Hello lovely Rharne players,

I'm just posting here to say that I'm going to be stepping down from moderating in Rharne. I've really enjoyed being part of this lovely place, but I simply don't have the time in the day needed. So, I'm going to step back from here. Thanks to the players here and huge love to Rumour and Zenith. It really wasn't an easy decision, but I would rather do one thing properly than two things badly.

You're all fabulous! All good wishes,

Peg

[Rharne] OOC Social Thread

Hello, my lovely Rharnians!

I would like to give a warm thank you to Pegasus for all of her support and hard work in Rharne. She has worked hard to keep this city active despite having a ton of work on the Scalvoris side, and I’m so grateful to her for her efforts. Please join me in wishing her well in Scalv, and give her your thanks when you see her around the site and in Discord!

I’d also like to thank Zenith for his hard work with Rharne’s development. While he hasn’t been able to be active on the site as of late, he is one of the original creators of Rharne and brought me on board to this city, and I will always be grateful to him for allowing me the opportunity to mod and develop here. He’s elected to step down as a city mod until he can be more active on the site, so please join me in thanking him for his contributions and keep your fingers crossed that he’ll be back soon!

That leads me to the next item: Rharne’s looking for a Storyteller! I’ve posted a staff recruitment request here, so please take a look if you’re interested in supporting this city.

I’d also like to build Rharne’s activity back up and provide you all with an opportunity to create exciting plots. Along that line, I have a question for you all. What would you like to see more of in Rharne? What seasonal events are you hoping to see in Ashan? And how can I support your character’s development and narrative?

Cheers,
Ru

[Rharne] OOC Social Thread

I'm currently working on completing all of the outstanding NPC write-ups and have added a description of the Thunder Priestess' Matriarch into our lore so you have a better idea of who's leading the faction! Give me a shout if you have any questions or would like your PC to interact with her.

Thalia Karvilius

Race: Human
DoB: 27th of Ymiden, 674
Title: Matriarch
Blessing: Palenon (Exalted)
Skills: Leadership: 90, Unarmed Combat: 85, Weapon (Short Sword): 80, Intelligence: 76, Tactics: 70, Deception: 67, Intimidation: 52, Negotiation: 43

When Thalia Karvilius enters a room, she does so with power and purpose. Nothing about the matriarch of the Thunder Priestesses is quiet or withdrawn – least of all her height, which allows her to stand at a commanding 6’2”. She is easily spotted in a crowd and demands to be taken seriously, though this rarely needs to be said aloud. She walks with a confidence that, to some, borders on arrogance, and looks everyone she talks to directly in the eyes as if to ensure that there cannot be any misunderstanding or miscommunication. Though her face is lined with signs of age and experience, her shoulder-length auburn hair is healthy and well-kempt, and her incisive brown eyes are always alert, even during exhaustion.

Thalia is often viewed as a loud, decisive, and impatient leader. She is a straight shooter and is not afraid to say exactly what's on her mind. But beneath her abrasive surface, she cares deeply about Ilaren, her faction, and the people of Rharne. She was raised in the city by a family that notably has a long line of Thunder Priestesses in its past, which meant that nobody was surprised when she declared her own interest in joining the faction. Though some see her rise to matriarch as nepotism, given her family’s history, no one can argue that she did not work hard to earn her position - first as a Priestess in the Warrior Branch and later as the faction's leader. To this day, she continues to work long, gruelling hours and sees it as her mission to support Ilaren’s goals and keep Rharne safe at any cost. This can sometimes lead to morally questionable decisions, but a sharp look tends to shut down any opposition – at least, it has so far…

More development! Please join me in giving a warm thank you to Sephira for developing the Zephyrus. It’s a fantastic write-up and is also a new mount for all of you Lightning Knights and Thunder Priestesses to play with. To go along with the write-up, I’ve added a new law into the Rharnian legislature to declare it illegal to capture, tame, or kill a Zephyrus if you do not belong to either of these factions. Where you decide to follow this law is, of course, your prerogative…

In addition to the Zephyrus, I’ve written up two more Head Priestess NPCs for the Thunder Priestess faction: one for the Cleric branch and one for the Emissary branch! Please see below.

Drina Louarn

Race: Sev'ryn/Human
DoB: 10th of Vhalar, 676
Title: Head Priestess (Cleric branch)
Blessing: Palenon (Adored)
Skills: Persuasion: 86, Meditation: 84, Unarmed Combat: 76, Leadership: 71, Teaching: 67, Tactics: 54, Storytelling: 42, Brewing: 38

Drina Louarn was raised in the small town of Alnerwick, which sits halfway between the city of Rharne and the Orm’del Sea alongside the River Zynyx. Many arcs ago, her sev'ryn father immigrated to the area from Desnind. He found the city proper too busy and odorous for his liking, and so he soon travelled away from the city of Rharne and into the Stormlands with the hope of finding somewhere more peaceful to settle down. It was in Alnerwick where he met Drina’s mother, whose family had lived in the town for generations and owned a large brewery. Though it was far from love at first sight, the pair kept running into one another and eventually became close friends – and, later, lovers. Drina took from the two of them some of her personality – the patience, stoicism, and courage that allowed her to enter the Thunder Priestess faction – and learned the rest – the shrewdness and ambition that helped her ascend its ranks – on her own.

Drina is a petite woman with an unexpectedly quiet presence. She is a mere 5’3” with short black hair and serious brown eyes that can stun someone into silence. It is not difficult to tell at a glance that she is someone who takes life seriously. She rarely smiles and has occasionally been called cold and unkind by those who do not know her well or who have found themselves falling out of her favour. That said, Drina is considered the most patient of the Head Priestesses. Her door is always open to novitiates and priestesses who need her help, and she has mentored many a Cleric who remember her as being compassionate towards their needs. Still, it would be a mistake to misunderstand her patience and compassion for complacency. Drina is by far the most calculating Head Priestess and harbours dreams of becoming the next Matriarch. Every move she has made within the faction has been with the goal of one day becoming its leader and, if she had her way, that day would come sooner rather than later.

Jordyn Nji'toraj

Race: Biqaj
DoB: 83rd of Ashan, 679
Title: Head Priestess (Emissary branch)
Blessing: Palenon (Adored)
Skills: Politics: 85, Rhetoric: 81, Unarmed Combat: 76, Intelligence: 68, Leadership: 63, Persuasion: 60, Socialization: 52, Seafaring: 45

It is said that Jordyn Nji'toraj’s presence is so big that it will one day overshadow the mountain itself. Much to the chagrin of the other branches, it is also said that in a popularity contest, Jordyn would easily take the prize as the friendliest and most well-liked Head Priestess. She is warm, gregarious, and enjoys nothing as much as a good party. In fact, her personality suits Rharne so well that those who meet her never guess that she wasn’t born and raised in the city. Instead, Jordyn was born on a ship in the middle of the Orm’del Sea and spent her childhood travelling from port to port with her nomadic biqaj family. Her experience and knowledge of other cities and cultures is wide and varied, and it was one of the reasons – along with her love affair with rum – that Ilaren sought her out and marked her. She is the only Head Priestess to have been explicitly recruited by Ilaren to join the Thunder Priestess faction and, while she would never brag about this in the presence of the others, she considers this fact a point of pride.

Jordyn’s appearance, like her personality, is also pleasant. She stands at 5’7” with long, wavy black hair and dark brown eyes. Her attire tends to shift with the culture, depending on the city she’s in, but she usually accessorizes like a crow’s nest regardless of location: all beads and feathers and jewels. But while the Head Priestess of the Emissary branch may be likable, it is that very likability that makes her a force to be reckoned with. Jordyn has a way of gaining trust, loosening tongues, and lowering the defenses of her conversation partners in order to obtain information that they might not otherwise share. She has a voice like honey, eyes like an eagle, and a memory like a safe. Only the most foolish observer would take her agreeability for weakness.

Please join in me in thanking Sephira for once again bringing magic to Rharne! She's created two gorgeous new development pieces that I highly recommend you check out.

The first is the beautiful Fenrix, which are commonly owned as pets throughout Rharne. Read the write-up here.

The second development piece is the Isle Vyrelle, a mysterious and bioluminescent island in Lake Lovalus that I would love to see you all explore... or use for semi-dangerous date nights!

A note on the ithecal: Hi folks! As many of you likely know, the ithecal race received a rewrite. Given that the ithecal are a fairly large population within Rharne, I thought I'd make some comments regarding the rewrite and how it affects our city. From a race relations perspective, Rharne should still be fairly comfortable with the ithecal race - especially given its proximity to Ivorian. That being said, I'll be reviewing the race updates and will let you all know if I make any changes to the race relations page.

I will also be going through the ithecal NPCs within the next week or so and updating their appearance and personalities to reflect the changes. This will primarily affect the Bronze Boar, the Rharne Bank, and Little Ivorian. Little Ivorian may also receive an update to its description.

In terms of Rharne's relationship with Ivorian, I've reached out to Squirrel to confirm if Rharne and Ivorian are still allies.

New flora & wine: On a non-ithecal note, Sephira was kind enough to develop the Dusk Grapes for Rharne and the Starlight wine to go along with it. I'm very excited for these new development pieces, and hope to see them used IC! Thank you so much, Sephira.

Isle Vyrelle is a fantastic location write-up. It gave me an interesting idea for a plot for a job thread, which mine are usually lacking in the plot department. ;)
