Appearance

Given the gift of height, Shl'Drei stands at 6 feet tall. Having trained most his life he has moderate muscle mass, and an athletic build to accompany it. He has near perfect posture, and very open body language - his actions speak louder than his words with creatures after all. Thick dirty blond hair rests atop his scalp, often cut short as not to impair his vision. His light, slightly tanned skin offsets perfectly with his blue eyes. He has a few bite marks on his hands and a handful of scratch scars littering his body. He appears rather cold outside - he doesn't generally interact when in a group, rather he sticks to the outside and mingles with those who seem to be by themselves. He hates being the center of attention and will be quick to shift attention from himself. He's not much for parties, finding most of his comfort on his own or with his beasts.

After gaining the Velduris mark of Karem, Shl’drei’s eyes have turned the green of wolves and he has a set of fangs on both the upper and lower row of his teeth.
Personality

Awkward - Kind - Cautious - Curious - Distant

Shl'drei is more outgoing nowadays. While he still maintains that he's sociable when the right topics are brought up, he's withdrawn from most things as he doesn't like the idea of losing anything else. He's a bit clumsy with social interactions and his social confidence isn't as high as it could be- though he does seem at ease once the ice melts he's usually very tense and panicky when thinking of what people see him as. He's still easy to talk, he still enjoys talking, but its hard to get started. He trusts less- he makes friendships but he doesn't 100% put himself out to anyone because he's afraid of being hurt.

Shl'Drei is somewhat of a mystery. He tries to seem intimidating and mean but in truth he's softer than you'd expect. He loves to learn new things - especially if it's creature related, and is easily excited by the thought of making new friends. He's a hard worker - maybe perhaps too much because he often stops worrying over his needs and continues his job. He's very cautious around other people despite this - he doesn't trust easily and his respect and friendship is earned. Generally he's pretty tame, but he is prone to anger when he feels wronged or betrayed.
Housing

Shl’drei has a small tier 4 home on the Scalvoris Town borders. It’s very simple and minimalistic, having only the room for bare necessities. The first room is a small sized kitchen with leads to the average masterbedroom. To the right of the bedroom is a master bathroom and a average but small built in stable sits on the left. In the stables one can find a scalvwing steed, in the kitchen most often is found Shl’drei’s malamute and lumen wolf.

A modest tier 4 hut in the , a Lumen Wolf guards it. A small bed, two chairs lined around a small table with two knives and an assortment of six plates atop it in the middle of the room, a chest beside the bed which lay against the rightmost corner wall, and a fireplace stares back as one looks into the room on the far wall when you first enter. It caved in as a result of shady issues.*

History

The Novatt family was a long line of Human beast trainers known for their incredible ability to understand and control most beasts known. In later generations the family broke off into animal handlers and tamers - but training was in their blood.

Azeraj - part of the fifteenth generation was a Novatt through and through and through, but with power and fame came greed and addiction. Azeraj was a very power hungry man, and in his descent into sin he dragged his beasts - and son - with him. He ruled his home with iron fists - the beasts he’d tamed were timid and afraid - mostly due to him inducing fear of disobeying him. So when his wife bore a son, he saw a chance to continue his legacy. His mother was a veterinarian - a skilled one that bandaged and fixed the animals that her husband damaged or mistreated.

Shl’Drei was the opposite of what his father hoped for. He was born soft - he cared too much for the creatures to rule them like slaves as his father did. He befriended them instead, rewarded them for good behavior with snacks and petting - even taking them outside the old manor he once inhabited. But he wasn't openly doing so - all this was behind his father’s back.

With his father’s beasts he had to assert his dominance more forcefully. He took a liking to a whip, often using it as a punishment or whipping the air as a warning. His father trained him to fight - but mostly pushed him to become stronger physically so he could handle more training. He would run laps in early morning and late at night. Between that there was muscle memory training, weightlifting and animal behavior study.

He had always resented his father for never giving him a chance to treat creatures his way - with love and respect. While he understood that most creatures were not kind he also knew that bad treatment only brought out the worst in them. He grew up distant and cold - only showing softness in the presence of his mother and creatures.

At fourteen having seen his father stab a creature for disobedience he lost it. He used all his training against is father - resulting in him being killed by the beasts he had trained. Full of regret and guilt he ran away from home before his mother could find out - and him.

He traveled a few towns over acquiring plenty of scars and bite marks along the way as he interacted with the untamed wild creatures between cities and towns. At some point he managed to befriend a Caracal named Shuna - the female traveled with him and protected him for the most part. He would stay with her for two years before she became pregnant. After the birth - Shuna guided him back to the city knowing she would be unable to take care of a human child and her own children.

By that time Shl’Drei had become part of the pack eating with them (having burned his meat) and growing with them. After getting to the next city - Shl’Drei had aged quite a bit and had learned to survive on his own. He began taming more creatures - ones that could keep him safe and keep him company. When he reached the edge of Rharne he was nineteen and the animals would not follow him. He had been entrusted with one of Shuna’s cubs - which he named Liam.

He began to do odd jobs around the city while trying to remain undetected - training house pets and such to gain gold until he could purchase a small home. He brought Liam there to guard it and there he resides now unknowingly under the watch of those he thought disowned.

Recent History

After having become comfortable in Rharne Shl'Drei began to feel cramped and watched so he left it behind with a boat - his two pack members accompanying him to Scalvoris in the arc 719. His arrival was delayed and had a ton of stops, but he would eventually arrive near the end of the arc and set housing in Sweetwine where his pack could roam freely. In the time before that Shl'Drei spent his time completing Leora's training.

In the arc of 720 in Scalvoris there was a large event that Shl'Drei took part in. Bringing with him Liam and his minimal wits, Shl'drei found he was much less prepared for the event that he anticipated- and he knew it costed him. Due to the eruption and between the panic Shl'Drei was separated from Shuna's pup, the one entrusted to him, and was devastated to realize Liam was most likely dead. Th eruption took some of the island, and without Shl'Drei's instruction he knew Liam would act as a threatened and fearful animal, meaning hope for him was lost. As of the cold cycle Shl'Drei fell into a depressive bout, doing bare necessities to keep himself alive and well along with his remaining companion. He has no aim or focus and he doesn't have much will to find one.

    • Medallion of Fortitude and Compassion: Medallions are enchanted with the favored ability "Gift of Cheer" from Saoire's mark, Telka. "Saoire's domain of Gifts is not merely one of physical goods, but of the happiness and joy that comes with both giving and receiving a well meant gift. This ability allows the Blessed to give both themselves and anyone they're with a feeling of joy and good cheer, banishing negative feelings like sorrow, anger, and fear. " This ability can be used twice a season for a break (hour) each time. Simply touch the medallion and think of the two words inscribed upon it to activate.(*)
    • Copperhead: A small copper figurine in the shape of a dragonling. Four times a cycle, the character can command the figurine to reshape itself into a weapon head. When activated thus, the figurine will transform into molten copper, which will flow and coat itself over any weapon head of the character's choice. The enchantment will last for one break before the item will revert to figurine form. It cannot be activated more than once on any given trial. The weapon thus coated will be quality tier 8 for the duration of the enchantment, regardless of how high or low is its quality normally - Useful for fighting ghosts. (*)
    • A metallic bracelet with a lightning symbol on it, given to you by Ilaren for being such a good sport about being put in harm's way. While worn, it confers to Shl'drei the following two Adored level abilities from Ilaren's Palemon mark(*):
      • -Tolerance. This is a passive that will always be in effect as long as the bracelet is worn.
      • -Lightning Manipulation (Moderate) This ability can be activated up to three times a trial.
    • Shield Toad: Saoire has granted Shl'drei a "Shield Toad" (i.e., Turtle) figurine. It confers an animal-themed version of the Telka Adored ability: Turtle's Classroom, producing training areas suitable for Shl'drei's Animal Training activities.(*)

Details: A hyper, friendly, playful, did I say hyper? Mess. Sek is still just learning the ropes of the pack. She seems jovially ignorant of the chain of command, and has on many occasions, been called a handful and a trouble maker. Still, she's growing, and Shl'drei knows that means she's at a delicate stage. He just wishes Sek would spend less time chewing on things she shouldn't. Sek is more likely to roll over for rubs towards a threat than to attack.

Marks

Velduris*: Those who possess the blessing of Velduris are generally somewhat quiet, reserved people more at home in the wild than in cities or towns. The Blessing itself manifests as a set of fangs on the bottom and top of the character's teeth. They also obtain the eyes of a wolf; the color dependent on the users preference. This is a symbol that the character is now apart of Karem's 'pack'.

Abilities

  • Pack Bond (Favored)
    • The Favored is granted an omega wolf familiar, a constant companion. The wolf is significantly more intelligent than regular wolves and is somewhat bigger. In addition, this spirit can communicate not only with it's companion, but with other wolves of its pack. Karem can, at any time, contact any of the wolves her blessing grants, but they can only contact her if she chooses to listen. If the wolf is too heavily drained or badly injured it will revert to a spirit form until it is either rested or healed. The wolf can also choose to revert to spirit form at will, though they generally only do so in crowded cities and such. The blessed can still communicate with their wolf in spirit form. The wolf can tell when someone else has been blessed by Karem, and will always be able to find others who bear Velduris.
  • Sense of Prey (Favored)
    • A skill that allows the blessed to tell where a prey animal may be found nearby, allowing the wielder to always be able to find food at need. They can also tell whether people around them have weak combat skills or are easily intimidated.
  • Skills I (Favored)
    • The character is granted an extra three skill points which may be spent only on the following skills: Animal Husbandry, Animal Training, Fieldcraft, Ranged Combat, Thrown Combat, or Hunting. Any skill points granted by this Mark can break the 250 (or 100 if fast track) point cap on skills. Within these skills, the points may be spent how the pc chooses.
  • Predatorial Instincts (Favored)
    • A skill that grants the favored the patience and calm needed to effectively hunt, as well as allowing one to tell when their prey, whether animal or human, has taken notice that they are being hunted.
  • Taste of Prey (Favored)
    • When the marked has tasted blood or flesh of their intended target, this forms an immediate and lasting bond. While only one 'prey' can be designated at basic marked, each level thereafter increases the amount of prey a marked can have. Once a prey has been chosen, the marked will always be able to find them. Over sea, desert, forest, or even through the air the marked can track down their prey to any corner of Idalos. This manifests as a smell or taste on the air that inevitably leads the marked in the direction of their chosen prey. In return this ability can be shared with the wolves in ones pack.
  • Sense of Survival (Favored)
    • The favored is able to tell what will help them survive in the wild, from what trees are safe to burn and what food is safe to eat and more. However, this effect does not work in more civilized land and it still falls upon the favored to be able to use what they find.
