15th of Ymiden, The Dip: Something that is largely seen as a children's holiday, The Dip marks the point of Ymiden where most waters within The Eternal Empire get warm enough to swim in. As such, most children are inclined to make use of the warm waters and take the day off from their lessons, apprenticeships, or training and go for a swim. While this is largely a day of fun for children, adults in the empire have grown to see it as a day of rest, giving them a break from teaching while the kids have their fun. Non-Moderated
22nd of Ymiden, Living Improvements in the Hotlands Border Range: The art contest the previous cycle was not a rousing success, and so the Marshal in charge of the Hotlands Border Range continues to seek ways to improve the Hotlands Border Range. This time, focus has shifted to making the region more appealing to live in. The Marshal is accepting any suggestions from those looking to aid in the endeavor. Self-Moderated, claim below
38th of Ymiden, Wild Boars in the Southern Plains: A lot of the pigs that went missing the previous cycle are turning up again, but now they’ve gone completely feral! Farms in the Southern Plains, especially pig farms, are seeing a lot of trouble from wild hogs. The hogs aren’t any more aggressive than normal, but they are causing damage nonetheless. Farmers are requesting aid in corralling the hogs and figuring out what happened to their swine in the first place. Self-Moderated, claim below
42nd of Ymiden, The Founding: According to the histories, the 42nd of Ymiden, Arc 001, that Raskalarn and Karem first took charge of the tribes that would become the first citizens of The Eternal Empire. While the empire didn't receive its name yet, this is considered to be the moment The Eternal Empire was founded. As is only natural, this is a day of celebration within the empire and is marked by music, dancing, and shows of martial skills. No blood is deliberately drawn during these latter demonstrations, though accidents do happen, as these are merely demonstrations of ability, not fully fledged battles. Non-Moderated
53rd of Ymiden, Flooding Damage In the Korlasir Region: Following the flooding of the previous season, many riverside towns have been badly damaged. The Marshal of the Korlasir region is offering a reward for those who are willing to help rebuild the damaged areas, as well as room and board for the duration of their assistance. Self-Moderated, claim below
66th of Ymiden, Food Thefts in Cahryst: Cahyst’s rash of strange thefts have gone unanswered thus far and now they’re expanding. In addition to cooking utensils, they’ve progressed to stealing food! However, finished foodstuffs have not gone missing, and instead, raw ingredients and spices are what are being stolen. The Imperial Army in Cahryst is still accepting help looking into this. Self-Moderated, claim below
73rd of Ymiden, Shade Building: An architect and artists holiday, Shade Building is a response to the upcoming heat of Saun and the Imperial tendency to be nosy about the security of those around them. As a result, many architects and artists, the latter coming from the empire's tradition of fortifications as an art form, build small shelters in open areas in cities or along the side of the road. These shelters are not long term buildings, but they almost always last through Saun and will help travellers or the homeless get out from under the blistering sun for a time. Most of these structures are made of wood or stone to keep them from overheating the way metal does. Non-Moderated
81st of Ymiden, Webspinner Infiltration in Old Dynaash: Following the murder of several elder Ithecal in Old Dynaash last arc, The Imperial Army is investigating the rumor of a Webspinner cult in the region. Particular interest is being placed on Phaerra, the only Ithecal elder not found the previous cycle. The rescued elders are still in the hospital following their torture. Self-Moderated, claim below
Saun 722
Weather
General: It’s very hot and bright throughout the empire as the endless days of Saun sets in. There is little to no rainfall throughout the season and the temperature makes it downright painful to stay outside a shelter for long periods of time.
Exceptions: The Volcanic Mountain Range is active during Saun, and the additional smoke poured out by the volcanoes obscures the sun. It’s not really any colder, but it is less bright than in other regions of the empire.
Dates
6th of Saun, Nomadic Resistance in the Northern Hotlands: The nomadic tribes are growing restless still and are actively refusing to work with Imperial officials. While there is no armed or violent resistance, Imperial officials are being roadblocked at every turn. The Imperial Marshal in the area is actively seeking assistance to break the deadlock with the nomadic tribes. Self-Moderated, claim below
10th-11th of Saun, The Mourning: Though no Immortal has ever given a concrete date, it is believed by Imperial scholars that the destruction of Idalos during the Immortal War took place during Saun. This belief is held due to Faldrun's pride and malice, his role in starting the Immortal War, and his connection with Saun. The Mourning is held to remember the world that was lost due to the blindness of the Immortal War, and is held during the exact middle of the arc. The Mourning is a two day fast for all who aren't medically incapable of doing so, and unless attacked, no battle is done on the days of The Mourning. Non-Moderated
16th of Saun, Fire Prevention in the Sacred Forest: Saun is always a risky time for the Sacred Forest, so Imperial officials in the Sacred Forest are looking to prevent any unnecessary fires in the region. The biggest risks are trees on the edge of the forest, away from the water sources that are so prevalent in the interior. Any assistance is appreciated. Self-Moderated, claim below
25th of Saun, Take A Break Day: One of the very holidays officially mandated by The Empress, Take A Break Day is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: A day on which everyone in the empire is to take a break. Raskalarn, recognizing the imperial tendency towards stubbornness and how dangerous it could be to overwork oneself during Saun, officially declared Take A Break Day as an imperial mandated holiday, during which no citizen of the empire is to do business unless it is vitally important to save lives. Non-Moderated
31st of Saun, Recruitment in the Winter Reach: The Imperial Navy has its main base in the Winter Reach, and as they are one of the weakest branches of the Imperial Army at the moment, they are looking to bolster their strength. To that end, the Imperial Navy is doing a major recruiting drive in Winter Reach. Self-Moderated, claim below
37th of Saun, Patience Day: A holiday held towards the end of Saun, Patience Day is meant to celebrate the coming end of the hottest time of the arc, as people look forward to the return of night and its cooler temperatures that Vhalar symbolizes. Patience Day celebrations tend to be quiet, as people are usually worn from the endless days of Saun, but there usually a good offering of foodstuffs to be had. This is generally ambitious culinarians attempt to make cooling foods to see the empire through the final few days of Saun. Non-Moderated
40th of Saun, Shadows Under The Palace Strange shadow creatures have been spotted under the Imperial Palace in Korlasir. They aren’t aggressive and have caused no harm, but they have managed to attract the Empress’s curiosity. Owing to the open nature of the Imperial Palace, Raskalarn is not concerned about people finding secrets, and so she’s allowing those who would like to study these shadow creatures free roam of the catacombs where they’re appearing.
