So what was a merc bro and his cohort to do after a day of cheeky hijinks and no good shenanigans? To the duo it was just another day of flaunting there tabards and shaking there tail feathers looking impossibly good while throwing down the mighty fist of the law on ner do wells to make Ganguis crew shine in fosters landing. Wasnt that the whole point? Get in good with a contractor, learn the tricks of the trade and then use what he learned to turn around and build his own mercenary conglomerate a one stop shop for steel and badassary.
Woot littering in the streets? Boom boot in the groin, talking back to the law? Boot to groin. Criminals hassling folks ? If you guessed a kick in the family jewels than you thought correct. They dynamic low town duo were here to clean up the streets, one low kick at a time. Supressing violence with even more violence, its what they did and they did it magnificently as they upheld there mercenary gold standard of excellence. Maybe they'd be in line for a promotion, or employee of the month they certainly were serving up a heaping portion of justice on there daily grind.
Vorval was ready to settle down and eat something or get a quick drink and call it quits for the day, but he had maybe a gold nel to break for something special. It wasnt a shit ton of money but it ought to get them somewhere, so they headed down the streets with a capricious flare that was suspiciously flamboyant as they held there noses high like they were pompous nobles trying to hold back some laughter over there childish bullshit as they threw there weight around.
The fuck did they care, they were the law and there tabards may as well have been bronze deputy stars that said we are better than you. Who needs the booze, they were drunk on there thimble full of power and loving everything that came with it as they terrorized criminals and low life scum with there chipper upbeat ass whoopings that made light hearted fun out of business made personal.
And then it came that one moment you just catch a whiff of the tail end of a deliciousness that caused Vorval stop in his tracks and fixate on the tavern. It was coming from that seaside joint, over yonder what was its name again? Oh yea the Trove he thought as he snapped his steel clad fingers.
Vorval was decked out in pimpin plate armor, while Luwellyn was drenched in thick chainmail, she had a combat spear and Vorval had his gladius and shield. Of course Vorval blamed politics for the mishap with his promised gear and provisions he felt sort of naked as Luwellyn was wearing his glorified undergarments something about steel pajamas it just wasnt right without his jam jams, but no matter his attention fixated on getting to the front door. Till a couple of treasure hunters came stumbling out the bar like a couple of drunk turkeys and barreled through the ex blade brother and his squire as the adventurers hobbled on there way carrying eachother in song and spirits as they were so intoxicated they were relying on each other to stand and get around with there unbalanced sways and dips.
He was going to waltze in however there was a problem, something didnt feel right when two guys came busting out the pub. Something caught Vorvals attention, a gold hoop earing that flashed its sassy jazz in the right light. Vorvals thought process was instantaneous and no it was not the old addage the bigger the hoop the bigger the hoe oh no indeed it was a pirate or a thief pretending to be a pirate hoop earings bandanas sabers the only thing missing was a peg leg and a hook hand and a bird squawking paulie wants a cracker. Whether it was the real McCoy or a scoundrel, there was two of them no less so there was an element of danger involved. Was it profiling? Maybe, but if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck then chances are it must be a duck.
These were dark days indeed as choices needed to be made did he go for the drink and hot meal or would he go that extra mile under Ganguis employment to oversee the drunkards to safety , and ol Vorval knew nothing would piss there boss Gangui off more then having him realize they allowed a mugging on there watch while they got trashed at the bar. That sounded like a real good way to catch a demotion or worse yet a pay cut he could handle a verbal lashing but not his precious nels no fucking way hed let that happen touch his pay and that's that game over man no second chances, contract null and void.
With a heavy heart he sighed and took a step back from the bar door and motioned to Luwellyn to follow suit as they followed the unscrupulous looking men and tailed them from afar being vigilint to stay on there tail so they could apprehend the buccaneers the moment shit got real.
