Larkin was born in Melrath to his mother, an ex slave from Athart, who had ran away while travelling near Melrath, who taught him Dehasin, and his father was a drunk who had been planning to leave Melrath and did so after finding out Larkin's mother was pregnant with Tyren, Larkin's younger brother. His father taught him how to defend himself and fight, so he would be able to fend off anyone who tried to hurt him and because he believed that all people should know how to fight. His mother worked as a sort of con, using fortune telling to trick people, and brought Larkin along with her, unable to leave him alone and thinking that the child would help her get more money. She always told him it was fine because she wasn't hurting people, but Larkin thought that she was hurting them by telling people terrible things that would happen to them if they didn't let her show them how to prevent the things she was making up. She taught Larkin how to read the cards, and how to talk to people who would pay to have their fortune read. By the time Larkin turned 12, he was experienced and old enough to properly work without his Mother's help, and get money from people by pretending to read their future, but Larkin tended to be more positive and try to make people feel better about their problems rather than scaring them into giving money. It was around the time that Larkin turned 12 that his mother gave birth to Tyren, and his father left, this didn't change much for Larkin as neither of his parents looked after him very well or seemed to care about much other than themselves, but he began to take care of his younger brother as well as working. A little after he turned 15, Larkin found his mother had left in the night one day, she had threatened to many times, talking about how sick she was of taking care of the two, but Larkin had never expected her to actually do it while Tyren was still young. Larkin comforted his younger brother, and accepted that he would have to look after him on his own now, and continued to work to look after Tyren and himself. He attempted to cook and clean, though found he struggled with it a lot, but he was good at playing and keeping Tyren happy, and bringing in money to keep them alive. Unable to come up with any other way, he continued to work in the way his mother had taught him, tricking others that he can see their futures and playing the part of an entertainer to them to keep his customers happy and trusting him.
