Alright, the sign-ups are closed! (4 days later -.-)

In any case, I am going to catch up on PMs tomorrow, and after that I'll go kick of some moderated threads. I've been exchanging PMs with a lot of you, and a whole bunch of plots are falling nicely into place, you'll start seeing more moderator presence from me shortly...

You're all bloody doomed

Outside of trying to deliver meaningful plots to all players here, I've been chipping away at developing the Merchant Families, so you've got those to look forward to. It's not going quite as fast as I'd like, but I am making progress. I also intend to write a Rynmere gazette, so if you have anything the gazette ought to know about, or want to put in an advertisement, shoot me a PM!

Another major project I'm working on is to get all of Rynmere's lore into one thread. There's a whole bunch of info scattered all over the place and I'd like to reorganize a bit so you don't have to browse five different threads to find the info you need. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding this, don't hesitate to let me know. This is more of a long-term project I do at the side, so it won't take away from ST-ing time.

From tomorrow on out I'll have a bunch of time to dedicate to ST-ing here, so hopefully a lot of things I've been planning to do will start to kick off!

Looking forward to ruin your lifes start writing with you!

I am getting to those threads, I promise! ;)

While I do however, I wanted to raise a question with all Rynmere players. This question stems from when I started counting who of all the noble PCs were still active. Unfortunately, the amount of abandoned/deceased/retired nobles is quite high and this got me thinking.

First of all, after some discussion with other staff, someone suggested that instead of listing open slots for the Rynmere nobles, we simply list the actual PCs (active, deceased, retired) in all the noble houses and remove all the empty spots. This would also alleviate the burden of keeping track of the various ages of the characters and would allow future nobles to pick a suiting age and gender themselves. Do you think this would be an improvement?

The second question I'd like to ask, which also ties back into the high dropout of nobles, is if the rules for approving nobles should be changed. I've already had some discussion about this with other staff, but I'd like to get your input as well.

Personally I think it should be opened up a bit more. Players who previously had a noble but killed him/her off should be allowed to make a new one but would have to go through a special approval process. Similarly, players who abandoned their noble PCs should, in my view, also be allowed to start a new one under the condition of offing their old character and going through the same special approval process (not too keen on having a dozen PCs turned into NPCs) Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The aim would be to get more active nobles whilst ensuring (to the furthest extent possible) that those PCs will remain active while also keeping a noble PC be a fairly exclusive thing.

Thoughts?

Mural,

I think this is an excellent idea. Let’s simply list the actual PCs and remove the empty slots. I never understood why noble PCs had to be a particular age and gender anyway. If we remove the empty slots, we need to decide how many children per family would be realistic though.

We should also keep track of illegitimate children.

I also agree that people should be allowed to make a new noble if they stop playing their current one or if said PC dies.

What would the special approval process look like though?

And what about playing bastards (like Hart) or members of the extended family (such as somebody that is descended from one of Ebony Venora's sibings)?

Will such PCs require approval?

Hey. A couple seasons ago I tried to start this character and I kind of ended up putting her on the back burner and forgetting about her, as well as the threads she was involved with. I'm trying to get active on her again and I was wondering if anyone wanted to thread with me. I'm open to current or memory threads.

Sorry to anyone I started a thread with and sort of let slip by. Like I said, I lost all inspiration for this character.

I've reactivated you on the Nobles list, as requested. Welcome back. Enjoy your stay!

Hey Ivy,

Welcome back to Rynmere! I would be more than happy to join you in a thread if you felt you might want to meet with Xander at all. If you are interested just send me a PM and we can figure something out, there is a lot going on in Rynmere at the moment I am sure we can find some common ground.

Do I count as abandoned? I see the activity check button but there is no PM about what it means or what I'm supposed to do with it?

Nah, Activity Check isn't being implemented right now. A site announcement will be made when it is.
