Ten years ago, tucked away in the outer perimeter of Etzos, three eggs sat nestled together, watched over by a couple overjoyed at the prospect of raising a family together. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. The mother, caught in the crossfire of gang conflict in her neighborhood, was slain. The father, overwhelmed by grief, fell into alcoholism to try and nurse his broken soul. By the time the first cracks began to show in the shells, he had fallen so deep into debt that the thought of raising a family had escaped him. Offers were made by various parties he was indebted to regarding the unborn children and he accepted them without a second thought. Thus, there was a crowd there in his tiny hovel when the eggs cracked open, awaiting their pick of the litter. The lone female was a still-birth while the other two, brothers, came out kicking and growling. Selections were made and then the groups dispersed. The father would pass a few months later and the brothers . . . well they were never told of this fateful trial.
In their minds, they had been born alone.
Sicarius was sold to a Biqaj pirate crew that his father was indebted to, and was raised as a child of the ship. He spent much of his early childhood aboard the boat, sailing the Orm'del Sea, learning the ways of a seafarer. The child adored his upbringing, being a part of this larger group, and had accepted that if this was what the rest of his life looked like, he would be happy. Moreso, it instilled in him this desire to be the best he could be for the betterment of his family. One Biqaj, the woman Sicarius often referred to as his mother, took a special liking to him and "adopted" him.
Sicarius' life was changed when the pirate crew were approached by the Gofrith Family in 717 with a deal of a lifetime. The Gofriths were looking to absorb the crew into their growing mercantile empire, which was based out of the faraway city of Melrath, in exchange for a marriage arrangement to the Jarl's younger brother. Sicarius' mother was the one chosen to wed the man, given that they were of a similar age, and she insisted that the Ithecal go with her to be her one familiar face in this strange new life. Not wanting her to be alone, Sicarius agreed, not realizing at the time the great gift he was receiving.
The Ithecal has lived the last two years as a Godfrith, benefitting from every perk that comes with the name. He still misses the sea, and hopes to one day return to it, but for now he is doing all he can to grow so he can served his new family like he had intended to serve his old. He's still very much on the outside of his family, let alone the Melrathi high society, but he's determined to earn himself a place among them as quickly as possible.
