It was perhaps an inevitability that threats would appear, this fact didn't particularly scare Symbri she'd had the time to steel her heart even if she opposed the idea of violence. When the men with pitchforks a appeared Symbri left the weight of her companion to the girl who was helping them and gave them both the most reassuring smile she could muster.
“I'll take care of these men, if they choose to fight us, I'm not afraid, but they should be.”
In two parts she tried to both reassure herself and allies while leaving an empty threat in the air for those that would fight her. Fight or flight the name of this game, but if her allies could flee while she fought she would be happy, if she accepted few wounds she could catch up to those she'd sworn to protect. She wouldn't die right? She wasn't ready for that fate the adrenaline in her veins was all the measurement she got however her mind was trying to betray her and have her flee. Your strong Symbri, An immortal has chosen you twice now, perhaps it was a illusion but there was truth to those words, even if she was a failure she'd been chosen she must have something in her worth choosing she just had to find it.
“Get moving I'll catch up, I promise.”
With that Symbri ran forward and vaulted towards the man with the spear before changing directions to vault towards the man with the club, the spear wasn't something she wanted to impale herself on and the element of surprise never hurt. Her goal was to land a kick to the mans face before quickly retreating to plan a second attack. If she could harass them without giving them time to plan counter attacks against her.
“You won't beat me here heathens, I've been chosen!”
She hoped her own words could invigorate her she didn't see herself intimidating her attackers but she had to do her best if not for herself than for those who counted on her, more than her life now hung in the balance.

Elijah sometimes got distracted, especially when women were involved and unfortunately his curiosity got the better of him here. Wondering who his companion, Tristan, had the pleasure of spending the short time with. Sneaking up to the window the Duke had exited from the smuggler stepped up onto his toes and peered into the hut. He had to hold back a chuckle when he saw the wildly attractive savage laying in the bed, apparently she had enjoyed their time together no matter how short.
Smirking the mortalborn turned around to congratulate the other man on his conquest only to see the tail end of him disappearing into the forest. Looking between him and the armed woman who seemed plenty capable of caring for herself he made a split second decision. Shaking his head at his own idiocy he chased after the noble into the forest, following the same trajectory of the Duke until he too stumbled across the clearing.
Fighting back a stray branch as he came into the area he sighed, leaning forward to catch his breath. "I bloody hate forests." The son of Edasha scanned the area quickly and was a little confused. "What are you doing?" The aged smuggler raised an eyebrow at the man knelt between the two shrines in the middle of a random jungle. Maybe he expressed his faith differently from the noble but random forest prayers were definitely not in his résumé.
Looking between the two shrines he decided to examine them for anything out of place or useful to the two men, perhaps there was something about the shrines. Besides, with the current events of the night Elijah was of the belief that pretty much anything could happen. "Don't you think shrines here are a bit odd? I don't think any of those wild folk back there worship them." He looked back at the noble again as he searched for anything interesting, his spare hand fingering the flask in his pocket.

Vincent quietly let Symbri take up a position under his right arm as the began moving towards the outside of the village. Though with his Taithir abilities running the help wasn't necessary, but it was welcome and Vincent wasn't about to belittle the kindness his charge was trying to show him. Though their smooth sailing was short lived as three of the villagers moved to block their path forward. Two clubs and one pitchfork.
As Symbri extracted herself for Vincent and moved forward to intercept the men, giving well meaning instructions to the young village girl and a somewhat reassuring smile to try and cover the fear Vincent was sure was beginning to well up in her as it was in him. Looking down at the girl, and though he still hurt gave her a small nod in the direction of the edge of the village. "As soon as you see an opening you run for the clearing, we'll be right behind you." With that Vincent stepped up beside Symbri. "You take the one on the right, I'll take the two on the left. Noble intentions are good and all, but you're no use to be dead or captured. We make it out of her together, or we end here together." Though no sooner had he said that than a somewhat familiar woman sprang from between two of the hovels and engaged the three armed villagers.
"Correction..." Vincent began, "Help her, as soon as you see an opening to disengage and run for the clearing you do that, I'll do the same." With that Vincent sprang forward, a ethereal tower shield forming on his left arm and a brilliant blade of light coalescing into existence in his right hand. As Vincent rushed the three men, he raised his shield and aimed for one of the men with a club, looking to ram into him and hopefully push him out of the way and off balance, at the same time he kept his eye on the man with the pitchfork, as it was the only weapon in the group that had any kind of reach.

Tristan already loved Ilaren a lot, but he came to the conclusion that he would love her even more if she helped Vivian and also kept the savages from dying. He had half expected her to show up and talk to him after his prayer (and he had of course expected Qylios to do the same because they were both nice Immortals), but nothing happened which either meant that she was not happy – or that she had decided not to waste any time, but simply do what he had asked her to. He chose to believe the latter because he was a very optimistic man, and she was his Ilaren!
He had been worried when Elijah had disappeared (Had he died? Had he been captured by the savages? Randomly teleported to a new place?), but then the man suddenly showed up, and the young duke breathed a sigh of relief. “I hate forests as well”, he remarked somewhat dryly. “Unfortunately my duchy is full of them! As for what I’m doing, I was praying. That’s what you usually do in front of shrines. And yes, it’s pretty odd that there are shrines here. I think the Immortals put them here, and they are part of our mission!”
“By the way, do you still have your flask?” he then asked. He was feeling a bit better now that he wasn’t alone in the forest anymore even though Ilaren still hadn’t said or done anything. “You should drink from it! The stuff that’s in there makes you really strong and fast, and …” He broke off abruptly, stared and pointed. There was a strange glow in front of the shrines now! Maybe Ilaren had decided to open a portal for them?
“Vivian, where are you?” he screamed because he didn’t want to leave her here in case Ilaren had really opened a portal and stepped closer to the strange glowing thing. The portal would probably close again soon. “We need you here! Run! Run as fast you can!”

The other two finally got in gear and started to move, and things were looking good for the battle. There was something vaguely familiar about the other man, but she couldn't quite place it, not with her mind all fogged over from Ilaren's brew as it was. Still, things were going well, and it looked like they'd have the enemies in hand shortly. Then she heard Tristan calling for her from the jungle interior and swore.
The knight hesitated for a moment, then growled and made a wide, heavy swing to give herself some space. Then she turned and ran into the forest, in the direction of her companions. It wasn't in her nature to leave a fight unfinished, but the ones left in the village at least had some one with them who could fight, Tristan and Elijah were not warriors. If they had gotten into trouble, they'd need her help to get out of it. She could only hope she could get to them before something really bad happened.
When she got to them, she growled at seeing there was no threat, then skidded to a halt in front of the alter of Ilaren, shielding her eyes from the glow. "That's...bright. What's going on here?" she asked, her tone concerned. It was alter to her liege, so she doubt it was a threat, but finding one out here was...odd. "Think this thing is our mission?" she asked the other two, her voice curious, though she kept her guard up and kept looking behind them for enemies.

The smuggler chuckled at the comment of the noble, it was amusing how trivial he made it sound that he had his own Duchy. You would think it a completely common thing if you only heard Tristan talk about it. Still at least he agreed that it was odd they had found such strange shrines in the middle of a jungle. "Maybe they did put them here, I very much doubt the natives did it." The mortalborn continued to search as he talked.
Elijah's search of the alters were unfortunately fruitless but as he returned towards the noble it appeared he had no need to search. At the mention of the flask he did remove it and examine it, briefly but again decided to save it. He didn't need the strength Tristan was talking about right this second, he was doing just fine as it was. Of course he was quickly taken away from the flask and to something else as the man pointed at him with a panicked expression.
"What is it, what are you pointing at, is it a spider?" Elijah began to turn and pat at his shoulders until he noticed it, the glow that was previously hidden from him. "Erm, well that's new." Elijah's eyebrows raised as he looked at the strange light, confused but not afraid of it he looked back to the noble. "What do you suppo..." He was cut off as he began shouting for the knight, their companion who was not yet present.
It was all moving so fast and Elijah just watched the man, wondering if shouting was the best idea, who knew what was lurking in the jungle or maybe the savages would come. It seemed they were in luck though as the only thing to arrive was Vivian, armed, ready and clearly expecting some kind of threat. "Honestly Vivian I don't know but I am pretty sure they didn't make it." He gestured nonchalantly over his shoulder to where he had come from. "Either way I much prefer strange ethereal glow to armed jungle people." The smuggler smiled what could only be described as a reassuring smile, although, it was not too convincing.

And so, Team Ilaren made it, together, to the clearing. Tristan, Vivian and Elijah each of them stood together in the clearing and there, starting at the shrines, the light glowed more and more brightly. Tristan yelled for Vivian to hurry up and she made the decision which, as it turned out, decided the game. As they stood, the ethereal light swirled around them, glowing brighter and brighter still until, in fact, they could not see anything other than the glow, swirling around them. It wasn't blinding, just warm and comforting and all encompassing.
Out in the main village, too, the light level first rose and then the lights, like fireflies and then like will'o'wisps and then, like glow-worms and torches started to twinkle and then swirl. They too found themselves completely wrapped up in the sudden, swirling.
As the light surrounded them all, the villagers, the clearing, all of it began to clear away and there, instead, was ....
something quite else.
