Alex was born due to his mother being tricked, though he was originally unwanted, his mother held him close soon after his birth. Though, even as a child his face would be distorted to those who observed it, this caused the midwife to nearly pass out. As she saw a large insectoid head emerge from the woman giving birth. Though she kept strong, as the child was finally born, brought to the mother. The mother was not immune to the effects of this, as when she looked upon the face of her new child. It was the man who tricked her, it was beautiful and terrifying. Perhaps that is why she did not throw the child away, since her fear was the man that took away her beauty. That may be why, or maybe her instincts took over at that time.
Over the arcs, Alex and his mother were pushed aside from the city's eye. Cast into the slums of Yaralon, near where the Goblins lay, in the very shack in which he was conceived in. Times were hard for the small child, as the only person that could stand his face was his mother. Though she looked like an old crone, she was young, having the child at a very tender age. Though as all things in Alex's life tend to do, something happened to make his life worst.
When Alex was 12 arcs old, he came home to see his mother crying. He had not known why when he entered the home. It seemed like it was because her hunger was getting to her, as she was begging and doing unspeakable things for food. Though the acts were rare, and begging was much harder. Alex gave his mother a hug, it was out of love for the one person who loved him. During the hug, his mother's heart changed, it disturbed the young boy. She grabbed hold of a kitchen knife, and ran outside of the shack. Jumping onto a nearby man, as she stabbed wildly at him. Alex watched in horror, as the only person that loved him was then cut down. A swordsman was near enough by to save the man from his mother's strange bout of anger. Alex rushed to his mother, crying as the two men both recoiled at the sight of the child. Tears dropped from what ever visage they saw, along with the sobbing of a small child. There were deep burn marks on his mother's arms, in the place Alex had hugged her.
Alex was alone now, over the next six arcs he had to fend for himself. Begging did not work for food, as every person recoiled at the sight of the child. Only leaving him crying and hungry for another day. Soon he began to sneak around the city, going into windows just for a piece of bread. Just trying to live for another day, one more day is all he scrapped by for. He would be caught several times, and the one man who could stand his sight would scold him as he was left in a prison cell. The guard captain seemed to be able to at least look at the boy, it is unknown what he saw but he could at least stomach it.
As the boy slowly turned into a man, he became better at taking what he needed. He still lived in the small shack, soon he would need to do the run... Though did he want to stay in this city? No one seemed to like him here.
For now, he has stowed away on a ship heading away from the city. Maybe another land would accept him, any of the sailors that ventured and saw him would give rumors of a monster below deck.
