Laughing Dog, while laughing, also set to work following Wald's commands and instruction. The Windrunner was steered hard by Enrick, and the Mer were thrown about bodily. The net caught two, two more had their feet ripped off by Laughing Dog, and the rest were taken down by Wald's arrows. On the deck of the ship were Mer bodies and Mer blood aplenty. The immediate threat was over.

The Windrunner was speeding toward Rabu. Really fast. And on a direct collision course with the sinking mortalborn. And it seemed too late to stop for the competent sailor. And so, the ship reached Rabu. And Rabu disappeared into the hull as though he were a ghost. One last protection from Bubbles, before it popped. Rabu would find himself below deck in the ship, a small crystalline bubble next to him, glowing and emanating power of his friend.

Meanwhile, it seemed that Windrunner was acting on the intent of those on board, especially with Rabu returned. The ship changed direction and steered itself toward the beast's mouth. The creature was tired and injured, and snapped at the ship. It opened its maw once more to bite, and the ship sailed right down its gullet. It was a long journey down the snake like neck, and the Windrunner itself was lighting the way, letting them see the insides of the creature as they went. Soon, they splashed down into the stomach. And they were there, without wind or current to move Windrunner. Dead in the water. Or rather, acid, that began to slowly eat at the hull.

There were fleshy mounds, islands, every so often around this stomach. It was low on liquid it seemed, and there were some bones scattered about, some pieces of ships. The creature was moving sluggishly, and blood could be seen seeping along the walls of the stomach, dripping down into the acid. But on the far side of the stomach was a large, wooden door, with a metal knocker the shape of the creature's head hanging in the center of it, and no obvious door handles.

The Door of Spirits has been found.

If the knocker was knocked, the door would open, and Number None would be standing there with a greeting, "Welcome, do come in. I hope you're here to help."

Enrick's intention had been to try and catch Rabu before he sank further below the mast or deck, however much to his dismay that been the exact opposite as the ship zoomed right towards the little bunny. The captain couldn't help but cringe as he expected to hear something related to a tiny thump, all thanks to a lack of consideration on his part in trying to save a companion. Yet nothing? The Windrunner started to slow down on it's own now and it was enough for Enrick to let go of the wheel, as it had apparently responded to the will of all three present. Imagine his surprise when the sloop had begun to turn on it's own, without him even needing to work the wheel.

Enrick had wandered the deck near Wald and Laughing Dog when they seemed to be faced towards the sea beast, and in that moment the sailor heard the sounds of wailing beneath the deck. Was that in the cargo hold? Silver hues focused on the door as he knelt down to lift it open, with a surprise waiting for him inside as Rabu appeared to be holding close a crystalline orb. Was that... the spirit that carried him? Had it sacrificed itself just to guarantee safe passage aboard once more? The blackened hues turned cerulean now that he looked upon the disheartened creature, and while the surface might've been rough Enrick did his best to gently scoop both into his palms.

"It's alright," he tried to comfort the bunny as he brought both up to rest on his shoulder, "it'll be alright lil' guy." Sure enough the setting darkened except for the lighting that the Windrunner exuded, as all Enrick could see next was that they'd entered the jaws of the beast; and travelled deeper within until they were inside it's gut. The ship continued to descend until finally it rested inside a spot Enrick never would've wanted to see, certainly not with his ship since he had just now got it back. The cerulean quickly turned to a coppery bronze as he looked all around, and the burning smell of the beast's belly filled his nostrils. Almost forgetting that Rabu now rode on his shoulder the captain rose to move back towards the wheel, his hand gripped on one of the peg as his irides deepened to a sapphire hue.

"Not yet...." He thought towards the ship as he knew where this would lead, now that they were no longer a part of the sea at this point. "Oi just got y' back...." Yet somehow even if he felt it hard to let go, deep down he felt what the Windrunner wanted. This would be their last goodbye then, the last memory they'd have together before he returned to the world outside. "Tanks." He finally murmured in which Rabu would've heard, after the moment of profound appreciation had passed Enrick looked around to see where to next. It was dark but not so much that they couldn't see, yet it wouldn't be long depending on how much time it took for the Windrunner to be dissolved by the acid.

Looking around Enrick could see islands of flesh they could traverse, maybe even broken remnants of ships larger than the Windrunner; hell even the bones could be used to cross into areas. The goal at the end though appeared to be a door, at the other side of where they had landed. So they were to find a way to cross over, and reach the door so that they might get through. "Oi hope y' got a few ideas or suggestion on how t' reach dat," Enrick said to Wald as he looked to the hunter with turquoise eyes, "cause Oi don't plan t' stay 'ere and rot away wit' de ship. Since she gave everythin' t' get us 'ere, it'd be a waste t' give up now." Least that's how he certainly felt about the situation.

Re: The Door of Spirits

Wald was finally catching his breath, as with every arrow fired he held it, and even when he was not firing, he was shouting orders. The ship was swinging around for the little one. He expected to try and catch the little one, but he fell through the ship as if turned to a spirit. Wald was quite confused at what just unfolded in front of him. Adding to the confusion the ship was moving, and the captain of the ship had walked next to him.

The ship began to move on its own, as small crying started from under the deck. Wald watched as Enrick ran off to gather what was under the deck. It was the small companion they had. Though before Enrick could finish, the ship was heading straight for the maw of the Sea beast. Wald held onto the mast, as to keep the maw from closing on him. Though the ship was being swallowed whole, this was not a situation Wald wanted to be in. While the ship slid down the throat of the beast, Wald began to try and focus once again. Trying to reach Ylfa, and in turn Karem. Though the effort was for not, as it was nothing but silence. He had been somehow cut from his connection to his spirit companion. In turn, he checked his teeth, the two sets of fangs were still there, so he was still marked by the immortal. Something was causing interference.

The boat crashed down in the gut of the animal, that is when Enrick left for the wheel. He was trying once more to spur the ship forward. Wald began to study his surroundings, this was no doubt the largest stomach he had ever seen. Though it was also the first he had been inside. It seemed as though the stomach line was harmed by Mer That the animal may have swallowed before. As the stomach was bleeding, if it were to fill with acid now, the stomach would rupture. Wald traced what he new about the shape of the animal, and found about where the only other exit would be, beside the door.

That is when soft sobbing came from behind Wald. It was Rabu on Enrick's shoulder. Enrick decided to speak up. "Oi hope y' got a few ideas or suggestion on how t' reach dat, cause Oi don't plan t' stay 'ere and rot away wit' de ship. Since she gave everythin' t' get us 'ere, it'd be a waste t' give up now." This was directed to Wald.

Wald thought about what he had for a while, slowly he had a few ideas come up. Though thinking calmly was slightly harder, with Rabu being upset. Wald looked around again, the bubble was missing. "Do you not know of spirits?" This was directed towards both of the companions. "After large amounts of physical damage, or fatigue they loss their physical form to rest. The bubble is just resting, there is no need to be upset." Wald hoped this would comfort the little Rabu, who may have not lost a friend before. Though Wald's experience with spirits came from Ylfa, who he could not contact. That was a question for later, now he needed to get to the door.

Wald walked off for a moment, looking over the acid. He saw mounds of flesh large enough for Wald or Enrick to sit on. That could be what he was looking for. "Enrick, you know how to drive the boat, Can you fish as well, I need one of those large bones." Wald said this, as he gathered the smaller ropes from the ship. Binding them to a couple arrows. He then pointed to the door and spoke to Laughing dog. "Can you go there, I will need you to hold something for me."

Re: The Door of Spirits

It had seemed Wald knew more about Spirits than Enrick gave him credit for earlier, as he stated Spirits don't outright die but fall into a state of rest. That meant the crystalline object Rabu now possessed, had to be his friend had to be the Spirit of Bubbles in it's dormant state. It made sense in a way and truthfully, Enrick wondered if the same applied to his familiar. But now wasn't the time to dwell on that for Enrick, the information alone served purpose in reassuring their companion. Maybe now Rabu felt a little better and wouldn't weep as much, since they still had to focus on getting out of here.

Which seemed to be where Wald started to put thought to creativity, as he soon began to ask Enrick about his ship after some consideration. "Aye," He nodded firmly, "sailin's in m' blood. Fishin's the only ting dat's helped earn me a livin'." But what Wald wanted wasn't fish, instead just the application of it to haul some skeletal remains out of the belly acid. The idea seemed farfetched already since Enrick didn't have much of his actual gear, and what tools he did have left on the ship were for actual marine creatures... not bones. Though... if done correctly then he could use a fishing net to haul one in, granted the acid didn't eat away at the net before he accomplished such a feet.

"Worth a try, but dat net's not gonna last fer long." He remarked as he looked over the starboard rail, his first choice of a spot to land safe and easy.

"Soak the net in tar, it'll break down slower that way." Wald instructed in turn as Enrick moved to grab the net that rested on the deck. It was all so strange for Enrick honestly, here was now in the belly of some great beast trying to find a way out. If anything his journey had been nothing short of outstanding and it'd only just started, after surviving a maelstrom and being swallowed by this large sea creature; the sailor wasn't sure if his story would be anymore believable if he ever returned to Desnind.

With the net hanging over his other shoulder Enrick moved back towards the starboard, already with the idea on where exactly he'd find tar for the net. "Hold on tight lil' guy." He told Rabu in case he still rode on Enrick's right shoulder, just before he vaulted over the rail and down onto the mound of flesh below. When he felt the squishy wet muscle beneath the soles of his boots tremble from the impact, Enrick couldn't help but groan in disgust as he tried to keep his footing. It almost felt slippery to walk on and now that he stood even closer, the pungent smell of the acid nearly sickened him to his stomach. Quickly he turned to face the starboard where the black spot had grown, where a couple of the planks seemed able to be pulled off with enough force.

Enrick had to be careful where he put the net down before trying, and when he looked back to Rabu again to make sure the Tunawa knew; he then proceeded to grip the gap in the planks with both hands. Already he felt the black tar from those eels cover his fingers when he reached inside, and once he started to pull his arms away from his chest; both planks started to groan and creak before a snap finally occurred. The little black slimy eels he never really got to see the first time all slipped out then, and within their little den was an alcove full of black tar inside the wood. Enrick quickly leaned down to pick back up the net, and bundle it together in a ball so that he could fit it inside. He then rotated it several times so that he could soak every inch possible, until the net appeared fully black and covered with the substance.

Next came the hard part...

When he looked for the pile of nearest bones he could try and harvest, the closet one seemed to be another mound away. While his eyes were a mix between copper and turquoise, Enrick moved to the edge of his island to step over the shallow pool of acid. The big guy about slipped in the process due to the extra amount of caution, but needless to say he made relatively safe transition over with both net and Rabu intact. "Okay..." He murmured to himself with a sigh, as he looked at the rib cage of whatever the hell had died nearby. The remains were several feet away so he couldn't just outright drop the net and expect to haul, therefore he needed to give it a good throw if he expected to actually catch it. Enrick gripped the corner of the net where the rope fed him some line, and with a gyration of his wrist he started to rotate the net into a spin for momentum.

After about eight to ten turns he then threw the net out as high as he could, allowing gravity to take its effect as the net plummeted forward into the acid. The net managed to tangle but well enough, caught a portion of the rib cage in it's landing into the acid. Enrick exhaled another sigh as he almost couldn't believe his shitty luck, the net then reeled in with his hands as he pulled in the line to bring it back in. Come the moment where the remains snagged they too started to budge, but only a little as they seemed far too heavy to drag with the net. "C'mon y' lil' fekker!" He swore through his teeth as he scowled and grunted, with a bit more force put into pulling the remains as he tried to keep his feet from slipping about.

Sure enough a reaction occurred.

The remains seemed to snap as the net suddenly jerked loose, and Enrick feared that might not have hauled anything at all. Thankfully when he finished hauling in the net, a couple of tips from the rib cage still remained caught inside. The fisherman grabbed a portion of the net to try and free them, until he felt the surface of his palms suddenly burn from the action. He didn't realize it but some of the net had already started to dissolve, and after he quickly wiped his hands across his pants; he then resorted to using his boots to kick it the rest of the way. After a bit or two of letting it sit he finally proceeded to reach once more, and work the bones through the holes of the net. With them held firm enough to remain secure in his hands, Enrick ignored the faint residual burning and hurried back towards the ship.

When he reached the starboard side, he hollered up to Wald with bones held up for display. "Oy! Dis'll 'ave t' work!" He remarked as he offered to toss them up, in which he waited on Wald to agree before he finally underhanded them up towards the man.

Re: The Door of Spirits

Wald got to work on his plan, as Laughing dog and Enrick started to do as he asked. With a easy motion with his thumb, Wald snapped the tip of one of his arrows off. There was no need to harm the beast more if he made a mistake with the simple part. Enrick was talking about the net melting. Wald thought for a moment and came with a conclusion. "Soak the net in tar, it'll break down slower that way" With a rope tied to the arrow, he notched it on his bow, waiting for Laughing dog. "I need you to hold this rope as high as you can, Laughing dog." Wald fired the arrow, it hit onto the door on the other side, as Laughing dog caught it. Taking the other end of the rope, Wald tied it to the boat. This would keep the rope out of the acid, and keep it tight for gripping. All Laughing dog had to do was keep his mouth closed.

With a second arrow with a rope tied on, Wald looked for the large chunks of meat. Taking aim at one, he fired the arrow into the meat, pulling the rope quickly. Bringing the meat against the boat, so they would not have to try and jump for it. He then did the same for the next piece. He had two large chunks of flesh floating next to the boat. This was preparation complete for the exit plan. At that moment he heard Enrick speak up. "Oy! Dis'll 'ave t' work!" Wald looked back and saw some ribs that Enrick had caught. And nodded as he caught the bones.

Wald moved off the boat, and onto one of the mounds of flesh. "Follow my lead, and do not pull hard on the rope. Just enough to move forward." Wald began to use the rope to move through the acid, with his flesh boat. The bones that were gathered, Wald used to prob ahead of them. As the acid was not clear so it could hold untold dangers. One of which was felt half way down the rope. The acid got very shallow in that spot, so he had to move to the other side of the rope to avoid getting stranded. Though the flesh boats made it across.

After getting off, Wald pet Laughing dog. "Good work. It would of been a lot harder without you." That would be a understatement. Without Laughing dog holding the rope, there would of been no way to secure the guide rope, as an arrow would of slipped out. Now that the group was at the door, Wald was still curious about how it was here. Though, something told him to knock on the door way. Wald knocked on the door with the metal heads.

The doors opened and someone greeted them. The words fell deaf on Wald's ears, as he saw the stone walls of a building. His body froze for a moment in fear. He took a step back from the opening, his wolven brown eyes open wide. His body shaking as if terrified of a giant predator. His breathing went fast, he did not think the door would lead to a city of any kind, and he had no clue if it was in fact one. Which added to the abstract terror of the situation. His eyes were not laid on the figure, which may be odd to anyone who did not know of Wald's condition, but they were fixed on the stone working.

Re: The Door of Spirits

Everything was a haze, like remembering a dream Rabu had just woken from. Rabu was in a sinking bubble with a large sea house rocketing towards him, death was assured. Yet, he found himself in a room with wooden walls that smelled of salt and fish. The Tunawa was alive some how, was it all just a bad dream? He motioned to pick himself of the ground when his hand bumped into something strange. It was a blue stone with a weak glow emanating it. His heart sank when he sensed his new friend bubbles in the stone and his eyes flooded with golden sap as he embraced it. Rabu didn’t want to move, he just laid on the cold ground clutching the stone and sobbing.

Heavy boots could be heard beating down on the creaky wooden steps but Rabu continued to cry. It wasn’t until Enrick appeared in front of him with a southing voice that Rabu began to move. Enrick picked him up like a child and lifted him towards his shoulder. Rabu was larger than the average tunawa, but still small enough that he was able to find a comfortable spot on Enrick’s shoulder. He rested a hand on the back of the mans head for stability as they made there way to the ships deck.

There was no way Rabu could have anticipated what he saw next. Bloody corpses of fish people littered the deck floor and the sky itself seemed to cry rivers of crimson. Instead of a blanket of cerulean there was now pulsating flesh as far as the eye could see. Rabu’s nose was assaulted with smells of decay and he nearly choked on the dense air. The atmosphere was not helping his state of melancholy, in the slightest.

Enrick stoped at the wheel of his Sea house and held on to it for a moment like he was hugging an old friend. Rabu heard Enrick say thank you under his breath and after putting two and two together, rubbed the back of Enrick’s head in sympathy. “It Alright..It be alright big guy.” Rabu repeated softly.

The two met up with Wald and assessed the situation they were in. There mission was to find the door and they could all see it in the distance, So close and yet so far. However before Wald could share his plan, he put Rabu’s grief to rest by telling him that Bubbles was only resting, not gone at all. A joyful smile spread across rabu’s face and he wiped the tears from his eyes. “Dank you Wald, You give warmth to deh heart.”

The Tunawa was out of his element, most of his kind were agile tree climbers but Rabu grew up in a borrow and avoided the tree tops. He wanted to contribute but couldn’t think of anything other than just jumping and hoping for the best, an option that terrified him quite a bit. As Enrick went to work on his plan, Rabu watched intently. It kept him from worrying about the impeding danger and absolutely had to take note of how a real adventurer gets the job done. When the tension grew in intensity, Rabu closed his eyes and silently prayed to Moseke for protection.

“You have deh strength of Ox.” Rabu exclaimed as Enrick pulled the large debris with his net closer to the group.

“Good spirit puppy.” Rabu smiled at Laughing Dog as the group made their way to the door.

“We Alive.” Rabu cheered as they finally arrived at the door. He remained on Enrick’s back as they entered the door.

One of Rabu's Mortal Born abilities involves emean creatures called Dooglewogs doing pranks and causing misfortune for the Rabu. I roll a dice every time Rabu uses his other powers and whatever it lands on will happen in the thread he's in.
If a Grader or Mod wishes to add a misfortune as a reward that would be wonderful but please be sure that it's only temporary and isn't too disruptive or disturbing (I'm mostly going with light and silly) look on my character sheet for examples.

Re: The Door of Spirits

Enrick nodded to Wald at the instruction to follow his lead with the ropes and whatnot, with a brief look of admiration with the hunter's handiwork at best. Though it wasn't anything as great building a bridge or something to gap, a ferry across the acid atop the mounds of flesh still seemed rather plausible. Sure enough when they pulled themselves across, it wasn't long before they finally reached the otherside where the door awaited them. Wald and Rabu encouraged Laughing Dog's help and Enrick watched the two with a faint smile, and a glance shot back to the sight of the Windrunner as he'd be leaving it behind. For good. But it was as Rabu said earlier, it'll be alright now that they made it this far and he felt thankful for it.

Then came the moment where they were greeted by something, an entity that had apparently awaited their arrival. Yet when he beckoned for them to enter, Wald seemed to suddenly tense up. Rabu still rode on his shoulder so Enrick knew the little creature would go with him, but it appeared that their other companion would have rathered stayed behind. Why? Enrick sighed and turned to grip the Lotharro by his shoulder, a small nudge given to help grab his attention when the sailor spoke. "Oy! Snap out o' it mate! We're literally 'bout t' walk outta here, now all o' a sudden y' wanna stay inside the belly o' a beast?" There had to be some deep seated fear or reason as to suddenly Wald had been set off, but whatever it was Enrick failed to notice it as he looked straight at the man with cyan hues in his eyes.

"Trust me, whatever's on de other side o' dis door isn't as bad as stayin' 'ere." He assured the man once more with a look down at Laughing Dog. "Ask him, he'll probably say de same." Sure enough he left it at that and pressed forward, ready to put the sight of his forsaken ship behind him. Strange... For what seemed like an unusual dream before, now seemed like a surreal reality he wanted to forget. Enrick really did love that ship even if were small, as it had played the most important role in his life over the Arcs he owned the damned thing. Yet now he would've rather left it to rot here, instead of finding a way to get it out like he would've rather done.

Then again he knew the stubborn reality of the situation, whatever forces made things work here couldn't do anything; and therefore this time his ship was truly gone. So it felt easier to just accept it rather than try and fight, and do so knowing that he would only fail in the end. The sailor stepped on through the door with relative ease in mind, a glance given to Rabu as he yet again gave a soft form of a smile to the creature on his shoulder. They'd pull through one way or another, and while he would've liked Wald to accompany them too; the choice ultimately fell to the hunter once they entered the room beyond.
