Lighting Some Fires

☠ Cervantez was unsure how to handle this task he had undertaken. On one hand, he was not certain if this....small male could handle his training, as he was somewhat of a pacificist in nature. A man like this is only good for is being a doormat. That wasn't something Cerv could allow to happen, so he felt compelled to help build him up.

On the other hand, Cervantez could help but find his polite and almost submissive demeanor alluring, plus he was a mage and that just made the necromancer's decision easier. That being said he wouldn't let his guard down, keeping his flamming orbs trained on the terrain as they were trekking out into Savannahs.

He looked to Njama who had been carrying two bodies on his back and holding a bag filled with marrow bones. He had an idea of what he wanted to do, or at least try to do as far as the man's training, but he wasn't sure if the man could handle it. He had only met him once, and even then he didnt have a full grasp on his magical capabilities.

Cervantez was not a teacher, and he knew that, but he was good at demonstrating. He would do his best to ensure some good came of this endeavor.
"This trial will not be an easy one i can guarantee you that. But if you survive you will be better off during your stay here in Yaralon. I hope you aren't too delicate for some Lothar training, Yari style?"
he teased, his tone playful and curious.

Once they made it to the spot he had picked for them, secluded and away from most predatorial patrols, he took off his shirt and pants, folding them and placing them to the side. Free of any restrictive clothing the nake Lothar turned to his trainee and suggest he do the same. As the man hopefully followed his direction, Cerv would move to Njama as the other mage undressed.

The necromancer took the bag with the marrows in them and poured them out onto the floor. Animating them he would begin explaining the first task.
"Control. When it comes to any talent, magical or mundane, control more so discipline can be crucial for anyone. For this first part, its all about building your control. These two marrows will be your opponents, I will be commanding their movements, you must try and hit them, but it won't be easy."

The skeletal animations got into position, filled with ether from Cervantez. ☠

If ever there were a time where his mentor condoned the fact he was branching out, it was certainly the moment Trevor mentioned he and a 'colleague' were refining their magic together. The older Defier had some questions sure but he didn't pry too deeply thankfully, permitting Trev with enough trust to go out on his own and explore in that time. What Phelix didn't know however was the fact Trev knew a couple things about this mage, much like the fact he was a necromancer which Phelix would've quickly disapproved then. However the fireborn rather liked something about Cervantez shortly after they'd met, granted their meeting had purely been a bit of circumstance in the beginning.

So in a way this allowed the chance to get to know the man better, since he was easy to look at and appreciate well enough. "My mentor certainly approves of me taking risks, now that it seems Emea has miraculously been restored somehow." The Defier remarked in turn with the question posed at him, although admittedly he didn't feel entirely confident in his own capabilities. It was one thing to conduct the practice of Discipline with the elements, but that wasn't entirely all what this would be about... No this was going to be more of an attempt with refining his control, and harnessing the power of his own natural Kin element. The task already felt monumentally dangerous as is but Cervantez had a plan, an ingenious plan that would allow him to remain entirely focused; without fear of repercussion from his flames no less.

Well... that applied to the terms of burning things rampantly, they were in the middle of nowhere sure enough so fire would not spread easily. But in terms of Trevor's own inner flames? Those remained completely up to him to master at this point, and he wasn't going to waste this opportunity give it a try. Except... The Lotharro before him didn't hesitate to strip at all, showing his bare physique as well as the amazing qualities he possessed. Oh dear. Poor Trevor tried so hard not flush but naturally, the amount of smoke emitted from his head thickened in a white cloud as his cheeks nearly glowed bright red. "You certainly have no shame." He couldn't help but remark as he tried to hide the fact he admired that, as he proceeded to do the same moments before the instruction of control took place.

Indeed this was a lesson based on how well he could control the fires within, and so when Trevor did the same as his newfound mentor; the tattooed mage stood bare as his skin already glistened with sweat from head to toe. He sometimes cursed the fact his body emitted so much heat, more so now that he'd felt himself kinned to the flames within. Yet even if he might've called that inner fire friend, it's chaotic nature still felt like something beyond his control at this point. But only for now... Once the instruction passed and the thralls were beckoned to respond, the Defier looked from Cervantez to his targets with uncertain determination. He'd come all this way after all, why stop now before he'd even gotten started? Thus the Defier made a side step with his bare foot as the ground almost felt respondent, a faint resonance felt between his skin and the dirt beneath him as he fed his Spark with Ether.

He wasn't alone in this... He had Cervantez and his friends with him here... The earth which would protect him, the wind which would empower him, and while no water was at present that too could save him from a total burnout. As the thralls began to make their move, Trevor closed his eyes and brought his arms close to his chest with hands balled. "Here goes..." He softly muttered after deep breath had been taken in, as the open of his eyes resulted with a flash of orange within them. As the Ether he generated surged from his core and through his arms, flames soon erupted at the surface of the skin while he thrusted open palms forward. It didn't do much to project it all but the fire which burned brilliantly from his arms did flurry forward, the fire surface of his skin still emitting them as he tried to gauge the amount of burst he allowed to project.

☠ He couldnt help but chuckle at the mage's compliments, knowing full well that was part of his plan. What better way to train someone's control and discipline than dangle something they couldnt resist. Modesty was for the weak, here in Yaralon, nudity was a proud form of self-expression.

The marrows leaped from the path of the flames, one going left and the other to the right. They were only supposed to be evading and making things difficult for the mage. This was more so about Trevor gaining a little more control over his magic and himself.

He made the skeletons dance about their patterns unpredictable and erratic which would hopefully add to the mage's frustrations. He found that the only way to train something is to put it under stress, in this case, Trevor's discipline, his control would be tested. How long could he go before hitting his limit?

"Battles and situations are not something we can finitely control, so keeping one's own cool, and a level head helps when perfecting control. The nudity and my evading marrows are just examples of things that are out of your control."
he said as he sat down and closed his eyes.

After a few moments, the two marrows seemed to snap into attention, both standing still. They both raised their right hand to their face and looked to each other. Cervantez had linked to both of them, and now, without much more came charging at Trevor. ☠

Trevor reduced the output in which he channeled as the flames lessened in their intensity, with a mixed sensation of delight and terror in knowing what he had just started. Were he just any normal half or full blooded Aukari, the desire to just let the blaze consume would've easily overwhelmed him. But it was thanks to the fact his Defiance Spark allowed him to control, and even befriend, those unyielding flames which persistently churned within his blood. As he noticed the erratic and unpredictable behavior of the thralls however, the Defier quickly bit his lower lip as he tried to contain what aggravation quickly developed. Not only was he unsure about how to control the output of his flames, but he had to try and hit moving targets as they practically taunted his effort. How laughable.

"I have to be smarter about this, if master Phelix were here now he'd be reminding me of things." Things important and key to remember when it came to situations like now, for this was meant to be treated as though he were in real peril rather than just simple training. Emotion would only doom him if he let it consume him, for the fire inside fed on that just as greedily as his Spark did with his Ether. Sure enough Cervantez chipped in with the aspect of control, and how there were obvious factors in which Trevor had little to no control over. For now. "Yes, that's certainly quite obvious." He nervously chuckled with a glance down at the lingering flames burning from his palms. It then struck him that the fire itself... wasn't burning him at all. Sure he felt the intensity of its heat on his skin, but even then no pigmentation blackened or burned in that moment.

If anything the surface of his palms radiated with an intense glow that reminded him of embers, as though both ether and blood pooled near the surface to ignite the moment one touched air. Even now the amount of smoke radiating from his skin still felt thicker, but that mutation remained well out of his own control as it was purely reactive. If anything both were signs of what became increasingly obvious to the Defier, fire was not just the element he embodied but felt Kin with. Sure enough once his new instructor took a seat the thralls decided to behave a little more differently, looking to one another before charging at Trevor with the intention to attack. Or feign an attack. It didn't matter as he remembered just before, this was to be treated as a life or death situation. So in other words he needed not just think, not even just experiment to gain a better sense of control; what he needed to do was use trust his limitations and see how far he could go with them.

Thus the mage stood completely still as both marrows closed in, his eyes briefly shut as he focused on letting his other Spark resonate as well. In the blink of an eye he gazed upon the space in which he wanted to access, and therefore emitted enough Ether to create a fast portal to whisk him out of harm's way. To the naked eye of course this happened in the appearance of black smoke swirling around his figure, and therefore dissipating as sudden as it manifested as he reappeared through ash and faint residual cinders floating around him. With it being such a quick and sudden step for him, Trevor honestly shouldn't have spent too much Ether on that trick; but he did notice the slight toll to be more than he anticipated in his case. Clearly his Rupturing Spark needed more refinement and control as well, but while he had the moment to advance he lashed out with arms pushed forward.

Thus the mage pooled another amount of his reserves all the way to his palms, hopeful to blast at least one of the two marrows to smithereens. The moment the flames at his hands started to rage, he projected what Ether he'd used forward so that the fire might project with a bit more force this time. As risky as the maneuver might've been, it was worth a try to see if he could actually control the output in which his flames would burst.

☠ Lighting Some Fires ☠

☠ As soon as the mage disappeared and reappeared, sending forth the wave of flame, Cervantez immediately cut his link between the two marrows. The bones clattered as they collapsed into a pile of parts on the ground, the flames soaring over them. Cervantez stood, dusting his ass off and moving over to where Njama had been resting.

"I must admit that caught me off guard Trevor, but I can see a slight improvement, so that is good."
he complimented as he pulled out three candles from a pouch on Njama's harness. A smile on his face he looked back at the defier, his flaming orbs dancing around and emitting that eerie blue light of there within the shadows of his face.

Walking to the center of the clearing Cervantez sat down. It was at this time a new figure appeared. Anansye, stepping from around the bend and past Njama came and bowed to both mages, before moving to where Cervantez sat. He took the three candles and placed one on the necromancer, one on each shoulder and the last upon Cervantez's head.

Bowing he went and stood at a distance to where he could reach his master in time if need be, as he was fully aware of what was about to come next in this training.

"That was a warm-up, but now comes a more difficult exercise for you, so I hope you are prepared."
he began
"For this next part you'll have to light these candles, without setting me ablaze. This will help build and strengthen your discipline as it takes great concentration not to allow your flames to hurt someone unintentionally. My understanding of a defier's flame is that their fire is the manifestation of power, consisting of overpowering force tempered by the unflinching will to accomplish tasks and desires."
he said with an amused smile.

"I know this much as my wife is a defier, a damn good one at that the crazy devil."
he chuckled a little, looking at Trevor.
"You and her are two different kinds of defiers and that's what I like about you both. Now come sit, and try and light these candles without burning me to death. I'd hate for you to be the reason all of Yaralon is deprived of this."
He said emphasizing his physique with a hearty laugh, Anansye snickering as well. ☠

Re: Lighting Some Fires

The Pyromancer had been so focused on the flank of the marrows, that he didn't expect them to crumble away once he'd released his flame. Surely this wasn't all part of the exercises that Master Cervantez had planned for him? Part of the Defier expected the creatures to reassemble once more, and rise to attack him the moment he'd let his guard down of course. But that didn't seem to be the case at all, instead another routine was to be introduced now that he'd demonstrated control over power. Thus with a look past his shoulder towards the Necromancer, Trevor paced his breathing to a slow and deep cycle to regulate his control.

Sure enough the attempt aided in the effort to simmer down, for the raging flames that covered his arms slowly died out afterwards; with plumes of smoke puffing out in a large quantity. He could still feel it boiling within... the burning rage of his Aukarian half, almost overpowering now that he'd allowed some of it to vent. Yet the sweltering flow of his blood remained in check, so far, as he came to a turn towards both the man and woman that accompanied them now. So it was only a warm up? Nothing like a bit of cooking with the undead to get the blood flowing right. Admittedly Trevor was pleased that the Necromancer saw improvement already, given the fact he wasn't so confident in himself not long before.

So the next exercise required much more control than before, in fact it required such a certain level of control... that Trevor immediately recognized where he'd fallen short. Lighting a few candles? Manifesting flames in such a focused manner? How the hell was he going to manage that without risk of incinerating anybody? As it stood he already found it difficult to quell the flames within, so the idea he could keep them in check outside when he manifested them sounded a little extreme. Except... Phelix would've likely done the same wouldn't he? It was he who initiated Trevor into Defiance, hopeful that it would lead to the Pyromancer mastering the flames churning inside him. So was it so outlandish to see Cervantez doing this now, and not see that the circumstances would remain the same otherwise?

"Well, you certainly place a lot more faith in me." The pyromancer quickly noted with his hands planted at the hips. "Your wife should be so lucky, to have claim over such a fine specimen such as yourself." Trevor remarked as he approached the man to do as he'd just said; once they were situated and had found themselves comfortable, he then focused not on Cervantez but on the focal points of concentration. He didn't wish to burn the mage in front of him naturally, so all other distractions needed to be ignored from this point on. Were this some easy flick of the hand he would've easily done it already, but alas the Pyromancer quickly felt his blood boil a little more as he focused. Based on outward appearances this seemed easily visible due to him being naked also, as parts of his skin radiated with glowing red spots beneath it; with a largely concentrated area centered at his core.

"Earlier I needed to ascertain the amount I needed to release, this time I must contain how much output I create with the fire instead." A moment to close his eyes and clear his mind followed, his Defiance spark almost eager to act at the impulses felt within his blood. It was downright eerie how the nature of his flames never changed, no matter how much he wanted them too no less. Their chaotic temperance would only be a downfall to him and those around him, unless the Defier found a way to not just manage... but control their voracious will. "I mustn't rely on containment alone, lest the fire proves unyielding and overtakes me." As he thought of this Trevor rested his hands on his legs, palms face up and opened to allow for another channel to flow through.

With an deep intake of air that he shortly held the steady flow of his blood was visible through his arms. Yet when it came to meet at his wrists and pool into his palms, the release of his breath was accompanied with a small poof more flames spurred to life. At first they rose almost as high as his chin, but they rambunctiously dimmed down as quickly as they came to life a moment later. "Good. If I continue to release this amount, then the output should remain in control as I..." He scrunched his eyes more as they were closed tighter suddenly, the center of his chest a bright amber color beneath the skin.

As he tried to quell the raging inferno within he nearly clenched his hands closed, nearly cutting off his output just for the sake of fighting the overwhelming heat alone. It would certainly become hard to miss by now in such close proximity, as Cervantez would feel the heat rise quickly around Trevor as he fought to remain in control. Yet his hands remained opened, and the flames on his palms burned softly in comparison. There wasn't any way the Pyromancer could hope to contain it all though, such focus was currently far beyond his mental fortitude at this point. He needed... He needed to vent. The urge to release his inner fire was getting enormous, pretty soon it'd consume him and before he knew it; flames would gush to burn everything near him. How though? How would he stop? What would Phelix suggest?! He would... He would...

The Defier bit his lower lip hard as he fought hard, so hard, to mentally remain in control of the inferno within him. Until he realized he didn't need to control it all, that he could very well allow for it to vent without risk of harming his companion nearby. "I'm... counting on you." He reminded his Defiance spark as the Pyromancer released his inner flames, allowing them to rise as fire bursted from his back and shoulders. The Necromancer before him would've likely found the need for concern, which was warranted of course, but Trevor remained still and focused as the tension visibly loosened on his face. The flames... simply danced and radiated from where he released them, as the fires in his hands still somehow remained calm and serene like before.

☠ Lighting Some Fires ☠

☠ Cerv was intrigued by this man, more so that it was magic he had seen a few times, even more so on the receiving end of the destruction of it. The ability to call the elements to one's will was fascinating to the necromancer, so this was just as informative for him as it was for Trevor.

The lothar's flaming orbs watched intently as the mage focused on the task at hand. Seeing another's process was enlightening, especially since he only knew how he went about using his own magic. He watched as Trevor called forth the flames, vibrant and powerful only to simmer inot a low burn. It was beautiful to watch another mage at work before his very eyes.

A slight smile formed on his face and he found himself truly admiring the man's dedication to honing his arcane talents. He was glad to be able to assist Trevor in this, he was hoping this budding cooperation would become a solid friendship. Blinking a couple of times he snapped out of his own thoughts and watched as the flames came forth.

Once they were close enough to him he raised his wrapped hand, the demonic one, and swatted the flames away. Anansye quickly came with a bucket of water allowing Cerevantez to dose the flames in it. Looking to Trevor he smiled, as he was certain the man would be confused.

"I've seen enough to be rather honest. Your discipline is getting there, but you'll need extensive practice. That being said I think I've realized something about you."
he began, removing the candles from his body and approaching Trevor. Kneeling he looked the mage in the eyes as he spoke. he placed his left hand on Trevor's chest.

"Your fear is holding you back. You are fearful of letting your inner flames consume you am I correct. You won't be able to control the nature of your magic if you can't control those flames within you. You need to conquer those flames, not let them conquer you."
he noted. The hand that was on his chest trailed up to hold Trevor's chin.
"I have an idea on how to help with that, but you'll have to trust me and my methods."

With a smile and a nod, he walked over to Anansye and the two began conversing for a bit. Them Cervantez returned and sat down next to Trevor.
"Go home and rest, then meet Anansye at this location."
And with that he patted Trevor's shoulder, to which Anansye would come and escort the man back to the safety of the city. ☠

Re: Lighting Some Fires

In those moments where he sought control he noticed something, the difference between his Spark's influence and the immensity of his inner fire. Both were very tangible things he could only hope to fathom, but in regards to how symbiotic they really were? Even now the burning intensity felt overwhelming to the entity, almost as though the nature of his Aukarian side nearly dominated the Spark's very presence. That felt quite abnormal to Trevor, as it meant the wrath of his inner fire could easily overtake both the Spark and Trevor; if neither were able to work together to keep it contained as necessary. But the bucket of water snapped him back to reality, as the Defier jolted to see that Cervantez's arm was doused moments afterwards. Had he lost control? Had his Spark slipped up and kept him from following through?

The flames that churned from the skin of his shoulders and back simmered down, his skin a deep red color as the amber glowing beneath it slowly dimmed. Truthfully releasing that much of fire and Ether hurt him quite a bit, and while the latter could easily be replenished with food and rest; the former would take at least a few days to recuperate from. From what Cerv had to gather he had much to learn yet, although it would seem he was off to a decent start. That aside it also became apparent of his Aukarian side, and the fear in which he felt in regards to fire which rested within his own blood. Yet the hand on his chest... the way it rose to cradle his chin... These were gestures he almost never got to experience, luxuries almost never fit for someone in a situation such as his.

For any provocation of emotion or distraction of control for that matter... accosted him the concentration needed to cage his other side. "Well I suppose I could..." Trevor almost bashfully remarked as he looked to the side afterwards. Trust? Cerv wanted Trevor to trust him, as if he hadn't already gone on a whim in doing just that? Cerv and his follower conversed for another few moments, before he came back to sit down with him. He wanted the Defier to return later with his companion, after the rest of the Trial was spent with rest and perhaps some proper meditation. It didn't help that he found the other mage so damn alluring, with his own brilliant burning eyes gazing back at him. Or was it into him? It would seem Cervantez could so easily read Trevor, whereas others were so quick to misjudge him instead. So far only three people seemed to understand Trevor for who he was now, the first was obviously master Phelix who mentored him. Cervantez being the other from the looks of it, but the third one in question somehow evaded his memory... a curious thing really.

Regardless he nodded to show his understanding, and with a "til we meet again," he redressed and bade Cerv farewell. He was quite curious after all, what the Necromancer had in mind to help Trevor learn better control.
