Original Submission Lunas Dream
Luna's Dream
Image
Opened in Vhalar 717, Luna's Dream provides care for the orphans of Scalvoris Town and beyond. It is a pleasant building nestled in well kept and pretty grounds. Funded through Cally's restaurant, the orphanage makes no charge for those who wish to adopt a child, but there is a stringent process for that. The focus of Luna's Dream is to make sure that the children who live here have all of their basic physical needs met, are well fed and have good medical care. More than that, though, the aim is that all the children feel secure, cared for and are given the best start in life possible.

This means certain things; there are communal areas in Luna's Dream where all of the children and staff eat together, for example and there are large play rooms. The garden is split into sections; out the back is a fenced off area which produces fruits and vegetables. There is also a chicken coop out there. The parts of the garden which are accessible to the children have areas of seats under shady trees, outside play areas and flower gardens. Inside, each child has their own room with their name on the door. The only exception to this is for the newborns or infants who arrive; the nursery is a large room with a number of cribs in it.

The children in Luna's Dream all receive a good education, focused on giving them choices. Any visitors to the orphanage will be greeted by the large and hairy dog who lives there. This enormous shaggy creature is as daft as a brush with the children themselves and would defend them with his life. Within a few steps of opening up the wooden gate, any strangers are accompanied by the dog all the way up to the front door which inevitably is shut.

Other Information: A kind soul, Felicia is the manageress of Luna's dream, overseeing the care of the children and making sure that the place is run smoothly. She is a well organised woman who seems calm even amidst total chaos. Her hair is usually tied back and is a deep brown. She has pale skin and dark brown eyes.

Race: Human
Age: Cylus, 680
Title: Teacher
Skills: Teaching:76, Writing: 53, Mathematics: 51, Singing: 40, Musical Instrument: HarpL 60
Other Information: Miss Nats as the children call her, is the teacher for Luna's Dream. She is a focused individual and an excellent teacher. The children seem to universally adore her; she knows every name of every child she has ever taught. Outside of the classroom, Nats is a quiet young woman who gets on with her job. She doesn't tend to socialise much, preferring her own company.

Mr Chris

Image
Name: Chris Jonson
Race: Human/ Biqaj
Age: Zi'da, 675
Title: Gardner
Skills: Gardening:70, Storytelling: 63, Unarmed: 60, Sword: 60, Crossbow: 60, Acting: 51, Acrobatics: 50
Other Information: Mr Chris is adored by the children. He tends the garden but, on any given trial, he is as likely to be found with a gaggle of children around him, listening to him tell a story or showing them magic tricks. He seems to be quite a dour individual yet the children bring out a side of him that is not often shown around adults.

There are whispers among the adults that Mr Chris is more than he appears. Some say that he is the son of Cassion, but there is no evidence of that. However, his storytelling is something of a legend and, there is no doubt, that he worships that Immortal.

Original Submission Location Witchwood Graveyard
Witchwood Graveyard
Image
Witchwood Graveyard lies just a short walk away from the edge of Almund, and is the biggest cemetery on Scalvoris. In accordance with the island's funeral traditions each headstone is not marked with the name of the person who lies below it, nor any other details to identify them, but instead with a single symbol that had some significance to the departed in life. Because of this gravestones are not arranged in any set order but instead are grouped together in clumps, as family members tend to reserve spaces for themselves next to the graves of their loved ones. It is not customary for large groups to visit the graveyard together, and so Witchwood is usually very quiet during the day and normally appears to be deserted, enhancing the naturally sombre feel of the place.

There are no official rules governing Witchwood besides the laws of the island in general, although visitors are always warned by the locals not to visit at night. When it grows dark the graveyard takes on a haunting chill even on the hottest nights, and because of the grave-robbers, necromancers, and pacters that are attracted to the place it can often be very dangerous. However even the most despicable of mortals tend to stay clear of Witchwood graveyard during Vhalar, for it is during the nights of this season that strange and terrifying creature seem inexplicably drawn to the place, and those that tread in their territory often do not see the sunrise ever again.

Temple Monkey Original Submission
Temple Monkey
Image
Developed by Tio Silver
Price: 350gn

Habitat: Sweetwine Woods

Lifespan and Development: A typical Temple Monkey reaches maturity at two years of age, and lives for between 14 - 18 years.

Diet: Entirely herbivorous, focusing mainly on leaves and fruit.

Temperament: Normally passive and quick to flee, but become violent if another of their species is harmed or captured.

Abilities: It was once believed that Temple Monkeys were beloved by Ziell, for this strange kind of monkey has always seemed to sense the coming of danger far before it arrived and was able to flee, as if they knew the future before it arrived. Because this made them hard to capture, and because the first settlers on Scalvoris believed them to be sacred, these creatures required a lot of effort to study, and so most researchers deemed it a waste of effort to try and figure out their secret. Since the founding of the Scalvoris University however many of the new researchers on the island have turned their attention to these creatures, and from the few subjects they've been able to study have begun to develop a rather startling theory: that these monkeys have a natural, instinctive ability to use the magic of attunement. This explains both the monkey's ability to avoid danger and why they are often seen moving around with their eyes closed, as if in prayer, which is how they got their names.

Original Submission Golden Cliffs
The Golden Cliffs
Image
Tucked away in the southern end of the Sweetwine Woods is an unassuming lake, filled with many fat fish, with a lazy run off that connects to the eastern coast of Scalvoris. And looming over this lake is a steep, sheer cliff dotted with several cave entrances, all of which are at least ten meters up the face. And in the warmer times of year, each day, one of these cave entrances leaks a slow moving honey-fall that flows down the cliff and into the lake. These cliffs aren't long, 700 meters or so, and thirty meters high. From their peak, they slope downward in a gentle, rocky hill heading south.

But this treasure doesn't come without creators or protectors. The entire vicinity around the lake, the cliffs, and the back hill are inhabited by large, brown bears. This area is absolutely proliferated with these bears, many more than would be considered normal for any forest. The bears are the primary beneficiaries of the Royal Honey that comes from these cliff-side caves. And they serve as the first line of defense for the hives that produce the Royal Honey. The bears maintain the standard protectiveness of territory expected of most bears, meaning they challenge infiltrators, and are particularly aggressive when with cubs.

However, when any creature attempts to take any of the honey from the honey-falls, or scale the cliffs, or hike the hill, a warning call goes out from the bears. And that's when they attack, en masse. These bears are much smarter than they appear, and a study of them will show that they maintain sentries and patrols of the area, that they have advanced family and societal dynamics. And they are very protective of their honey and the hives.

But the bees are the real problem. This hive provides nearly all of the pollination for the entirety of Scalvoris. The Grizzly Bees are a common sight all over the island, and most of them are normal in size and temperament. However, the closer one gets to Sweetwine, and the closer one gets to the hive the larger the bees appear to become. Outside of Sweetwine the bees range from 1-2 inches in length. Inside Sweetwine they can grow up to 6 inches in 9 inches in length. Around the lake, they can grow up to two feet in length. And within the hives, some of the biggest can grow up to 5-6 feet in length. And the closer one gets to the hive, the more aggressive the bees become.

And if one can find a way to get around the bears, the bees, and the cliffside, they will find a series of caves so massive, a city or two could be built within them, under the woods. And the Grizzly Bees maintain it vigorously. The honey that flows down the cliffs is excess they purge from the hive, for they make much more than they can use. And it is a veritable maze. There are caves filled with honey, others that are nurseries for the larva, others with the collected pollen, and of course, various Queen Chambers. A hive so large must have multiple queens to maintain such a population.

And within the deepest reaches of the caves are the vaults, as treasure hunters have come to call them. They were originally storage rooms for honey that has begun solidifying over the millennia these caves have existed. This petrified honey has been dubbed Royal Amber, and is incredibly valuable for its golden glow. The gems being formed from the liquid honey are not crystalline in their natural shape, but rather smooth and rounded. When treated with heat, the royal amber can be forced to change into a wide variety of colors without the structure failing, covering all available hues in the spectrum of flowers on the island.

Creatures in the Area

Bumble Bear

[album]11397[/album]

Name: Bumble Bear
Quick Facts: The Bumble Bear is very much like a grizzly bear in size and appearance. But it has three significant differences. The first is that it displays a higher intelligence than other bears, seemingly on par with sentient races. The second is they form a single, massive family that lives around the Golden Cliffs with duties and a basic societal structure. The third is that they are able to levitate as adults.
Height: 5 ft shoulder height
Width: 3 ft shoulder width
Length: 8 ft length
Weight: Females (500-600 lbs) Males (700-900 lbs)
Native to: Sweetwine Woods, Scalvoris
Locations: Sweetwine Woods, Scalvoris

Appearance: A massive bear, ranging in hues from blonde to brown to nearly black, is an imposing figure. Large, muscular, with loose fur and flesh, massive claws and teeth.

Habitat: These bears prefer temperate forests, and are only found in and around the Sweetwine Woods, particularly around the Golden Cliffs.

Lifespan and Development: Mothers give birth to 1-4 cubs every couple of years. They mate during, and have a gestation period of 180-250 days based on when they were impregnated. They delay the gestation in order to give birth during hibernation in the seasons. The mothers will raise the cubs for up to two years, being fiercely protective of them, able to fend off larger predators. She does not mate while raising her cubs. The cubs reach mating age after 5 years.

Diet: These bears are omnivorous, eating nearly anything they can find from small game, to roots, berries, mushrooms. But their preferred food is the honey from the hives, and the honey sweetened fish of the Golden Cliffs Lake.

Temperament: The bears are very protective and defensive of their territory, chasing off or killing any infiltrators. When with cubs, the mothers isolate themselves from the males, running them off if they come around. There are few things more aggressive and dangerous as a mother bear. The females will allow other females to spend time with them and their young, and often allow cubs to play with one another.

Abilities: The bears have incredibly tough skin, particularly strong against punctures and pierces, a natural defense against the Grizzly Bees they protect. Their hides also do not hold scent, even when forcibly thrust upon them. It does not neutralize scent, rather no scent can cling to it. This is believed to help make the bears deemed a non-threat to the bees. Upon maturity they are able to levitate a couple feet from the ground. They older they get, the higher they can float. The eldest bears can reach the caves entirely without climbing, and it is rumored some even live in there permanently. As with other bears, they maintain massive biting teeth, huge swiping claws, incredible strength, and surprising sprinting speeds. They also have the ability to organize themselves into a loose society with roles such as defensive patrols, food gathering, child rearing.

Grizzly Bees

[album]11396[/album]

Name: Grizzly Bee
Quick Facts: The Grizzly Bee is much like any other bee with two major differences. The first is that if not killed by disease or injury, they will live indefinitely. The second, because of their aging, is that they can grow much, much larger than normal bees. They live in a single, massive hive in Sweetwine Woods, and the closer one gets to the hive, the more aggressive they become.
Height: Outside of Sweetwine: .5 inch. Inside Sweetwine: 1-3in. Around the lake: 4-5in. And within the hives: 9-12in.
Width: Outside of Sweetwine: .5 inch. Inside Sweetwine: 1-3in. Around the lake: 4-5in. And within the hives: 9-12in.
Length: Outside of Sweetwine: 1-2 inches in length. Inside Sweetwine: 6 inches in 9 inches in length. Around the lake: 2 feet in length. And within the hives: 5-6 feet in length.
Weight: A few ounces to a few pounds
Native to: Sweetwine Woods, Scalvoris
Locations: Sweetwine Woods, Scalvoris

Appearance: A standard, fuzzy bee, often fat in appearance. They range in size based on distance they are found from the hive, with the smallest being furthest out, and largest being close to home. They are yellow and black, with loose stripes and translucent wings.

Habitat: Temperate and tropical climates, though this particular type of bee is only found naturally on Scalvoris. But it is theorized that if a queen were transplanted elsewhere, a new hive could be formed in a climate with enough flowering plants.

Lifespan and Development: Queens mate with drones and produce eggs on a nearly constant basis. However, a queen will not reproduce with a drone from her own brood, but rather from a different queen's brood within the hive. Despite queens being massive due to their longevity and safe lifespan, they always produce the same sized eggs, tiny, of a standard bee. The older queens simply produce more of them than younger ones. Depending on the type of bee within the egg, hatching can take from 3-5 days. Larva stage is typically 6-8 days. Pupa stage is typically an additional 6-8 days after which they are mature. New queens are fertile by day 25 or so, with drones taking an additional 10-15 days.

Diet: Pollen, from all flowering sources on Scalvoris. They are responsible for 99% of the islands pollination.

Temperament: The bees are incredibly protective of their hive and will attack any intruders, with the exception of Bumble Bears. Away from the hive they are fairly docile unless provoked.

Abilities: Indefinite lifespan unless injured or diseased. This also allows for them to reach incredible sizes as they age.

Others

Queen of the Lake

All creatures that reside in the Golden Lake at the base of the Golden Cliffs will have a sweeter taste to them because of the Honey Falls that flow into the lake. There is no additional change to these creatures aside from that.

Original Submission Ol Tuck's Run
Ol' Tuck's Run
Image
Through the middle of Sweetwine Woods, like a great, silver serpent winds the river known affectionately by all on Scalvoris as Ol' Tuck's Run. It is a shallow, boulder strewn river, 5-6 meters at its deepest points. The water is clear, usually a bit chilled, and serves to water the entirety of Sweetwine Wood. There isn't a stream, creek, or waterway in the forest that doesn't connect to the Run. The source of the surface side of the river is halfway between Sweetwine Woods and Scalvoris Town, about a half day's ride from either. It emerges powerfully from a granite outcropping and begins its journey toward the Scalvoris eastern coast. Several people believe that the river truly starts in the Scalvoris Mountains, and much of it runs underground. But none have managed to prove it yet.

The river is not deep enough for any boats larger than a canoe to travel upon, and many sections would require the canoe to be dragged or carried. The Run is filled with granite and quartz, both very hard and functional stones. It is often incredibly wide, two the three stones throw across, slow moving, even in the rougher areas. It is about a day and a half's walk in from its known source to its mouth. It's delta is fairly small and unassuming, though an incredibly active area. Salmon use this river often for spawning, so those attract many predators and fisherman alike.

But the most unique aspect of Ol' Tuck's Run is the unusual variety of creatures. While it does have many of the creatures one would expect to find in rivers, fish, waterfowl, otters, they are far more rare. This seems to be due to the overabundance of specialized turtle and tortoise species that live in and around the Run. It is said they were all born from Ol' Tuck, and they live in the trail he carved to be close to him. Unlike other turtles and tortoises, these unique species are all hardier, meaning they can survive Scalvoris' winters and cold weather. They do slow down in activity, but they are very much alive and functional.

Creatures in the Area

Gasping Skitterer

Image
Name: Gasping Skitterer
Quick Facts: Poisonous Spines, Fast moving, Fast Swimmer, Aggressive
Height: 1-3 ft (from base of shell to tip of tallest spine)
Width: .5-1.5 ft (using base of shell)
Length: 2-4 ft (using base of shell)
Weight: 40-50 lbs
Native to: Ol' Tuck's Run, Scalvoris
Locations: Ol' Tuck's Run
Resources: Gasping Poison, Spikes from shell

Appearance: The Gasping Skitterer is an imposing figure, primarily to the spines that cover its entire body. Its shell has several long spikes up the center that connect to its spine, and several smaller ones jutting from both its shell and skin. It is of medium/small size, the size of a cat or small dog typically. It comes in a wide variety of earthy tones, often with a reddish sheen. Typically the spikes start off lighter in color and transition into darker. The females have eyes in various crimsons, whereas the males' eyes are more indigo and lighter purples.

Habitat: The Gasping Skitterer is a turtle, so much of its time is spent in and around Ol' Tuck's Run. It can often be seen swimming in the clear waters or burrowing itself in the mud along the banks. Occasionally it will be found in the woods near the river, usually while hunting. When winter comes and the river freezes, these creatures tend to migrate east toward the coast. They are able to survive in salt water as well as fresh, so they are just as comfortable there.

Lifespan and Development: The Gasping Skitterer has one of the shortest lifespans for the unique species found here. They tend to live about 6-8 arcs at most, and usually die from wounds sustained while hunting. Skitterers are able to mate at about 2 arcs of age. The eggs, once lain, will take about 90 trials to hatch. Skitterers grow very rapidly, and they do not care for their young. Once born, the skitterers are on their own, and able to hunt smaller prey.

Diet: The Gasping Skitter is both a carnivore and a carrion eater. It will often hunt fish, rodents, birds, and any other creature about the same size as it or smaller. It uses its speed to surprise attack and overtake its prey. If they prey fights back, all it takes is a couple punctures from the poison filled spines to end up as a meal for the skitterer. It also has a tendency to go after other creature's kills, willing to take an easy meal. If attacked by a larger predator, or a creature it stole its meal from, often times the poisoned spines get the best of the creature, providing food for several days to the turtle.

Temperament: The Gasping Skitterer is a hyper aggressive creature. It will attack and chase any creature that moves around it. With its mediocre eyesight and other senses, it really only chases that which moves. They are not intelligent creatures either, and are nearly impossible to train or make docile. The aggression also extends to their own kind, and the only reason they don't kill their kind off is due to the immunity they have to their own poison.

Abilities: The Gasping Poison is stored in the Skitterer's spines. The poison causes the victims lungs to slowly fill with liquid until they suffocate to death. However, it takes a fair bit of this to kill creatures larger than the Skitterer. Typically a full grown Skitterer would need to puncture a full grown man 5-6 times to inject enough poison to kill him. The smaller the skitterer, the more punctures it would require. The poison is stored in a bladder that is roughly a third of the skitterer's body mass (not counting the shell), kept right along the spine. The spines quickly loose their poisonous nature if removed from the skitterer, or if it is dead.

This turtle is also able to run and swim at incredibly shocking speeds, but only over short distances. It is a sprinter, and relies on surprise more often than not.

Tiny Tuck

Image
Name: Tiny Tuck
Quick Facts: Extremely Large, Camouflage as boulders and stones, very strong skin and shell and bones, Incredibly long lifespan
Height: 1m-6m+ (will continue to grow its entire life)
Width: 1m-6m+ (will continue to grow its entire life)
Length: 2m-12m+ (will continue to grow its entire life)
Weight: 300lbs+ (will continue to grow its entire life)
Native to: Ol' Tuck's Run, Scalvoris
Locations: Ol' Tuck's Run, Scalvoris
Resources: Skin (highly resistant to slash), Boulder Shell

Appearance: Tiny Tucks are the largest of the turtles and tortoises that live around Ol' Tuck's Run. Their shells appear to look exactly like the granite boulders around the river, and if their are hidden within the shell, its almost impossible to differentiate them. The males and females are the same in all manner in appearances. Their skin is dark grey, typically darker than their shell.

Habitat: Tiny Tucks are found mostly around Ol' Tuck's Run. But when breeding they can be found as far as the low foothills of Scaltoth Mountains, coastlines, and other rivers or lakes. They seem to always stick to rocky areas or well watered areas.

Lifespan and Development: Tiny Tuck's true lifespan is unknown. As far as Scalvoran researchers can tell, none have ever perished from old age. They can breed after reaching about five years of age, and lay large eggs that are camouflaged as rocks near running water. The main difference is these eggs are just as fragile as any other. The eggs hatch after a half arc. The babies reach maturity and adult size at about five arcs of age.

Diet: Tiny Tucks are strictly herbivores, and will eat any and all plant life. This includes leaves, stems, bark, roots, berries, fruits, and vegetables. They seem to be immune to most plant based toxins and poisons, and most of their time is spent foraging.

Temperament: Tiny Tucks are extremely docile, having no need to be aggressive or even fight back. When attacked, they hide within their boulder strength shell until it is safe once more. Most creatures don't even bother to try and kill one, as many a tooth and claw have been broken on their hide and shell.

Abilities: Tiny Tucks don't have any special abilities. Their skin is as tough as stone, and their shells even tougher.

Snatcher

Image
Name: Snatcher
Quick Facts: Excellent at hiding, long bite reach, lightning fast
Height: .5-1 ft
Width: .5-1 ft
Length: 1-2 ft
Weight: 10-20 lbs
Native to: Ol' Tuck's Run
Locations: Ol' Tuck's Run
Resources: Sinew, harvested from the neck muscles, used for cords, crossbow or bow strings, etc.

Appearance: The Snatcher Turtle is smaller compared to many of its brethren. It is always dark brown, to blend in with the mud on the banks of Ol Tuck's Run. It is smooth, sleek and uniform, ideal for camouflaging itself. It has an incredibly long neck compared to normal turtles, which is the key to its role in the ecosystem.

Habitat: The Snatcher strictly lives within the mud and waters of Ol' Tuck's Run, and it is very rare to be found outside of those areas. As a turtle, much of its life is spent in the water, finding new places to hide itself in order to catch prey. It can live in the briny waters where the river meets the coast, but cannot permanently live in the ocean.

Lifespan and Development: The Snatcher can live for about 20 arcs or so. Every Saun it lays its eggs in the mud, and the babies hatch in Vhalar. It takes about an arc for them to become fully grown.

Diet: Snatchers are strictly carnivorous, preferring to feast upon fish and other reptiles in the river. It lies in wait in holes and crevices or hidden in the mud waiting for prey to come by. The strike is incredibly fast due to the coiled muscles in its long and flexible neck.It never attacks animals too large for it to eat in a few bites unless in self defense. It isn't a fighter, if its initial attack doesn't succeed, it will hide in its hole and shell and wait to try again.

Temperament: Snatchers are quite cowardly, often hiding at the slightest hint of danger. They only attack in the form of sneak attacks on prey.

Abilities: Lightning fast strikes, camouflage in mud

Panhandler

Image
Name: Panhandler
Quick Facts: Digs, absorbs metal and gems into its shell
Height: 1-2 feet
Width: 1-2 feet
Length: 2-4 feet
Weight: 20-40 pounds
Native to: Ol' Tuck's Run
Locations: Ol' Tuck's Run
Resources: Small amounts of native metals and gems from the shell

Appearance: Panhandler Tortoises are the most flashy of those that inhabit Ol' Tuck's run, coming in many varied colors. Their skin and shells absorb metal, gems, and other minerals from the soil they dig through, adding to their appearance. While most of them are covered in the very common Quartz and copper, more rarely can ones of silver and other local gems be found. They are fairly small, with sharp, digging claws. They have tiny eyes due to their underground natures.

Habitat: Underground around Ol' Tuck's run. Panhandlers are almost always exclusively found underground. They can burrow through the most rocky of soils, and if given enough time, can dig through boulders. They are almost never found in the actual waters of Ol' Tuck's run, preferring the safety of ground.

Lifespan and Development: Panhandlers live for about 30 arcs. Their eggs are lain underground in spring, and spend an entire arc growing until they hatch. The babies spend two years in a burrow before venturing out on their own as adults.

Diet: Panhandlers are omnivorous, eating warms, roots, and other subterranean plants and insects. They absorb other nutrients, minerals, even water through their skin to add to their diet. Some theorize they can eat literally anything, and just prefer that which is underground.

Temperament: Panhandlers are very docile and very curious creatures. Often the only time they ever appear above ground is to investigate something disturbing the soil or ground and they are investigating. If captured, they can be relocated to patches of ground that one might want tilled. Many a farmer's child is sent to try and find them before planting season Captured panhandlers rarely stick around for long, tending to go back toward Ol' Tuck's Run. If found as eggs, they will treat their owner as mother, always tilling the ground near the mother's "den", and not leaving during their lifetime.

Abilities: Digging, collecting metals and gems randomly.

Treetle

Image
Name: Treetle
Quick Facts: Sharp claws, can climb trees, spreads moss
Height: .5-1 ft
Width: .5-1 ft
Length: 1-2 ft
Weight: 10-20 lbs
Native to: Ol' Tuck's Run
Locations: Ol' Tuck's Run
Resources: Sharp, hooked claws. Moss "seeds"

Appearance: Treetles are small, their skin like soil, though this is rarely seen. They are covered in a layer of moss at nearly all times from birth til death. They are actually tortoises and not turtles so they have the larger, humped shells instead of streamlined for water. They also have very large, sharp, hooked claws for climbing trees.

Habitat: Treetles are always found in and around trees. While they do prefer living trees, they can also be found within fallen trees, logs, and other wood sources, including firewood piles and structures near Ol' Tuck's Run.

Lifespan and Development: Treetles tend to live 10 arcs. Their eggs are laid in large patches of moss in the summer, and are hatched in fall. By the following Spring they are able to mate and are fully grown.

Diet: Treetles are omnivorous. Despite what many think, they never eat moss. Rather they eat bark, leaves, bird eggs, baby birds, insects, fruits, and nuts. Really anything they can associated with their tree habitats. They are very slow creature so catching other animals is rare, but if they did, they'd eat them too.

Temperament: Treetles are fairly docile, similar to squirrels in their temperament, albeit in a slower manner. They'd rather hide or flee from predators than fight. And due to the protection of their shells, don't fear jumping out of trees to avoid danger.

Abilities: Treetles are strong, slow climbers. They also greatly spread the growth of the moss they were born in. This moss grows upon their body, and every time a treetle poos, they spawn more of this moss. As such, when one finds moss covered trees around Ol' Tuck's Run, there are treetles nearby.

Fat Bob

Image
Name: Fat Bob
Quick Facts: Lots of tasty meat. Lots. Male companion to Old Bettys
Height: 3-5 ft
Width: 3-5 ft
Length: 6-10 ft
Weight: 500+ lbs
Native to: Ol' Tuck's Run
Locations: Ol' Tuck's Run
Resources: Tasty, fatty, marbled meat

Appearance: Fat Bobs appear to be a large tortoise that is in a shell 3 sizes too small. They are very fat and have lots of meat upon their bones. They come in all shades of greens, browns, greys, and blacks, their skin being darker than their shells. Only the males of this species are called Fat Bobs. The females are Old Bettys.

Habitat: As a tortoise, Fat Bobs live on the banks of Ol' Tuck's Run. They are known to roam all around the lands, the second most traveled of the local turtles and tortoises after the Tiny Tucks. If there are plants around, odds are, a Fat Bob will eventually show up. They are the occasional sight to farms as well.

Lifespan and Development: Fat Bobs are quite long living, up to 80-90 arcs or so. They continue to grow bigger, fatter with age. They mate with Old Bettys after about 20 arcs of age. It takes about a half arc for the eggs to hatch, and another 3 arcs to reach full maturity.

Diet: Anything plant based. Fat Bobs truly can and will eat all plants. Their particular metabolic systems allow them to extract the most nutrients from what the eat, which is what allows them to grow so unusually fat.

Temperament: Fat Bobs are extremely docile. If attacked, they disappear into their shells. They are not particularly curious unless its toward a new source of food. They don't fear people, and typically don't protest if moved, which can be done with great difficulty. This has led to them being one of the easiest creatures for hunters to kill being able to walk right up to them.

They are about half the size of Fat Bobs, their male counterparts. Their shells are not hard, but rather a soft, cool leathery feel. Every part of them to the touch is soft.

Habitat: Old Bettys can be found in a wide range around Ol' Tuck's Run, with large concentrations near to where people live. They connect well with people, and actively seek them out. As a tortoise, they don't live in water, so they are always found on land with suitable vegetation.

Lifespan and Development: Old Betty's can live for up to 50 arcs when unbound to a person. However, if they pair with a person, they will live for as long as that person does. Once their partner dies, they die too, even if its before their normal lifespan. Because of this, parents often give them to children as pets at a young age, to have a life long companion. They can mate after 10 arcs of age. It takes about a half arc for the eggs to hatch, and another arc to reach full maturity. Old Betty's also lay eggs once ever 2 tenday, typically 20 or so at a time.

Diet: Any form of vegetation, but seem to particularly enjoy fruits and vegetables, especially if hand fed by their partner.

Temperament: Old Bettys are incredibly docile and curious of people, and will actively seek them out for companionship. They reach maturity after 1 arc.

Diet: Turtle Doves eat fish, crabs, sea birds, reptiles, anything really they can find along the coast. They feed their young through regurgitation.

Lifespan and Development: Sous Sniffers live for about 5 years. They lay mate and lay eggs many times a year, which hatch in a single tenday. They reach maturity within a quarter arc.

Diet: Sous Sniffers are herbivores with a particular pentient for pungent herbs, spices, mushrooms, and roots.

Temperament: Sous Sniffers are fairy docile, preferring the safety of their shell to fighting or fleeing. They are smart enough to be tamed and kept as a pet, and are often used by grocers and chefs to track down specific ingredients. They are also very sociable amongst their kind and usually kept in pairs. A depressed Sous Sniffer often will look for a friend rather than the ingredients their owners seek.

Abilities: Sous Sniffers have incredibly strong senses of smell. When fed a specific plant based item, a sous sniffer can track down more of it. More experienced animal trainers can train them to be able to remember the scent on command, once they've eaten it at least once before.

Turtle Emerald

Image
Name: Turtle Emerald
Type of Material: Gemstone
How To Gather: Find it in Ol' Tuck's Run
Skill Level/Skills Needed: Field Craft (Novice) to gather, Jewelrycrafting (Novice) to use
Rarity: Very Common on Scalvoris, easily found in Ol' Tuck's Run. Uncommon off Scalvoris.
Durability: Low (for gems)

Native to: Ol' Tuck's Run

Information: Turtle Emeralds are formed when the shells of the many turtles and tortoises fall into the mineral rich waters of Ol' Tuck's Run and sit for many arcs. The high concentration of quartz and other minerals causes the shells to crystallize into a beautiful gemstone of green hues. Typically the shell segments fall apart from each other in the process, but in extremely rare cases a whole shell can be found crystallized. These gemstones are quite brittle, and are a favorite for youth as they are easy enough to find for anyone.

Myth - Ol' Tuck
Image
The story of Ol' Tuck is one as old as history. It is believed that Ol' Tuck was an ancient guardian on Idalos, responsible for building mountains and carving rivers all across the surface of the planet. It is often told that he has always carried a city of fairies upon his back, from when he was a small tortoise. But as he grew, the city grew and became prosperous. Some think that the city was actually the origin of fairies on Idalos as well. The city has been called many names from the Tuckton to Feyride to many others based on where the story is told. But it is always the same. Ol' Tuck as a young tortoise came upon this planet, and saw that it was not right. So he started with small change, pushing around stones and carving streams with his fairy brethren assisting him.

As Tuck grew, he built rivers and hills. And eventually oceans and mountains. But then the immortals came for him. It is often told that they were jealous of Tuck's strength and fairy civilization and attacked the giant tortoise. And so he battled while retreating across Scalvoris, carving the river called Ol' Tuck's Run. The city upon his back was destroyed and the fairies were slain. It is believed that each fairy corpse that lay in the wake became the new turtles and tortoises that populate the river area. Ol' Tuck is said to have fled into the ocean, and disappeared into the depths. Believers think that Ol' Tuck will return to rebuild the world after the Immortals lay waste to it and destroy each other.

Ol' Tuck is often viewed by religious zealots as a child's story for the immature. But often those that oppose Immortals' interventions in this world view him as a hero, and a harbinger of a better world.

Original Submission NPC The Curse Eater
Name:Gwyqora Zy'Akor
Created by: Qit'ria
Race: Biqaj
Birthday/Age: Saun 3rd, 689
Title: Curse Eater
Skills: Poisons 45, Intelligence 40, Trapmaking 37, Deception 34, Disguise 32
Details: The Curse Eater, as she is known, for her real name is kept secret, is a bit of a pariah in Almund. She was formerly a "curse maker" for hire, sailing from port to port, seeking jilted lovers, jealous spouses, and anyone else who wanted to get revenge on someone close to them. Gwyqora sold them "curses" which in reality was her typically using poisons, traps, and her manipulation to ruin their lives. There was nothing magical about it. Her business was successful, and she made quite the reputation, and just her arrival in port sent husbands scurrying home from their mistresses.

Until she picked the wrong victim. She poisoned a man who was in a trade dispute with another merchant. The poison was meant to just make his hair fall out and his bowels loose for a season. But he had a bad reaction to the poison and ended up dying. Unfortunately for Gwyqora, that man was the lover of an immortal, though which is still unknown. The immortal decided to give Gwyqora a taste of her own medicine, and afflicted her with over a hundred lesser curses, one of which that prevents her from dying until the curses are released.

The immortal wasn't completely cruel, and told the woman that for each curse she helped release in another, one of her own would be lifted. So Gwyqora's life was dedicated to researching lesser curses, often caused by mages or spirits or other magical phenomena. Every day she suffers under the pains of her own curses, and is now an outcast of Almund, never approached except for those that seek her insight into curses.

The Spellbound (Spell-bund.)

History
The Spellbound have existed for thirty-six Arcs founded by Declan through a treacherous ritual brought about by a blood covenant. A faction forged of ether, blood and steel; they were formed in direct opposition to The Seekers, and The Coven Of Ellasin. However over the course of the past decade the Spellbound have developed a hatred toward all factions unlike them. Founded on the date of 1st Saun 681 by Declan, Ravetal, and Skacath Morona. The three sorcerers had all run away in an attempt to flee the grasps of Ellasin and the Coven. While they did escape life became increasingly difficult for them, as they could never work normal jobs again. Declan had been a teacher prior to his involvement with the coven, Ravetal a huntress, and Skacath a cryptographer who worked for several pirates in Scalvoris. Declan, the transmutation mage, Skacath the Abberant, and Ravetal the Empath formed a covenant. The agreement had been a simple one; never to be one without the other, to slay their enemies together, and to cleanse Idalos of pirates and bandits alike.

Headquarters
Hidden deep within the most treacherous region of The Sweetwine Woods rests a very well hidden ancient building. It seems to have been built well, and has survived the test of many centuries of time only to be occupied by several “rogue” practitioners of magic. Gnarled, dead vegetation surrounds the area along with multiple thick trees which prevent a traveler from simply stumbling upon the location. Even if one were to somehow come across it; what seem to be various predatory animals frequent the area. If one manages to avoid the several traps set by the Spellbound they will finally reach the outside of the building. The structure has a Gothic appearance, and a massive tree grows through the center with large roots that wind throughout the entirety of the building. The roots seem to be what has upheld the structure riddled with holes, broken glass, and books covered with thick layers of dust. This is a compendium of knowledge made use of by the Spellbound, and only readable by those skilled in cryptography and various languages. The library is primarily consistent of hand written journals, and observations of old. The area both inside and outside of the structure always contains a dense fog that makes visibility an issue. There are several large windowless rooms within the ancient building, that can be used as a living quarters. However, there are various species of poisonous insect, and snakes that frequent the rat-ridden home. If one chooses to reside in the area they are typically defiance mage quarters where portions of the building can be restructured to the sorcerers liking. One may assume that the building had once been an extravagant mansion owned by a wealthy person.

The Oracle

Declan Morvetal

Title: Oracle Of The Bound
Race: Human

Date of Birth:

Birthplace: Unknown

Mark(s): Exalted, Sesser

Quote: "We cannot bear to regard ourselves simply as playthings of blind chance; we cannot admit to feeling ourselves abandoned. These Journeys, like artists, are born and not made. A thousand differing circumstances contribute to them, few of them willed. Most of us are not raised to actively encounter our destiny. We may not know that we have one. As children, we are seldom told we have a place in life that is uniquely ours alone. Instead, we are encouraged to believe that our life should somehow fulfill the expectations of others, that we will (or should) find our satisfactions as they have found theirs. Rather than being taugh to ask ourselves who we are, we are schooled to ask others. We are, in effect, trained to listen to others' versions of ourselves. We are brought up in our life as told to us by someone else! When we survey our lives, seeking to fulfill our creativity, we often see we had a dream that went glimmering because we believed, and those around us believed, that the dream was beyond our reach. Many of us would have been, or at least might have been, done, tried something, if... If we had known who we really were.”

Notable Mutations: Declan has somehow managed to survive several arcs without a change of appearance. He seems to no longer age, and that is due to the raw ether that exists beneath the surface of the elderly man. He stopped aging after fifty arcs, and seems to have no trouble moving about with ease. However, along with the inability to age came with a strange, powerful glow that surrounds him at all times regardless of what he does to conceal it.

Original Submission NPC Heve
Name: Heve Tare-Flame qalar-Treid
Created by: Ronan
Race: Ellune
Birthday/Age: 2nd of Cylus, Arc 678
Title: Scalvoris Flame Trooper
Skills: Writing 40, Intelligence 15, Linguistics 20
Details: Heve didn't have much to offer to the world. He enjoyed words on paper, writing and reading them but outside of that he didn't seem to have much in the way of useful skills. A path in the printing or scribing business wasn't something Heve saw himself do so he decided instead to explore the world a little. He ended up in Scalvoris, enjoying the cold climate there, allowing him to operate almost the entirety of the year, give or take a dozen or so trials during the hot season. Here, he was discovered by a fellow Flame trooper while he was summarizing conversation he heard around himself, keeping track of multiple stories at the same time, accurately writing them down, albeit in a summarized form. While not a hundred percent accurate, he was able to recreate the conversations afterwards, given time. His flame trooper badge was on his uniform not much later. Heve works mostly during interrogations or important court sessions and has handled more delicate conversations than most other troopers of his rank.
