[Venora] Chorus

Alistair’s quick counterattack took Peake by surprise. His trapped arm was already enough surprise, which the Andaris clearly showed on his features, but as the blow landed on his gut Peake could do nothing but bend forward. Hand going to the table to support himself, Peake’s breathing was cut off for a whole thrill. Although Peake’s core was quite developed, mostly because of the abusive training with aggressive exercises like deadlift or squats, Alistair’s hit was not meant to shock the body in any way – it wanted to crush it, and it did. If the Venora had been a better host and had fed him something other than moronic strategies, Peake would’ve vomited any meal on the tabletop, now being a line of saliva what hung from his mouth. Some gasping grunts escaped the nobleman, forcing his breathing to return with mere stubbornness, his left hand unresponsive for some reason, perhaps shocked by the damage.

To be defied was grave, but to be assaulted was an insult Peake never tolerated. Not even his father, Benji, dared raise his hand against the once beaten child Peake was. Even so, disgraced by a Venora was perhaps the biggest offense one could suffer in this world, the house being miserable and pretentious from its roots. As Peake rose his predatory gaze to Alistair’s childish features, the utmost arrogance in his lack of emotion was enough to trigger whatever it was that sparkled the low chuckle in Peake’s throat. Even Peake himself was unsure of what he currently felt, if it was some sort of joy from a sudden revival of an old rivalry or perhaps a deep desire to break Alistair right then and there. What he did know is that he wanted more of it, drawn by the passion and hooked onto like as if it came from the end of a bottle. Peake didn’t even need to say anything, as Alistair seemed hook onto it as well, no matter how much he tried to hide it under that bland face of his.

Leaning back to recover, Peake’s hands went behind the table quickly, taking it by the edge and flipping it to the side as papers and books splattered through air and ground. As the chaos happened, however, Peake used the distraction and the removal of the obstacle as an opportunity to strike. Instead of launching paltry punches or puny punts, however, Peake decided to go directly for a takedown, lowering his center of gravity by bending his knees and jumping forward like a spring. His objective was to ram Alistair’s abdomen with his shoulder as his hands split, one going between his legs and the other doing the same from the other end, establishing a lock. If it was successful, Peake was likely to have no trouble in using both his back and his legs to lift the Venora off the ground, raise himself at full height and use the momentum to hurl Alistair to the side and slam him painfully on the ground – Peake to land just on top of the opponent’s body a thrill later.

The table being flipped was a surprise, but not wholly unexpected. Being a mage and a combatant for what must have been the entirety of his adult life, Alistair knew that a cornered animal would go to any lengths to protect themselves and grant an edge. Attempting to startle Alistair with the table - and the scattering of important documents - would buy him, presumably, the seconds he needed to beat the man down. However, as quickly as he flipped the table on its side, Alistair prepared to strafe to the side.

Peake came charging at him like a bull, but Alistair swung to the side and used the table as an obstacle to prevent the man from taking hold of him. Instead, Peake's charge would only lead him further through the halls of the library while Alistair moved himself behind more obstacles - large tables for study - and gained distance between he and the angry Lord. Damien had, funny enough, left the room and the two heirs to their own devices. Alistair's intention at this point was no longer discussion or negotiation, but solely proving his manliness to the cocky Andaris, who seemed to enjoy the conflict for as much as he had been coughing his guts out. In truth, Alistair too enjoyed the thrill of the rush, and the idea of seeing the man submit before him only pleased the senses.

"I swear you better not fuck up the family library," Alistair said. "It's one thing to hack up the horse semen you swallowed for breakfast, another to flat out fuck with my tables. They really don't teach you boys respect in that slum you call the capital." He only continued to taunt. Alistair's advantage was his collected behavior in virtually any situation. Even if it meant the man rampaging through his books, he'd sure as hell not let him win this fight.

Peake’s charge was avoided, obviously, as instead he found himself scraping his knees on the ground. Alistair’s strafe – or routing, as Peake would’ve described it – sent him far away into the study, clearly afraid of being met by Peake’s wrath as any sane mortal would be. Picking himself back up, still panting from the suffered hit, his features turning to face the Venoran with rage at first, but afterwards shifting into a teasing and provocative expression. As far as Peake could remember, the two heirs had never had any sort of physical dispute in their youths, perhaps due to the weirdness of each’s childhood. Peake’s had ran short as he was burdened with expectations, and Alistair… Well, he just faded from Peake’s life. As far as the Baron could tell, Alistair had stumbled upon a picture book and lost the few ounces of intelligence within.
Alistair, man that claimed to be wise, intelligent and logical, made a huge mistake by addressing the library and its contents, as Peake now had more than enough resources to destroy in order to provoke his opponent, something he wasn’t against as books had lost his interest long ago – perhaps when he was buried in them. Life in the university had taught him all he needed to know in this life. Furthermore, Alistair’s attempt at an offense reached deaf ears, Peake’s sexuality being as sure as the sunrise in the morning. The Andaris’ philosophy regarding his own sexuality was very simple: he liked to put his cock inside things. There had never been any doubts about that, no secret preferences, no strange kinks – except perhaps the obvious tendency to practice lovemaking with violence. Because of this sexual certainty, Peake would never be affected by any sort of insinuative doubt against his preferences.
“That’s strange.” He commented, in a chuckle. “Last I heard you were the one milking cocks around here. Is your theologist giving you some of that immortal juice?”
Peake stood firm, acquiring his arrogantly correct stance as before, his posture as proper as it got. Benji’s education had paid well, after all. With that posture and his devilish expression, Peake’s hand reached for the nearest book, a very thick tome titled ‘Three Hundred Arcs: Evolution of the Endor Crab’, a must-have read for any man that flirts with suicide and has a noose nearby. Glancing over it, Peake’s expression changed to utter surprise.
“Oh look! How to suck cock, by Ally Venora! You must know a lot about it, Ally.” As soon as Peake finished his snide, he tossed the book aside, carelessly letting it fall somewhere deeper into the library. “I’m starting to think you invited me here for another reason, Ally. Why don’t you just pull down your pants and bend over for me? I’ll fuck you real slow, treat you real nice…”

With that, Peake took another tome, titled ‘The Reality of Basket weaving’, and tossed it in direction of the Venora, hoping to maybe smack his thick head with the pretentious book. This damn place was a circus.

[Venora] Chorus

The day had been long and arduous, with little gained. He'd come to blows with Peake, fought over his taunts and cheap words. The two of them came out of it nearly irreconcilable, though by the end of their meeting - when the two men settled down - Alistair and Peake had determined many decisions and strategies that would ultimately help to maintain Andaris in the event that the civil war led to its siege.

Now, in his palace room in the upper floors, after a long night of negotiation, he spoke to Damien through a scrying portal. There was a distance of only half a kilometer or so between them, but both of them were enveloped in study.

"Damien," he started, "I'm to be married soon, I suppose." The Lich immediately quirked an eyebrow, staring back at him through the window between their rooms. "Married to whom?"

"Celeste Andaris," he replied. "Peake and I discussed it. I'm going to prepare to rally troops to help defend Andaris from Veljorn's rebellion. After that, the engagement and the process of marriage will begin, to be completed this Saun or the year next." He spoke with calm, though the Lich could see it was merely a veil covering his anxiety. Alistair had never wanted to marry for the sake of nobility, or bearing a child. He was, after all, not interested in women. He did not want to 'bear children', nor be involved romantically with one he'd never truly love.

And he didn't know who Celeste was, other than that perhaps she had a rebellious history. It was an excellent match, for both of them, but the fact remained that he'd have wanted for there to be no match at all. It was not the life he wanted to lead.

"Are you content with that?" Damien asked. Alistair shook his head.

"Who is ever content with life?" he asked. "We may be in short periods, but contentedness is not a long-lasting thing. I'm just going to have to learn to deal with it, right? It's the life I'll lead. Perhaps I can at least love my children," he said. Then, his hands lit up, and the window would begin to close.

The two of them said their 'good nights' to one another, as the nobleman pondered his future - one with marriage.
