The trial had been total chaos. There was no other way to describe it. Scalvorans ran back and forth, some dodging shadows, some trying to find them to fight. In the beginning, there was no organized response. The Pirate Lords and the Navy stationed there was taking time to prepare resistance, and it left the citizens in peril. But the trial had come for them to gather and push back the shadows. The time had come to fight.
Many of the Lords were in or around Scalvoris, and they joined in the city to convene on a plan. Fourteen of the Lords demanded martial law, imposing on the city every restriction until they figured out what the creatures were. The other six didn't give a damn about the law. They wanted to drive the shadows back to whatever hole they'd crawled out of. They all agreed that they needed to get off their asses and get moving. And so they split up. Half of the Lords stayed in Scalvoris and the waters directly around it, while the other ten sailed around the frozen island and offered as much aid as they could.
As the defenses in Scalvoris were mounted, teams of three were formed to help combat the shadows. Ten of the Lords gathered all those willing to help in the city, and began dividing them into team of three, trying to group up those with complementing skills based on their admissions. It was tedious and long, but necessary. Each team would be given a purpose, and then sent off to do their jobs to defend the city.

OOC NOTE
Alright, you three. This opening post will likely be the only one where stuff isn't happening. Feel free to take your time in your first posts to settle into the setting, then expect action and adventure.
I'm going to ask that you take no longer than 3 days to respond. If you KNOW you'll take longer, PM me and we'll work something out. Other than that, let's get started. I've intentionally left the 10 Lords blank, because I'm going to come up with some ideas for each team, and then place you guys how I see fit.
Good luck, and happy writing.

There wasn't much time to rest, upon reaching Scalvoris. The escape from Gunvorton left Eir somewhat disoriented. The horse and wagon made sure that he had escaped the wrath of the shadow beasts, but there was little time for the Yaralon wayfarer to get his bearings. The sight of the city as it prepares for battle was the first thing that greeted him, with the sound of rushed arms presented to defend the gates. But everything turned out for the better; as both Mer and Human were granted entry. Yet, Eir could only afford so little time spent resting. Fatigue weighed him down, adrenaline left his body as he got himself set proper. The wagon was to be his temporary bed, the horse his current companion as he seeks a few hours of slumber.
Eir's eyes drift closed, with the occasional urge to peep them open for one last time. But sleep soon over takes the vagrant, allowing him some time to rest for the ensuing battle. The team still needed time to gather, with Nixie and Amphitrite needing to make preparations on their own ends. But Eir on the other hand, required some much needed rest. His mind wandered through several parts of his life, causing his body to shift unconsciously against his will. The wagon shuffles at his turning weight, the Yaralon Longsword's hilt gripped firmly in hand. A presence stirred him awake, as if something was watching him in his dreams, gazing from afar as the entity creeps closer, and closer. Sweat drizzled down Eir's face as he proceeds to break out into cold sweat. Before his nerves get the better of him, a hand reaching out to touch at his shoulder, prompting the vagrant to sit up and pull his longsword.
Before Eir could flash the steel towards any face, there was no one around, not a single soul there within reach. Complete silence fell over, his sword arm shaky, his breath ragged from the sudden tension created by his own paranoia. Perhaps, something was there, watching him in his dreams and within his sleep. But for now, Eir sheathes his sword, glancing up towards the skies before jumping out of the wagon. "They should be there soon." Eir remarks to no one but himself, glancing around his surroundings before emerging from the alleyway, assured that the horse would be perfectly fine with the wagon. Eir hurries off to meet the Mer by the docks, were they were, most likely, awaiting his arrival. With his sword fastened securely to his hip and his winter clothes fit snug against him, Eir hurried out, refusing to waste a single second further recovering what of his stamina that he could.
