Often set between both the wilds and the cities and villages, these places can be found through-out Melrath and just outside its gates. Such locations include the Ragnari headquarters (Laerad Tower, Thrudheim Tower, Nifheim Tower, Lyngvi Tower), the prisons (Hel), and those locations that yet have a name. This also includes The Myrk Veil and the False City. Posting in this section is freely available, but perilous if you are somewhere you don't belong.

Re: 6. Cold Hearts [FYW Event Chapter 6]

“I never implied that“, Victor replied as Navyri pointed out that not all without magic were helpless, in case she was offended by his comment before he looked at Ferret again, considering him. What Navyri had said about the Becomer had sounded quite impressive, he had to admit. As for the Spellweavers needing so many guards? He turned to face her again. “Not even the most powerful of mages can keep an eye on so many people at the same time. That’s likely where the guards come into play – to watch the prisoners, to watch us. I was a fairly powerful mage myself before those people took my magic away”, he explained, his gaze darkening momentarily. Why had they not given him his magic back when he had agreed to work for them? It didn’t make any sense to him! Was he really nothing but a tool?

While Navyri paced, the noble remained exactly where he was, silently wondering how he was supposed to proceed now and what his next course of action should be. He needed to tread exceptionally carefully. He was a bad actor and an even worse liar though. If he told them an outright lie, he was worried that it might be showing on his face. How was he supposed to explain why he knew what he knew? He met Navyri’s gaze again as she asked her question before he replied, deciding to tell the truth again, “The guard that I went with didn’t take me back to my old cell. We travelled through Niflheim for a while, down a hallway that was exceptionally luxurious. He took me to another part of the fortress. I was not blindfolded this time. He either didn’t have time to blindfold me or didn’t think that it would be necessary for some reason. I’m confident that I’d be able to find the place again.”

“I thought that he would take me to my brother or that the Spellweavers would at least use me to extort money from Stefan and release me once they had gotten enough, but I think they just wanted to separate me from the rioters. Things in the fortress were chaotic due to the fights”,
he told her. “When I tried to find you all again, I saw things. I don’t think that we are the only prisoners here. There seem to be prisoners all across Niflheim. There was a room. I found a book in it. Someone had written ‘help’ in it, over and over again. I don’t think they ever received any help though …” he murmured, his voice trailing off. He touched his cheek again, wondering if already had a bruise where the guard had punched him. He still couldn’t believe the man had actually done that! Had it really been necessary?

There had been a book in the room in which they had imprisoned him, for an entire trial, before Angud had finally deigned to talk to him. Reading that book had almost made him reconsider. He’d been worried that he’d end up just like them, mad and desperate before she had finally offered him a possible way out – an incredibly risky way out.

“I don’t want to end up like them”, he told her. “I don’t want to go mad in here. As for the moss”, he abruptly looked at Ferret again. “There was moss in my cell. I considered eating it because I was quite hungry, but ultimately didn’t because I was worried that it might be poisonous. If whatever blocks our magic is in our food though …” he murmured, suddenly hopeful, his conviction momentarily faltering. He was desperate to get his magic back, even though there had been a time when he had blamed magic on everything bad that had happened to him, especiallyhis lover’s death. Why had Angud not given him his magic back, even though there might be a way? “If we could all get our magic back, we might have an actual chance, or at least a better chance than if we relied on Ferret’s potions alone. Are there any mages here, besides Ferret and me?” he asked, addressing the entire group. If Ferret could make a potion that unlocked their magic …

… if they could get their magic back, they might actually have a chance. He didn’t like Ferret and his companions at all – they were dirty, rude, dangerous and not particularly intelligent for the most part – but the plan wasn’t entirely bad, even though there were a lot of uncertainties. What was he supposed to do? He just wanted to live; he deserved more than just pain and betrayal. He didn’t want things to end like that. He didn’t want to die in a prison, like some sort of lowly criminal.

If he changed sides yet again, the Spellweavers would hunt him down and try to kill him though – unless he managed to change his appearance somehow or make it back to Lysoria before they found him. Surely, they wouldn’t risk a war against his brother. There was also the fact that Angud had said that the guards would arrive sometime after they had left and try to swarm them though. Angud was intelligent, she was reasonable … and then there were Spellweaver Eklund and his daughter … they were these people’s enemies … why was he still without magic though?

The values of kinship were important; Amaris understood and knew this well. Zourvy's increased panic was something they might have felt if they were placed in the same position, and had to worry about their own twin. But that was not the current situation -- currently, they needed to make it out of this alive and in one piece.

But -- while the others toiled with what to do next, there was something that they could not shake. Ferret had expressed it, and maybe that was why it had been dismissed. From many to three. Was no else concerned about this? "What do you mean this was a research facility?" None of the mages had magic. They were being drugged, poisoned -- whatever word they wanted to use for it. "Were they...studying mages? Pardon me, but I'm not the most knowledgeable on the Melrathi government structures, but what are the Syns?" They tucked a lock of color-changing hair behind their ear, brows furrowed.

"I understand the importance of knowing our next move, but they could be using the prisoners for research purposes since it would seem the majority are mages." It would explain their eagerness to take the mixed blood. They sighed, glanced toward Rolf. He was their insider, but how much did he really offer? He couldn't know much if he was a guard, and one so easily turned. "I don't think Rolf will be able to help us with Vy; there might be a chance that they've caught on to his...moonlighting as an accomplice. Or at least have figured out that one of the guards is in on this." No, Rolf might need to be removed from the equation. Usually, they would feel some sort of remorse for leaving him behind, but they could not. Frightened, stressed; they couldn't bring to mind a feeling of guilt in putting their survival ahead of trying to get everyone out alive. At least, not anyone that hadn't been imprisoned prior to this.

They wondered, briefly, how Max might deal with this. Briefly. "Mr. Ferret, what did they study before?"

"What do you mean this was a research facility?"

Ferret looked at Amaris and sarcastically answered, "What do you think I mean?"

"Were they...studying mages? Pardon me, but I'm not the most knowledgeable on the Melrathi government structures, but what are the Syns?"

"No, not at first, not exactly, not like that. I was one of the first," said Ferret. He scratched at his hair, a momentary look of confusion, then said, "Syns are the militant mage branch of the Ragnari, the army of Melrath."

"Mr. Ferret, what did they study before?"

Ferret stared at Amaris, blue eyes aglow, and then he said, "Those marked by Immortals. To... sever and... remove..."

If Praetorum's Suspicion spark could still whisper in his ear, it would have told him not to trust any of them, to keep his abilities hidden until he used them. It would have told him that he knew not a single one of these people, nor attuned to them, that this might well prove to be a trap or trick.

But the attunement spark was silent in his chest, and so Praetorum saw no issue in answering Victor's question. "Gaining our, my, magic back would give us a huge advantage in fighting," Prae agreed. "I'm a hone mage of no small skill, and a better defier than any I've every seen." There was no boastfulness or arrogance in that, only a simple statement of fact.

With that out of the way, Prae turned his attention back to the matter at hand. Whatever was suppressing their magic was both in their food, and 'on and around them', whatever that meant. Zourvy seemed to be suggesting that the shackles had... transferred the poison to them? Prae was no expert on such matters. Still, "if the poison is in and around us—" Prae pointed out — "why would simply killing the overseer give you your magic back?" Did Ferret know something he wasn't sharing? Or was it simply the delusion of a man desperate for revenge.

He shook his head in irritation. "'What they put around us, on each of us'—if it's the shackles or the clothing, as well as the food..... Could we wait it out if we had untainted food? Just let the poison run its course? Or is there more, in... I don't know, the air or the walls or the water?"

Too many unknowns, and Ferret was still cagey about answers. Prae didn't know the right questions, either. Still, there was the broad shape of an idea forming in Prae's mind now. "This place is safe for now, I assume; do you know of any other safe rooms, unused areas around the prison? If we could hide from them long enough to gain back our powers.... and even if not, if we time the poisoning just right... How long will it take for the poison to take effect? And are their any side effects they might notice before then? Oh, and Zourvy, do you know how the cell doors are locked? Do the guards have keys for each door, or is there a master key for each floor or hallway?"

Re: 6. Cold Hearts [FYW Event Chapter 6]

The group deliberated.

Victor was, again, just concerned and no one else seemed to think otherwise.

Navyri took on her new Sneabru-supported role as the leader of their ragtag group. When she asked about Vy to Zourvy, the white-haired Biqaj seemed unwilling to answer what the actual chances were that they might find their sister. Zourvy rubbed anxiously at their forearm, though.

"Better yet… What about Rolf?” she asked, gaze flickering to Sneabru and then the others, “Could he bring Vy to us instead, say she’s gotta be moved for questioning? Even if its down the hall, we could prepare an ambush. I may know a thing or two about traps and few guards are more easily dispatched than a nest of ‘em. We kill who we need to and take their armor. I just…”

“That issss good idea,” agreed Sneabru, his forked tongue flicking out as the ugly ithecal hissed in agreement.

No one else was aware that as Navyri said this, as she shrugged, as she continued to talk… she progressively started to feel more and more light-headed. It seemed as if not-eating was starting to catch up to her. But she had endured worse in the past, and she would endure this.

Through her malnourished state, she caught on that maybe Victor wasn’t just concerned and she stared him down.

Victor faced her directly, however. He explained where he’d come from, of the luxurious suite that had served as his temporary prison. He even mentioned the book he’d found.

“If we could all get our magic back, we might have an actual chance, or at least a better chance than if we relied on Ferret’s potions alone.” Victor offered the suggestion.

“You all ate the bread, or soup, though,” said Zourvy. “That means, it’ll be… how long, Ferret?”

“Depends on when it passes through,” mentioned Ferret bluntly. “It’s got to get out of the system completely and given some time to recover, without them realizing. That’s the only way. I figure it’ll only be about a break, then I’ll be fully back for my magic. But that’s because Rolf had managed to fake the force-feed. Snea, what about you?”

“They had a different guard come by, sssso… longer for me,” answered the ithecal with a quiet angry hiss.

The conversations quieted as Amaris asked incredibly important questions of Ferret and shared astute observations…

…Astute observations such as…

“I don't think Rolf will be able to help us with Vy; there might be a chance that they've caught on to his...moonlighting as an accomplice.”

But the bulk of the attention went to the questions instead. Praetorum spoke up, with further thought, in a tactician’s gradual consideration of potential plans.

Zourvy spoke up in a slightly irritated voice, “The shackles. Think about them. Think. Why would prison cuffs have such smooth wood included on the interior? Why waste the resources?”

“We can wait it out,” confirmed Ferret, though he started to look exhausted from all the questions that he was answering. “As long as we aren’t caught and force-fed more…”

“There’s plenty of places like these, but…” Ferret closed his eyes. This time he swayed somewhat. He made his way to the wall and leaned against it. It seemed that Navyri wasn’t the only one suffering from not eating. In fact, if Ferret didn’t have moss in his cell because they burned it out; and he didn’t eat the bread and soup; and he managed to avoid the force-feeding; then…

Zourvy looked to the Becomer and asked, “You okay? Can you even pull this plan of your's off?”

“Shut up, Sour,” growled Ferret.

“Shut up!? Fuck you. Vy might be in trouble and you’re going to fucking faint?” snapped Zourvy. The scarred Biqaj looked over to Praetorum and they said, “All the cell doors are locked. There are certain guards that are the key-holders, others have fake keys so it’s difficult to tell which is which.”

“The potion happens fast, within bits,” muttered Ferret in delay. He kept his eyes shut, still leaning against the wall. “The more they ingest, the stronger and faster it suffocates the sparks. It would work. It has to… I won’t get another chance… They won’t let me out again, not this time.”

The door to their assumed safe room creaked open.

The guard, Rolf, stood at the threshold, key in one hand and a torch in the other. His helmet wasn’t on, anymore.

A mess of dark blond hair hung wet, framed his strong-jaw face. Along the broad angles of his cheeks and brow, the dull red of a Valkyrion Battlethirst tattoo showed.

Rolf glanced at the group, then he looked at Sneabru and said, “I’m sorry.”

Sneabru swiftly moved to the very opposite end of the room, back against the wall. His tail swished behind him. He hissed while lowering into a crouch.

Zourvy grabbed onto Praetorum’s forearm, to pull him back to where Sneabru had gone, to get space in the room. A femur bone crunched under his boot while he hurried away from the door.

Ferret remained where he was, toward the center of the room, vials still in hand. His face had gone pale, the brilliant blue of his eyes dimmed.

From behind Rolf, a young woman stepped into the torch light. Gray-blue eyes, long brunette hair that went past her hips, and an almost unnerving neutral expression of composure; she stared at the prisoners.

She wasn’t dressed in a tunic, nor armor. Rather, she wore a simple white nightdress with modest lace frills at the edges. In the torch light, the white proved thin enough that anyone could see the tint of her skin underneath and the shape of her slender form. Along her shoulders, blackened tattoos showed in the shape of chains.

Image
“Hello Bastian,” said the human woman in a smooth voice, almost monotone except for an underlying eagerness.

“Charlotte, how did you get out?” Ferret took a step backward, as if in fear, as if he suddenly had lost any remaining willpower he had in the moments before. All his rebelliousness, all his indignation, all his determination… vanished with a simple hello from the human in front of them. His breath sounded in a moment of silence that nearly suffocated the room for how tense it became.

“Where’s Vy?” asked Zourvy, proving the opposite of Ferret. It seemed as if they’d gathered their resolve and they drew their dual daggers with a loud slide of metal against the leather sheaths.

“Vy… Vy…” mused Charlotte with a tap of her finger against her lips. “Oh, you mean your twin bitch? She’ll be going where she belongs. As will all of you. Isn’t that right, Bastian? Give me the vials. You and I both know whatever little plan you've got, it won’t work against mother.”

Ferret shook his head. His dark hair rustled… but not from the motion. The Becomer growled, “Get out of my way.”

Charlotte sighed. She stepped away from the door, waving Rolf to step back. The young woman outstretched her hand in obvious gesture to invite them to leave the hiding room.

“Please, Bastian? Make it fun?” asked Charlotte in a begging tone, and she reached into the pocket of her nightdress. The fair woman brought out a small silver hand mirror. She smiled. “Go on then. Let’s have a chase, shall we? The guards will be here soon, after the trail I left them, oh yes. Very soon, indeed. They might even get here before him. Well, one has to take exercise when it’s offered here and stretch those legs of your’s. Who will try first?”

A pair of insect antenna lifted from Ferret’s hair. They danced against the air like feelers, sensing the area around them. His blue eyes brightened. He turned to Navyri, shoved the vials in her hand, and said, “Hide them. Use them. They’ll work.”

Zourvy looked at Praetorum.

Sneabru looked at Navyri.

Ferret sprinted past Charlotte, and escaped out the door, leaving them all behind.

Re: 6. Cold Hearts [FYW Event Chapter 6]

When Zourvy spoke about the shackles, Victor furrowed his brow thoughtfully. A moment later, the noble who was not only a double or even a triple agent but also an exceptionally experienced researcher, remarked, “There are certain substances that can be used to create items that block magic, besides paradigm cuffs and rings. I’ve read about a tree whose wood has quite interesting properties. Perhaps the shackles contain such a kind of wood?” He raised an eyebrow and looked at the group of degenerates and wannabe escapees questioningly before he shrugged his shoulders.

He didn’t react to Amaris’ question about Niflheim’s being a research facility. Due to having met Angud, Victor already knew what kind of research people were conducting here and what their ultimate goal was. Of course, he chose not to share what he had learned with the others. He had begun to wonder why Angud had not given him his magic back and what was really going on, but that didn’t mean that he had suddenly stopped disliking Ferret and his motley group of friends and allies. He would only help them as much as was necessary, for the time being at least, unless things changed dramatically.

For that reason, he didn’t care about Ferret’s complaining that he woudn’t get another chance particularly either. In his opinion, it would be better if the Becomer were locked up for the rest of his life. There was one thing that he couldn’t help but wonder about though, “Who is Rolf?”

~~~
When the door creaked open, and a man stepped into the room, Victor looked at him with a mixture of confusion and concern. Was this another conspirator that Angud hadn’t told him about? How many more people would show up before this was over? Had she withheld information from him on purpose? No, she had given him the impression of being honest …
A moment later, a woman followed, and the situation became even stranger and more confusing. Who was she? How did Ferret – no, Bastian – know her? Who on Idalos was Ferret? It almost sounded as if … as if he were the son of one of the Spellweavers or even the Overseer herself! Did Angud know this? What did that mean in regard to his plan?!
His gaze shot from Charlotte to Bastian and back while he gradually moved backwards, closer to Navyri, close enough to hear Ferret’s words. When the Becomer ran out of the room a moment later, he was tempted to follow him – Angud had said that she wanted him, but he didn’t have the vials anymore. What if someone else took care of the Overseer?
His hand reached for Navyri’s, as if by accident. “Give them to me. I can hide them”, he urgently whispered to her, leaning closer to her. As she could see, he had been given different clothes than the rest of the prisoners, including a cowl and warm socks where one might just be able to put small objects . “As I said, I know the way to her private quarters. I can finish this …” He could. If it turned out that Spellweaver Angud had been lying to him, he even might, but for the time being, he just wanted to have the vials.
Re: 6. Cold Hearts [FYW Event Chapter 6]
I am terrified by this dark thing
That sleeps in me;
Rolf's face came poking into the room.
Sneabru's immediate response had her jumping as well, sidestepping to move closer to the wall. Everyone had reacted alongside the other when the woman in a nightdress showed up. What the fuck? She spoke to Bastian - er, Ferret - with confusing familiarity. Navyri looked between them in accusation. She heard the threats, the mention of Vy and the feathers on Navyri's wings stood up up, "Mother?"
Their exchange was an unsettling on, followed by a rush of events. Antennae stretched upwards from Ferret's restless hair and Navyri realized that his powers were coming back, but was it too late? Ferret pressed the vials in her hands - his precious vials - the ones he had sworn by, fretted over, and vowed would bring him the end of the Overseerer. To see him handing them off... "You're gonna get out of this," there was fear in his eyes when the girl had walked in, "Don't listen to her."
If they all got caught, punished, their chances of escape diminished painfully. And if the one man who knew how to even the playing field lost hope? Navyri drew the vials to her chest, watching the becomer sprint out the door. A chase? It sounded like they didn't have much time .Something or someone was coming, "Let's get out of here," Before she could take a step, Victor was whispering in her ear, reaching for her.
She reared back, greedily tightening her hold on the vials. Tarouz did not let go of things so easily, Navyri would be damned if she just handed it over, especially someone who had clearly been treated well by those who held them captive. He wasn't one of them and had done nothing to earn her trust. Sneabru, perhaps Zourvy, even Prae, she would consider... But him?, "Come with or don't. I'm not staying here."
Navyri made her way towards the door while reaching for the domain bag if it was unclaimed, She thought of the dark hallways and the shadows she could slip into. Her divine connection might have been taken away, but she was first and foremost, Naerikk. A better chance out there, Navyri braced herself and tried to make her way out the door, throwing the femur bone at Rolf's head as she passed and was ready for a fight, "Fucking traitor."
All day I feel its soft, feathery turnings, its malignity.
"At last. It has been too long since I have walked the face of this world. Too long have I been locked there, awaiting my champion to release me. My champion... This is you, daughter of Audrae. You have, whether knowingly or not, released me from my self imprisonment, and are here to fulfill the destiny I have seen written in the tapestry of nature. You, daughter of Audrae's daughter, will be my foothold in this world." - Belaera to The Nightingale, after the 600 arc imprisonment
Re: 6. Cold Hearts [FYW Event Chapter 6]
Date: ????
Status: Protecting Nav
Weapons: Scythe, Shield
Armor: Platelike-Leather
No Current Magical Effects
None of the conspirators seemed quite sure of when they would get their magic back, but Prae got the idea all the same. Their powers weren't returning anytime soon.
Nothing they could do about that now. Praetorum had gotten most of his questions answered, and the plan he'd thought up earlier was looking.... not easy. But doable. It was going to be dangerous, and messy, though, and a lot was going to rely on Ferret being able to poison his prey properly.
Before he could bring the plan up to the others, though, there was a creak at the door. And then, there were two more in the room, one Prae recognized, and one he didn't. Prae had not been in Melrath long enough to recognize the symbol of the Valkyrions. But under the circumstances, 'I'm sorry' could only mean one thing.
The ithecal growled softly as Zourvy pulled him backwards, away from the door, but let it happen, still unsure what the biqaj was afraid of. This new woman, marked along her arms with something Prae could not manage to make out, spoke to Ferret—Bastian?—like an old friend. Or at least acquaintance. Prae understood little of the nuance of their conversation, but he understood the important parts: she was eager to see them recaptured, and there were guards on their way.
And then Ferret fled, and Prae knew without having to thing that everything was going to happen at once. If he had to guess, Charlotte would follow Ferret, Rolf would keep them all here, Sneabru would follow Navyri, and Zourvy would run off to find Vy unless Prae convinced them otherwise.
Out of the corner of his eye, Prae saw Victor say something to Navyri, and saw the Naer pull away from him. She didn't trust him? He hadn't quite followed the thread of that interrogation, busy as he had been with his own questioning, but he suspected it hadn't gone swimmingly for Victor, based on her reaction.
Vials in hand, the Naer started towards the door, and Prae could only hope that she would follow through with Ferret's plan. Sneabru would follow her, most likely, and the combination of a scout and generalist wasn't a bad one for infiltration mission they were on. The inclusion of a swordsman with no skill in stealth as far as he'd mentioned would only detract from that.
Prae needed them to succeed on their mission for his own plan to work, which meant that Navyri and Sneabru needed to get out of here as quickly as possible, and Victor was going to have to stay with Prae. "Sour, keep the lordling here." Prae barked out the order, his tone brooking no argument. "Sneab, go with Nav."
Then as Navyri made her way towards the door, Praetorum darted, not quite at Rolf and Charlotte, but slightly past them. As he went past, he let out a flurry of jabs with his scythe that were not meant to kill, but instead to force the intruding pair backwards into the centre of room. Whatever they did, Prae would do everything in his power to keep his own body and shield between them and Navyri. Then, once the Naer and Wyvarnth made it out of the room, Prae would plant himself in front of the entrance to the room, shutting the door with his tail. Rolf, Charlotte, Victor, Zourvy—not one of them was getting out unless Prae wanted them too.
Re: 6. Cold Hearts [FYW Event Chapter 6]
Amaris was very much not in the right place.
Neither mage nor blessed; they'd fallen into truly a situation that hadn't concerned them. They would think that those in charge would have been more selective in their search of mages. If they were testing to remove Immortal blessings, then it would be safe to assume that they might think to remove one's magic. But how could you do that for someone with no magic to begin with? Brows furrowed, they opened their mouth to ask still more questions -- how was one declared a mage? Was there any sort of testing prior to being detained? -- when it seemed as though the mastermind behind their escape might faint. They made to cross the room to him, as the door opened. The mixed blood's gaze fell on Rolf. They'd thought of him only trills before, and here he was with an apology on his lips. Their mouth went dry as the woman stepped into the room, and they all seemed to have a visceral reaction. To recoil, draw back. Maybe not Victor, though; he seemed more confused than the others.
The woman spoke directly to Ferret -- Bastian, now? Whatever divine machinations were at play were only slightly in the becomer's favor; his magic was coming back. They glanced to the others in the room, perplexed and unsure of much else but a simple fact: they'd been caught. Whoever this Charlotte woman was (a relative of Ferret's?), she did not bode well for their escape. Despair locked them in place; they'd be stuck, imprisoned for no other reason than a mistake. An easy mistake to make, but now they'd conspired with prisoners. Explaining the situation might do little in the long run.
First Ferret then Navyri took off. That left Victor, the two ithecals, and Zourvy. Though, the latter would likely sooner take this as a chance to run to their twin, after the words that had been spoken of her. Jaw clenched, the mixed-blood resolved that they would stay with the androgynous biqaj. Praetorum barked his orders -- a quick study in leadership, if any -- but there was nothing for them to do. Or maybe there was something.
"There's been a mistake." Sometimes a diversion was needed. If this woman was feared, there was reason behind it. "I am not a mage. Or -- or blessed. Surely, there must have been a clerical error. Your mother -- maybe she could help me? Or you, Charlotte? I'm quite meaningless to your research." Praetorum had blocked off the door. Rolf couldn't have been all that Charlotte had brought with her for protection; she'd said that she'd left a trail. Amaris didn't want to think of what kind of trail it was. "I do, though, have connections to Viden. Perhaps you would see their research? They're quite knowledgable on a number of subjects; I'm sure you'd find something useful there."
Praetorum
Knowledge
  • Investigation x 5
  • Tactics x 4
  • Logistics x 3
  • Leadership x 2
  • Discipline x 2
Points
XP: +20 (no magic)
Renown: +20 (between other prisoners, it will eventually get out that the large ithecal was involved in the attempted escape at Niflheim and some will put it together that it is Praetorum)
Loot
All items he collected during the escape will be confiscated.
Review
Praetorum is such a strong tactical character, and his skills are so aligned with his experiences and how he uses them. It's unfortunate he had so many disadvantages to him, but then it proves an interesting challenge to see how he tries to operate regardless. He made good use of his tail through-out, and definitely should be commended for his willingness to keep loyal to his fellows and try to help as many people as possible. Praetorum definitely strikes me as a "Good" character, and only does what is necessary in order to help/rescue other people (rather than going on wanton murder sprees... though he's certainly powerful enough to do so, if he wanted to try). Great job, enjoy your rewards!
Victor Amielle
Knowledge
  • Persuasion x 5
  • Tactics x 4
  • Etiquette x 3
  • Deception x 2
  • Rhetoric x 2
Points
XP: +20 (no magic)
Renown: +20 (A Lord of Lysora involved in an attempted fugitive escape of Niflheim? That will get around the prison and spread outward. The story might even reach his home!)
Loot
All items he collected during the escape will be confiscated.
Review
Victor played it incredibly safe, but that was very smart of him to do! A clever tactic to keep to the truth rather than attempting to lie, and so he ended up more trying to persuade his fellows rather than fool them. He also kept fairly calm considering the situation and all the stress involved with knowing that he was sent there to spy on the others. Overall, a fine line to balance on and you wrote it exceptionally well. Great job and enjoy your rewards!
Navyri
Knowledge
  • Tactics x 5
  • Seduction x 4
  • Leadership x 3
  • Intimidation x 2
  • Investigation x 2
Points
XP: +20 (no magic)
Renown: +20 (The winged Naer that stripped down and got made leader during the attempted escape from Niflheim? That story is going to be popular around the prison and spread out afterward).
Loot
Six vials of Ferret's Special Bread Solution (provided she figures out where to hide them).
All items she collected during the escape will be confiscated.
Review
Navyri wasted no time in figuring out what was going on (or trying to), showing her inherent confidence and drive to get things figured out and find her way free. I have little doubt that she would have left a trail of bodies on her way out, if she'd been given the opportunity and needed to. Though I wonder how great of leader she might have been, if push came to shove and it came down between her survival and the group's safety. ...But I have a feeling she would have remained loyal actually, given how she spoke about Vy to the others even if it was from a sense of "practicality" and her justified anger toward Ferret fleeing at the end. It was entertaining to read her thoughts as well as her dialogue. Great job and enjoy your rewards!
  • Detection x 4
  • Investigation x 3
  • Tactics x 2
  • Persuasion x 2
Points
XP: +20 (no magic)
Renown: +20 (Amaris will be known as that one random person who wasn't a mage, wasn't marked, wasn't known as anything at all and yet... was imprisoned anyway and tried to help with the escape attempt from Niflheim!)
Loot
All items they collected during the escape will be confiscated.
Review
Amaris surprised me in this, in a very good way! They focused on something incredibly important to the event, catching on to the research facility and realizing that Rolf might not be entirely open as a possible ally (what immediate foreshadowing!). They didn't get a lot of presence in this thread, but despite that, they were very efficient in what they did share in dialogue with the group. Definitely pleased by how clever Amaris proved to be in this situation. Great job and enjoy your rewards!
