No transition, no gradual fall from angry to calm. Her anger just fell away in a heartbeat.

No: repurposed.

She took a deep breath. She took a very deep breath and when she spoke again, her voice was ice.

“Mister Gangui, tell them we’ll fight in two breaks, and bring me your best- No, not that one,” she said, waving away his reflector sword. “Bring me your best steel sword and I will show you what real magic looks like. Stark and his toy box elements ain’t got shite on real ether.”

Team Overview:
A very entertaining thread and really well written. As you worked by allowing each other to partly write the other PC as well as your own, you get a collaborative overview to share. I have sometimes worked this way with other players too, and allowed them to run my PC. When people write well together it can be a really fun, dynamic and good way of roleplaying. It’s obvious that you two trusted each other and have the skill and experience needed for this kind of collab. Your characters also match each other really well. They are both so ... Etzori. They should date ;)

Extra Fun Bonus for the pompous manner in which they introduce themselves. “It is I, Gangui the Patriot.” “She is Fiona Zippomaria O’Connor, the Purveyor of Justice.” It seems like the Etzori PCs are starting to speak just like... yeah, I’m sure you know who I mean, you guys have humor ^^ I also love words like “heavy-metal footfalls”.[/align]
