osan had been looking for Fridgar, his mate, his lover, his protector, and friend. The Protean hadn't been home is some time, and the viper was beginning to worry about him. Part of him thought that Fridgar had abandoned him....for Alistair. He thought somehow the two may have rekindled the old flame they had. But the other part of him held out hope his mate was alive and well.Dosan decided to visit one of the local taverns on Kephallonia to see if maybe someone knew anything about Frid's whereabouts. He walked into the establishment, dressed in the new attire he had made from a tailor Zarik mentioned in Koros. It was nice and made him feel safe, at home, you could say. Looking about he could see the eyes glaring into him, but knew he had enough skill to deter anyone who thought they would try him.
Taking a seat in the corner of the bar, the old Lair crawler in him kicked, in. He began surveying the place, watching patrons as they drank, noting who the more frequent guest where. He also took into account the volume of bodies in the room and the general demographic of the place. Humans seemed to be the higher population in this place, save for a few Ithecal and a nice amount of Lothar too.
He figured if anyone would know about Frid, maybe the other Lothar would. Moving seamlessly through the crowd of people he found himself near a group of men, mostly human with a few Lothar in the mix. He was listening for an opening to the conversation, a way to insert himself without coming off as being intrusive. As he listened the conversation piqued his interest far more than finding info on his mate.
"Did you hear, it struck again. This damn beast is going to be the end of us. We need to do something about it, and fast." one man said, to which a Lothar with an eye patch shook his head.
"The Lyrosaur is no easy beast to kill, you know as much as I do about its legends. Besides, we don't have the manpower to spare in order to kill the beast." he explained, and the human male spoke again.
"So you just expect us to sit idly until this thing comes down and eats us? For a Lothar that sounds like some weak horseshit to me!" he exclaimed, slamming a fist on the table. The Lothar simply looked at him with his good, before narrowing it.
"You know damn well that's not what I mean, but there's no point in throwing good men and woman lives away. We need to go about this more carefully. A beast like the Lyrosaur is not one we can just go in half-cocked against. You want to die as lizard chow, then you can go on by yourself, but I won't let you drag others down in this vain attempt at glory." the Lothar snapped back.
To say that the conversation got Dosan's interest was an understatement. The predator in him couldnt help the urge to want and hunt this creature down, to dominate it and make it apart of his totemic family. He had to find out more about this creature, and without even thinking he inserted himself at the table.
"I could kill it for you, but i would need a little more information first."
he proposed, to which they all looked at him. The looks of these men said it all. Dosan was not a native, he didnt seem like he could take on the beast by himself, and he was oddly dressed with the hood of his outfit covering most of his reptilian eyes. The silence of the staredown was finally broken by an outburst of laughter from all at the table. Though they all seemed to be amused by his offer, he was not.
"I don't see what's so funny about what i said?"
he hissed, tilting his head to the side, his reptilian eyes scanning over each man. Did they not believe his words? Did they need a show of his capabilities? Whatever the case was he didnt like it.The adamant human spoke first, his tone condescending and full of spite. "As if a runt like you could take down a beast as mighty and violent as the Lyrosaur?! I've heard some horseshit tales before, but this one is by far the funniest." he jested, which caused the others at the table to join in, calling him "weak" and an "idiot", and even "No good foreign shit".
To say all of this only served to piss the viper off was more than enough, which prompted the following words that came next.
"Well I don't know about a beast, but I know I can take on weak men like you."
he said with a devilish smirk. The laughter came to a halt at that moment. They all stared, some standing, fist clenched as evidence of their annoyance with him. The Lothar on the opposite end of the table from Dosan simply smirked. The viper returning one of his own. His predatorial instincts kicked in as he felt a figure move behind his chair. "You think you can take us all on by yourself little man?" he asked to which the viper simply nodded in affirmation to the claims.
The Lothar gave a wave of his hand, and the man behind Dosan threw a punch aimed at the back of his head. What the brute hadn't realized was the 5ft tail dancing from beneath Dosan's warrior parka until it wrapped around his neck and flung him across the bar.
The atmosphere shifted drastically as everyone at the table stood backing away from it, all eyes trained on the viper still seated. In the silence of their shock, Dosan stood, and removed his hood, undoing part of the parka and tying it around his waste to exhibit his scales and reptilian eyes.
"One....two....three..."
he began to count, his eyes moving to each figure that was at the table. "Six....seven....eight..."
he finished, looking at the Lothar with the eyepatch. the Lothar smirked and waved his hand, which signaled the others to attack. His mind quickly turned, entering predator mode, slapping the first to close the distance to him in the head with his tail. A fist came from his left and the viper ducked, watching it soar over him reached and took hold of the arm and flipped the man across the floor. Two more came and tried to tag team him, and he happily engaged. The good thing about having a tail was that you could have it deal with one while you fought the other. Every time the man at his back tried to attack his tail would either defend him or attack. And while it did that Dosan could focus on the man in front of him. The two exchanged blow after blow, the viper looking for a solid opening.
Blocking punch after punch the viper found his chance within the man's guard and took it. Lunging forward he took hold of the man's neck and squeezed, nearly choking the life out of the man, and in tandem, his tail looped around the other man's face and began to tighten. Both men wailed and flailed in his grasp, as more seemed to come at him. Tossing the one his tail had gripped at the coming foes Dosan punched the on his hand in the eye and spun around, unsheathing his chokoto, and planting the blade into the foot of another then bringing it up to slash across the man's face.
The entire scene was brutal but it all came to a head with the Lothar with the eyepatch stepped in. Coming out of Dosan's blind spot, he swung his great sword at an angle that would no doubt cleave a normal man in two. Dosan, however, was a little sturdier than your average human. Turning he raised his blade to catch the incoming swing, the impact sending the viper across the room.
With a loud thud, he hit the wall, but landed on his feet, though the breath was knocked clean out of him. By the time he looked the lothar was already on top of him. Not being able to deflect the incoming attack, he rolled out of the way and ascended the walls till he reached the ceiling. Seeing this one of the men drew their bow, but the Lothar stopped him from firing his arrow.
I got to say, not many could survive a swing of my sword, I should have broken your blade and split you in two already. he said looking up into the corner Dosan has situated himself in. That statement made the viper chuckle in his corner, his tail pointing at the man as he spoke.
"I was trained by a Lothar far stronger than you one-eye."
his response made the man laugh, moving to take his seat once again. He motioned for Dosan to come to where he was, which the viper did, crawling along the ceiling till he was right above the man, the descending using his tail to hold himself upside down in front of the man. You are definitely a weird little man, but you have strength and courage. If you really want to help kill the Lyrosaur, meet me in the forest outside the city early tomorrow morning and I'll tell you all you need to know. he offered, a nod of approval being sent the viper's way.
It was a sign that he could relax, seeing as this lothar seemed to be in charge of this little tavern, or at least didnt have many who would challenge him. Letting his anchor go he slipped on to the floor and stood. He got what he wanted and he would hold the lothar to his word. Hey...what was your name kid? the lothar shouted as Dosan went to leave the building stepping over the one he had beat up.
The viper turned, fixing his clothes and putting the hood on.
"Dosan...Dosan Saito."
he answered, exited the place of business.
