The siege against the forward camp of the Death Nel Raiders had held the line for a couple days straight. Valiant warriors all, driving back and preventing the incursions by the demonic hordes. The demons had given their worst to the barricade, with their very worst yet on the way. Big demons, medium sized demons, demons armed to the teeth, demons using poison weapons and ranged weapons. All of them were halted and driven back by the raiders, yet no headway had been made into the fracture itself.
Alaiwa and Kisaik sat astride their respective mounts nearby. They watched the carnage with concern, waiting for the moment to arrive, when their help would be instrumental. Kisaik had a hunch, ever since hearing about the demonic hordes pouring through this burho, that his help would eventually be needed. While he was of little use against the human-sized and even sub-human goblins pouring out of the fracture, he knew it was only a matter of time before the demons devised a breed that was perfectly designed to overcome any such barricades and barriers.
And he was not wrong, especially on this day of all.
A large, bloated demon emerged from the fracture, and began lumbering down toward the Barricade. Its belly bursting and churning with the movement of what some might suppose are intestinal parasites or some such. The commanders of the Death Nel Raiders called for the rest to avoid engaging the thing, as it made no overt moves toward aggression. It merely meandered along the barricades, as if drunk or lost.
Finally, one of the raiders got restless, and stuck the thing in its belly. At first, there was a silence. A quietude that resembled a drowned person getting sucked under a quagmire, unable to scream against the liquid sand. Then, a low groan sounded from deep beneath the Demon's folds of fat. It's pallid skin grew purple. Its skin drew taught, and began to sink into itself. Then, it happened suddenly.
The large demon burst into a horde of smaller demons, hand-sized little buggers that were threatening to overcome the barricade.
"Alaiwa! We must to battle!" Kisaik sang in tree-talk, drawing his lance out from it's sleeve. The metal shaft gleamed with reddened steel, and was about twice in length the height of Kisaik himself. "Finally, time to challenge a foe our own size! We must make for the breach under the barricade! They're trying to push through..."
Thus, the two raced for the little openings in between the rubble and scrap that existed in the barricade. The smaller demons would easily be able to bypass these.
Thus the demons latest attempt to break the siege of the Death Nel Raiders had commenced.
