State of Play & Impact Tracker
Overview & Rules.

Have you just completed a thread which might have an impact on Viden in some way? Maybe it'll change opinions on you, or on places, Immortals, other people. Great! We love to hear about those kinds of threads. If you have a thread which fits the bill, please post below. Then, a Viden Mod will determine the impact and will post it here.

If it is a single thread, post here. If it's a plot or group of threads, please post an overview of the whole plot and all threads involved. Thank you!

Thread Dates:

All threads can go here, regardless of their date. The moderation team will deal with them! Will keep this state of play updatedin a constantly rolling way. When your thread has been dealt with, your post will be deleted.

For those who are new to Viden, or are wondering how the general population react to people, places, etc - well, you can find out here!

When Do I Post Here?
You post in the impact threads if:

1. The thread / story will impact Viden, potentially. There's a question in the code below that says "how will this impact Viden" - if your answer is "it won't" then don't post here. If there is any impact - even potentially - put it in and if needs be one of us'll just say "there's none" on it. Whether it receives renown or not!

2. If you didn't think it did have any impact but, when it's been reviewed, it gets 10 or more renown.

Please remember. We would rather you post here and we modnoted "no impact" on it than you didn't put up something we would have wanted to see.

Think of it as a means of letting us know what's happening on Viden, to inform the calendar next season.

Base question to consider - have you made an impact? If it's on one person or ten, then we'd rather hear about it. We are quite happy to put "No Impact" if it doesn't have any. But we'd hate to miss something that your PC should be known for.

How Does It Impact The Calendar?
1. It impacts the common knowledge/ overview / general attitude in Videntowards people, places, groups, magics, and Immortals.
2. As a PC your reputation can be impacted Positively or Negatively. The impact might be small, medium, or large. You'll be told in the modnote.
3. We use this to feed into the Calendars we write each Cycle.
3. In this "State of Play" a PCs reputation is determined by 2 things.
-- The impact threads listed here.
-- The PC activity (if you do one good thing once, then aren't seen again for 3 cycles - no more impact / reputation)

If in doubt - please ask. We would ALWAYS rather that you submitted a thread and we said "No Impact" than you didn't submit one you could have! Thanks!

  • May not be Licensed until the Mage has lived in Viden for at least a full arc with no criminal convictions.
  • May only be Licensed to those who work in Viden
  • It is a criminal offence to use this magic against any member of the Viden Military or the Higher Classes (nobility, government etc)
  • Using this magic in public, even when Licensed, is always a criminal offense, but if one can prove it was being used defensively in the case of an attack, this is an acceptable defence.
  • May be taught and studied in private (as long as either the Licensing Requirements are met, or the student is given dispensation to learn by a Viden Academy Instructor of at least Head of Faculty rank.)
ImageAttunement
  • May not be Licensed until the Mage has lived in Viden for at least a full arc with no criminal convictions.
  • May only be Licensed to those who work in Viden
  • It is a criminal offence to use this magic against any member of the Viden Military or the Higher Classes (nobility, government etc)
  • Using this magic in public, even when Licensed, is always a criminal offense
  • May be taught and studied in private (as long as either the Licensing Requirements are met, or the student is given dispensation to learn by a Viden Academy Instructor of at least Head of Faculty rank.)

  • May not be Licensed until the Mage has lived in Viden for at least two full arcs with no criminal convictions.
  • May only be Licensed to those who work in Viden
  • It is a criminal offence to use this magic against any member of the Viden Military or the Higher Classes (nobility, government etc)
  • Using this magic in public, even when Licensed, is always a criminal offense.
  • May be taught and studied in private (as long as either the Licensing Requirements are met, or the student is given dispensation to learn by a Viden Academy Instructor of at least Head of Faculty rank.)
  • Using this magic to impersonate / "Become" another mortal /person is absolutely forbidden for always.

  • May not be Licensed until the Mage has lived in Viden for at least a full arc with no criminal convictions.
  • May only be Licensed to those who work in Viden
  • It is a criminal offence to use this magic against any member of the Viden Military or the Higher Classes (nobility, government etc)
  • Using this magic in public, even when Licensed, is always a criminal offense, but if one can prove it was being used defensively in the case of an attack, this is an acceptable defence.
  • May be taught and studied in private (as long as either the Licensing Requirements are met, or the student is given dispensation to learn by a Viden Academy Dean
ImageEmpathy
  • Never available to be Licensed
  • May not be taught or studied in private without a specific dispensation from Government.
  • Registered Empaths are required to identify themselves as such and are required to Paradigm themselves during their time in the Fortress - using the Paradigm bracelets supplied by Viden (the cost of renting these is payable by the visitor)
  • After one arc of living in Viden with no criminal convictions, an Empath may remove the Paradigm bracelets when in the privacy of their home, but the rules regarding Empathy still apply
ImageGraft
  • May not be Licensed until the Mage has lived in Viden for at least a full arc with no criminal convictions OR when one takes a job where it is identified as a requirement (eg: Mage Healer).
  • May only be Licensed to those who work in Viden
  • It is a criminal offence to use this magic against any member of the Viden Military or the Higher Classes (nobility, government etc) without express consent
  • Using this magic in public, even when Licensed, is strictly controlled. In healing situations, it may be used freely, but these must be the designated areas identified on the individual's License.
  • May be taught and studied in private (as long as either a) the Licensing Requirements are met, b) the student is given dispensation to learn by a Viden Academy Instructor of at least Head of Faculty rank or c) the Registered Mage is employed in a Graft-Requiring job).
ImageHone
  • Never available to be Licensed
  • May not be taught or studied in private without a specific dispensation from Government.
  • Registered Hone Mages are required to identify themselves as such and are required to Paradigm themselves during their time in the Fortress - using the Paradigm bracelets supplied by Viden (the cost of renting these is payable by the visitor)
  • After one arc of living in Viden with no criminal convictions, the Hone Mage may remove the Paradigm bracelets when in the privacy of their home, but the rules regarding Hone still apply
ImageNecromancy
  • May not be Licensed until the Mage has lived in Viden for at least a full arc with no criminal convictions.
  • May only be Licensed to those who work in Viden
  • It is a criminal offence to use this magic against any member of the Viden Military or the Higher Classes (nobility, government etc)
  • Using this magic in public, even when Licensed, is always a criminal offense.
  • May be taught and studied in private (as long as either the Licensing Requirements are met, or the student is given dispensation to learn by a Viden Academy Dean

  • Never available to be Licensed
  • May not be taught or studied in private without a specific dispensation from Government.
  • Registered Rupturers are required to identify themselves as such and are required to Paradigm themselves during their time in the Fortress - using the Paradigm bracelets supplied by Viden (the cost of renting these is payable by the visitor)
  • After one arc of living in Viden with no criminal convictions, the Rupturer may remove the Paradigm bracelets when in the privacy of their home, but the rules regarding Rupturing still apply
