[Wealth System] Wilderness PCs, Tiers, and Points

Wealth Tiers
Wilderness PCs may earn Wealth Points the same as any other PC and complete Wealth Threads in the same way. When they reach a new Wealth Tier due to Skill increase, they are considered to be on the very bottom of that Tier. They can not increase their Wealth Tier via Wealth Points as a Wilderness PC until they reach Tier 5, but they can spend them.
What happens when a Wilderness PC earns more Wealth Points than matches their Tier, but isn't able to raise their skill to go up a level? I realise that they won't go up from points alone, but am unsure what happens to the Points themselves

Do the points cap out at the max for the Tier, or do they end up at one Tier with Wealth Points better suited to a higher Tier? And if they spend enough points to drop below the minimum, do they also drop a Tier, or is their Tier tied solely to skill level no matter what points they have (at least until Tier 5)?

Re: [Wealth System] Wilderness PCs, Tiers, and Points

Short Answer: Tier is only determined by skill in survival/job skill for wilderness pcs. Up to a point. You can earn as many wp as you wish and they won't cap out. You just won't go up in wealth tier until your skill is the appropriate level.

Long Answer:

Before grandmastery, the wealth tier only is determined by their job/survival skill. For example:

Kyle has fieldcraft for a wilderness survival skill at the novice level. That means he's at tier 1. He completes a few threads and earns enough knowledge and xp to level it up to competent. That means he tiers up to tier 2 wealth. His wp stay as they are regardless of the wilderness pc's tier. The wp thresholds are only for wage-earners until a certain point, which I'll explain further...

After they reach grandmaster in their wilderness survival/job skill, they will reach tier 5. From then on, the upper threshold of whatever wealth tier they occupy will have to be met for them to reach that tier. So if your grandmaster fieldcraft pc wants to exceed tier 5, they'll have to earn 91+ points through job threads and any other means of earning wp. Once the grandmaster wilderness pc gets to the upper threshold of tier 5, they CAN level up to tier 6 the same as any wage-earning pc.

The advantage to wilderness/seafaring pcs is that once they have attained grandmastery in their survival skill/job skill, they will never fall below tier 5 wealth even if they spend all their wp and have 0 left, and they'll have an advantage when it comes to getting by in the wilderness.

Re: [Wealth System] Wilderness PCs, Tiers, and Points

I'm still a little confused. Let me be specific

Example: Kyle is a Tier 2 Wilderness PC. His latest Wealth thread brings him to 20 knowledge in his Wealth Skill (too low to level) but 28 Wealth Points (max for Tier 2 being 25). He remains at Tier 2. How many Wealth Points does he have? Is he at 25 wp because he's at tier 2 or at 28 wp because that's what he's earned? When he does level by skill and is then considered at the bottom of Tier 3, does his wp then fall to 26 wp, or remain at 28?

Oh no, you can have as many wp as you earn at any tier that your wilderness pc currently occupies. The thresholds for wage-earners don't block you from getting more wp as a wilderness pc. They just won't cause you to go up in wealth tier once you cross the thresholds.

Got it.

So if Kyle was Master level with 95 wp, he could potentially go up 2 Tiers the moment he hits Grandmaster level?

Sorry, I missed this, but yes that's what it means in that very specific scenario :)
