New Forum Section - The Character Clinic

I have seen several people make their character die in thread and then announce it in the absence thread.

We could reserve the absence thread for temporary absences and make a new separate forum section named The Character Clinic (or similar) where people can post when they are starting to feel unhappy about their characters for some reason or another.

There could be a subsection named The Character Hospital, for threads about "character maladies" like Concept issues and Depressive storyline or Lost connection and other character related troubles. This could be where people can feel free to post in order to try to get discussion and help from the community when it feels like the character has "wrecked". I think people could benefit from getting to discuss a bit without commitments. It can be hard to go on the LFC and look for others if the concept or storyline feels wobbly. The "hospital" could be a place where it's possible to express troubles with the PC and get viewpoints and OOC discussion in a relaxed way, without anybody needing to feel committed to a whole lot of things.

There could also be a subsection named The Character Cemetary, where people can write a memory post about those characters they didn't find it enough to just retire, but felt they wanted to kill in thread in order to make room for something new. This would be only be for writing about characters and what you learnt by writing them. It's definitely not meant as a place for "final words" from OOC players who leave the website.

Also, The Character Clinic doesn't need to be grimdark. There could be a subsection name The Newborn Department, where people can write short outlines of character ideas (Max five sentences) and gauge the communities interest before they make a whole CS. I think of it as a place for pure brainstorm, where ideas can be shared.

Sel'ma! :D

I feel so bad.
I have been meaning and meaning and meaning to say welcome back.
I keep getting distracted, or am on the wrong alt, and want to switch over before I say hello.

Then I forget again....ugh.....

I think this is a first-rate idea!

Seconded! I definitely need a Character Clinic in my life... half the time I have no idea what I am doing, and then I end up lost. We could even put the threads like matchmaking into this forum...

Hope the TLs agree to it! But I wanted to voice my support of the idea anyways :D

Not sure if I'm supposed to answer here, but I want to thank the three of you for finding the idea worth considering.

Linika...yes, long time no see...hello and a smile :)

I'm going to leave this thread here. I will perhaps post some clips in the Fun&Games instead.

"Sel'ma".

I this this is a splendid idea. Often, my best character traits came from suggestions from other people. I definitely am cool with this.

It looks really good Noms . Thanks for making it and nice to see it in place!

I’m also thinking that there’s a thread in the games and fun section that could be moved to the character workshop and become the first thread there: Djinn’s Mortalborn Workshop It’s a fun and positive thread and it could be a good start.

No problem, thank you for bringing it up!

I asked Djinn, and the thread's been shuffled over to the Character Workshop. :)
